Just picked this up on Warriors and wonders for 30 bucks cdn....I love it. I couldn't find the Orange one initially when you did your review but birdshottv mentioned it recently and it reminded me. Man what you can get now compared to what was available 20 years ago is night and day!
Nice, I didn't know that Blades Canada had anthing from Sanrenmu - I had been pestering them on that point for a few years but then I gave up. I will have to look into all that they have from them.
Thank you for the Very nice review!!! Just one thing I think. The thinner spots in the handle, that you recalled for a good grip for the fingers. I think it is for easy access to the opening coil flipping disc. Sorry for spelling, I am Dutch. Hope I didn't offend you, with sharing my opinion. Greetings from Wim from Belgium
Hi Wim. No offense taken. Perhaps I didn't make my point clearly enough in the video regarding that point. The thing it's the knife could be twice as big in the dimension I feel is too narrow and it would still be just as easy to access the disk.
It would be awesome in a 3" version, with the suggestions you named, Jake. The Rat 1 is a Sedan De Ville and the 9211 is a El Dorado. Thanks for sharing.
It's probably a titanium coating, but I cannot be certain because Sanrenmu doesn't say. here is their website listing for it - srmknives.com/products/9211?variant=36256673071258
@@CanadianCuttingEdge Neither do they say nor do they reply to e-mail messages of us common folk - is why I asked you. I conducted a bit of investigation, asked for 9211-GW and 7228L-GV *the coating of which looks like paint to me* [NOT the 7228L-GV2, which is blackwashed] and got from 2 different sources [retailers, who contacted SRM Knives and did get replies - unlike me!] info to the effect of “… black oxidation coat [that] is safe to food and non-toxic and is very popular in knife making industry.” Question is, do you trust dark-coated SRM knives to process food with?! Cheers, reply appreciated!
I just bought a Kubey 158 in tan and black g10 with D2 off Amazon for $24. It's really nice drop shut bearings light for its size 3.8 blade I give it 5 stars
@@CanadianCuttingEdge I thought it was just gonna be another nice import but it is really nice machined heads and the pivot screw is also machined the g10 feels really grippy I'll be getting another Kubey
Yes love the looks of this knife. Love the blade and locking mechanism, but handle is a bit lacking. Not a bad lookin little edc. Think I’ll get one. Tnx
D'oh! I should have included that info. If I remember correctly it has Teflon (maybe black nylon) washers on each side AND super thin phosphor bronze washers on either side of the blade as well. Very nice
I am not familiar enough with Japanese knives/swords to be able to say which one it looks like, but certainly it has a Japanese design feel to it. THANKS for the comment, it gives people something to Google and learn more.
Its obviously a wel thought knife, good looks. For the price indeed great materials, loving an axis-lock. Just not my cup of tea.... 🤔 so i dont have to expand my collection!
Indeed, not every design is for everyone unless you are strange like me, I like almost any knife, but I guess I too have certain tastes, I am not so much a fan of fantasy knives.
Is your pivot screw too tight? Other than that all I can think of is that it's a matter of learning the technique. It is a complexe movement, but keep at it.
I no longer have this knife, so I cannot find those measuremnts - I reviwed this over a year ago, and I have to sell almost everything I review so that I can afford to review more knives.
@@CanadianCuttingEdge It's okay. Now i have an aexcuse to buy more tools and parts. LOL. Already ordered bearings, carbon slabs and some screws and bolts for it. I hope it turns out nice.
It looks fairly upswept because of the way they did the illusion with that chamfer, and technically it might be ever so very slightly upswept, but not enough so for me to give it that name.
Все так обстоятельно объяснил, но ни слова не понятно!) Короче я догадываюсь: лезвие отличное, легкий, тонкий, сборка так себе, в целом же ножик классный. )
As a Canadian it annoys me that you don't advertise what the actual Canadian price is especially since we all know knives here are alot more than the usd-cad exchange rate
I usually do have the Canadian price in my videos. But sometimes I forget. I use USD because the internet is a worldwide medium and people around the world watch my videos. Also, when people use the purchase links that I provide in the description section under EVERY review. It is unfortunate. I just checked the stats and in the last 3 months less than 10% of my viewers are from Canada, I can't give prices for everyone who watches so I usually go with USD in the introduction but I do give Canadian prices. I have kept track of the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar vs the American dollar since I was a young man (long before the internet existed) because it affects our Canadian economy. Further, this knife, and most that I review are not sold in Canada and the stores where they are available sell in American dollars meaning that the price in Canadian dollars will change petty much every day, and I get enough emails and comments from people telling me that the price I quoted in a video isn't the price that the knife is listed for on the day they looked. Prices are continually changing so the best thing to do is to take any price you. Nutshell,: I cannot please everyone, but I try to please most.
Srm with some good looking designs recently. I love that blade shape .
I really hope they come up with more versions of it.
Thanks for the review Jake. This is one of the better designs coming from SRM in a while, IMO. Gota love that ambi-lock!
I really hope they do more with the design.
It’s a slick looking knife... I like it Jake! 👍
I am very much enjoying it too.

Thanks Thanks the review, this is currently $19 on Amazon. What a deal, good blade, light, g10, axis lock!
I am amazed that the price has come down to that point, very nice.

cool analogy
There's so many options now days you can get a great knife for under $30
I did a top 10 video on this exact price range just last week - ua-cam.com/video/ZaLBubNCGSs/v-deo.html
Thorough review with good information, much appreciated!
Any idea what material is the 9211-GW [09:21, top - FDE handle] black blade coating made of?

Great video and fun knife! I think you’re right when you say it is ideal for urban Carry.

Thanks for asking my question.
Awesome review! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome vid. What you think about these d2 steel budget knives? Im waiting for my fh91 ganzo really want to test this cheap D2.
A good number of the Ganzo D2 knives have had their steel tested in USA and it has been found to be decent D2, usually at an HRC a bit over 60
Great gentlemen knife. Light blade for light work.
Yes, it is very good for EDC, but I agree it is not a work knife.
Great looking knife !
indeed
I like it, very reminiscent of an unokubi zukuri tanto

How do you get yours to deploy so fast? I cant get mine to go fast at all. Its not a deal killer for me nut I oiled mine up and its still slow.😅😅

Does it come in a spear point or clip blade?
So far only this one blade style.

it certainly could do that quite well.
