Thankyou for including one of our oxycons in your video. Although when using propane your set up will operate without one, we do highly recommend using a flashback arrestor as an extra safety precaution. A flashback arrestor isn't needed with the oxycon as there is one built into the system. Thanks again.
Ive used this smith torch for several years and Im getting fed up of the excess costs of 5kg oxy bottles fees, rental, VAT etc! Think I might invest in one of these units. I see they offer a version with a connector especially for the Smith torch as well which is nice. Thanks for the demonstration! Glad to know it can work with the largest nozzle.
Thank you so much Phil for this video! It was very helpful. I'm about to set up my smith's little torch with an oxygen condensator and gas bottle and for some reason this really scares me. Your video helped me a lot :)
I live in San Miguel Azores (Portugal), brought my Smith Mini torch with manometer gages from USA, I cannot hook up to oxygen butane bottles, the European fittings are different. Can you help? The oxygen con system sounds great, is Tufnel Glass in Britain ? Pleas advice. My name is Will, thanks.
Wonderful. It’s almost the first time I see someone operating correctly the oxygen torch. Most of the times, the people including schools and professionals insists to do it in the wrong sequence, leading always to dangerous operations as explosions ( shutting the combustible before the oxygen will automatically make a super lean flame, drive the flame to enter the nozzle, leading sometimes to explosion)
One suggestion - I tend to purge the O2 line on mine, allowing it to flow free for a short while. All it does is ensure the line is running 90ish% O2 before I start trying to burn things. There is a larger nozzle available, designed for casting - it's a cluster of 6 nozzles in the head and produces quite a bit of heat. Still feasible to run off the oxycon though.
Hi Peter, Thanks for introducing the Oxy-con to me - it's Fantastic! Also, Thanks for the tip - I will do that in future. It's good to know someone is paying attention. lol Cheers Phil
Peter, The red light - the Service Required light - keeps coming on, then going off. Not really blinking, just on for a few seconds then off again. The system is new and Martin told me that they are all serviced before going out. Do you know why the light is doing what it is doing? Cheers Buddy Phil
Phil Stevens At a guess, you're not running a high enough flow rate through at the time? Mine lights up when I'm not using the torch. Otherwise, check with Martin...
hoppityhopful Hi, I have spoken to the guys at Tuffnel glass and he assures me that you DON'T need a Flashback arrester on the propane side of the system. I don't have one and I feel very safe without it. I have now used the Oxy-con system for a few months and I know a guy that has used one for over 5 years, we are both VERY happy with the setup, if it be with bottled O2 or the Oxy-con. I hope this helps. if you need any more advice or help on any subject to do with making jewellery, just ask. I have been doing this for over 38 years now. I would have liked to see the connectors between e concentrator and the torch hose. Can you describe it? Is is just the barbed connectors that can be pressed into a bare hose end?
I have been watching this system for a while, I generally have some small brands and often the propane is insufficient. I saw something like this on Amazon but in size with about € 150, max 7 liters of flow per minute, maximum purity at 95% with only 1 liter minute. Could my question be suitable for a small torch? Are there other parameters to consider? Considering that I would only use it a few times in a year, how long will it last? Maintenance? Thank you very much, if needed I can provide a link (Amazon Italy).
Hi There I have no idea where to get such a machine in The States. In England, they are used in hospitals as portable Oxygen machines. Maybe you could try Ex-hospital outlets. Or ring Tuffnell glass and speak to Martin. I hope this helps. Phil (www.philongold.net)
Thank you Phil.. i appreciate your reply. i came across a very similar machine Today that i sold in the U.S by RioGrande (a huge Jewelry supplier) , however their price is more than yours ($800). Cheers Tony
I have NO idea why BOC would say a thing like that. They supply 100's of bottles to people that use the Smiths Little Torch. If you really want to know for sure, I suggest you ring the people who make the Little Torch or Cooksongold. In any event - I am NOT using any BOC products - that is the great thing about the set up.
yes i have the same oxy-con and been using a little torch with it my hose got damaged so contacted BOC to see if they sold the hose this is when i was told they also said they would not supply gas to a little torch user as it is unsafe on the same note BOC do not sell the 3/16 hose for oxy / propane as used in the states as this is unsafe lol I now use this torch with my oxy-con works a treat www.hswalsh.com/product/soldering-torch-tb452
It’s called The Smith’s Little Torch to be precise…🙄😂 Loads of cheap fake replicas out there, be careful An adjustable propane regulator with gauges is also useful. Gives you precise measurement of pressure and let’s you know how much gas is left..

You can use oxygen and propane with the smiths little torch with all nozzles, and you can use butane also.
I want cost
Try an HHO torch + electrolysis machine. They cost about the same (if not less) and you only need electricity and water.
Don't store propane inside and definitely put flashback arrestors on your propane side.... Not needed for oxy con obviously but must have for propane.
I had one of those machines last winter but mine was hooked up to me so I could breathe. lol dang pneumonia!
very cool idea!
Don't do torchwork near a curtain.
Nice job bravo from New York 👍👋🇧🇬
Ventilation?
No spark arrester ?
Great information thanks mal .
Great video by the way :)
thank you sir , do we need a flashback arrestor for oxygen generator or not!?
Read earlier comments..

great demo and machine . Thank you for sharing.
would you know if this machine is sold in the U.S.A ??

I have been looking to buy an Oxycon and during my search today I sure I came across the info that the Oxycon that Tuffnells sell are made in the USA.
HI - I have bought mine from Rio Grande - excellent but not cheap! However, it will pay for itself in a couple of months!!
Can i use it for fish tank?
If the oxygen from the concentrator as pure as commercial cylinder oxygen. It appears to be as good.
It has to be pure because it is a breathing machine
i have been told by BOC the smiths little torch is not EU approved so you will not be insured if there is a fire wondering if you have heard this ?

bgm BOC recommended and sold me some propane, a regulator and arrestor for a smith little torch with oxycon set-up yesterday.
here it is!
There you go forgive me you slowed it down thank you
