Catriona (Miss Universe Philippines) isn’t really a professional singer. She released a single recently but she’s just starting out. She still have a lot of room to grow. REGINE has decades of experience since she’s the Whitney of the Philippines
I encourage you to see more videos of the Asia's Songbird Regine. She's been in the industry for more than 30 years now. I encourage you to see her videos when she was younger til her prime days til now. So you could see the difference. Regine's careee started when she won the Asia Pacific Singing Contest sometime in the 80's. From then on, she became very popular here in the Philippines. And most of the singers, belters especially young divas in the Philipines look up to her, they idolize her. Regine is already an ICON in the Philippines. She was offered numerous offers in the US but she refused.

If we do genuinely appreciate Cat or any other person in general, we'd want to support them in their personal growth. Sharing only compliments and avoiding constructive feedback is not productive because this won't encourage people to improve their skills. Some background information on Cat's singing experience: She has completed an online certified course -which is not equal to an academic degree - in Music Theory at Berklee College of Music. Music theory refers to theoretical education, e.g. on the different music genres, the history of music etc. Music theory doesn't necessarily involve learning how to produce music in practice and how to sing in practice. Prior to her reign as Miss Universe, Cat had several singing gigs outside the entertainment industry and a UA-cam channel on which she has been sharing covers and lately also songs of her own. It can be concluded that Cat's career objective seems to become a professional singer, that she has extended theoretical knowledge on music, but still requires some practical training, as some of you have pointed out already. But what in particular can Cat improve? Based on my observation of some of her singing performances, and from a technical standpoint, Cat could improve her ability to sing on pitch - in other words, hitting the notes of a song correctly. Singing on pitch has basic and critical importance in music. If this requirement is not met, a song will sound off key. In addition to this, Cat should use stylizing techniques in moderation and use them at the right places, at the right time. If a singer is off key and uses a lot of stylizing techniques, it risks sounding as if the singer was trying to hide, e.g. the flat notes with vibrato. An example of a singer with a low register, but is on pitch and uses stylizing techniques beautifully is KZ Tandingan. This is just an example of the opportunities and potential of a low voice, not to throw shade on anyone. All in all, again, this is only constructive feedback and doesn't have any intention to spread negativity. Cat has been a successful and beautiful Miss University who brought pride to the Philippines. Also, she has positive energy, passion and potential to be an even greater musician. Practice makes perfect, Cat! You'll do great! Asia's Songbird, Regine, has been breathtakingly beautiful and talented as we've all known her. I appreciate her adapting to Cat's vocal register and her generosity to allow Cat to shine. The same thing applies to Martin Nievera in his duet with Cat. Amazing professionals!

Based on my observation of some of her singing performances, and from a technical standpoint, Cat could improve her ability to sing on pitch - in other words, hitting the notes of a song correctly. Singing on pitch has basic and critical importance in music. If this requirement is not met, a song will sound off key. In addition to this, Cat should use stylizing techniques in moderation and use them at the right places, at the right time. If a singer is off key and uses a lot of stylizing techniques, it risks sounding as if the singer was trying to hide, e.g. the flat notes with vibrato. An example of a singer with a low register, but is on pitch and uses stylizing techniques beautifully is KZ Tandingan. This is just an example of the opportunities and potential of a low voice, not to throw shade on anyone. All in all, again, this is only constructive feedback and doesn't have any intention to spread negativity. Cat has been a successful and beautiful Miss University who brought pride to the Philippines. Also, she has positive energy, passion and potential to be an even greater musician. Practice makes perfect, Cat! You'll do great! Asia's Songbird, Regine, has been breathtakingly beautiful and talented as we've all known her. I appreciate her adapting to Cat's vocal register and her generosity to allow Cat to shine. The same thing applies to Martin Nievera in his duet with Cat. Amazing professionals!

It's Regine, hehehe not Regina (it's okay tho) she is the Asia's Songbird. Catriona Gray is the Miss Universe 2018 winner from the Philippines. She's not a pro singer (but has great potential) whereas Regine has been singing even before Catriona was born.
