With no 1st or 2nd round picks for years the Vikings still somehow managed to replenish their talent. Got two hall of famers for nothing in Randle and Carter. Got Jake Reed with their top pick in the 3rd round.
Man how competitive was the NFC Central was in the 90s? You had on average atleast 2-3 in the playoffs from the division for about the last 5-7 years until the realignment
If this game happened today everyone would be upset at the 49ers for playing their B team in a game that was very important to the Vikings, Packers, Bears and Lions. I don't recall there being any outcry about it at the time, however.
There was, but that's how it went and how it goes. Got nothing to gain? Put your scrubs out there. Vikings collapsed in the wildcard round to the bottom-seeded team anyway.
It ultimately didn't mean that much to any of them since they were all making the playoffs anyway and SF/DAL already had the byes. Only difference was the Packers got the first wild card rather than the division title.
the 49ers couldnt win that 14th game which is extremely hard to go 14-2 in the regular season. I know this 1994 49ers team won the superbowl with a 13-3 record but i still think the 1992 49ers were a better team...they went 14-2 during the regular season and only allowed 236 points all year while scoring 431. They just ran into a buzzsaw in the cowboys which they lost to 30-20 in the 1992 nfc championship game.
81oakridg the 92 49ers were a great team but the 94 49ers are considered as one of the greatest teams in NFL history. Let’s be honest, the 49ers lost by 7 with backups, they would have blown the Vikings away with the starters in the game, thus giving you your 14th win.
If you take the full regular season you can argue for the 92 team (worse offense but better defense), but the 94 team was peaking at the end while the 92 team looked to be flagging. Their first playoff game in 92 was super sloppy too, before losing to Dallas, while the 94 team easily rolled over their first opponent before beating Dallas.
How many records did set that season, and how many probowl players did we have plus the rookie class is really where denny green excelled. I bleed purple.
The 49ers had nothing to play for in this ballgame and had already secured the No. 1 seed in the NFC bracket with home field advantage throughout. San Francisco did not want to risk losing its first string players to injury in a meaningless game for the team.

I love watching your channel cause the Vikings never lose!!!
3:58, a chart showing a vikings kicker having an extraordinary number of consecutive field goals. It's 4 years early but it still hurts.

I see what you did there with the headline… nice.
Dennis Green was a great coach for the Vikings. He is missed.

The NFC as a whole dominated the 80s and 90s. The AFC has been better since the millennium, though, mainly because of NE.
Luke R. What’s crazy is that I just checked who made the 94 playoffs: Lions, Packers, Vikings and Bears. Insane as hell
And then there were the Bucs
Man. How good was the Central division that they sent 4 teams to the playoffs? That's pretty dope.

I remember this game watching back in Dublin
Vikings vs. The niners JV team. Still almost lost the game...
Two teams that never should've changed uniforms. BTW, 49ers win this game if they actually had something to play for.
How did they ever watch football back in the day with no score up in the corner.
I know.
The good old days of football!!!! They played the game without dragging politics into it.
As long as you're not a democrat it's all good lmao
4:37 tuck rule?
The tuck rule had not yet been written when this game was played
Denny really no sold the Gatorade shower.
Randle all pro...either dt/de!.... cant beat that.
Miss those uni's !
The best 👍👍
if the Vikings had lost, how does that change the NFC Wild Card matchups?
Packers would've won the division and the Viking would've swapped 3/4 seed and opponents ! Bears @ G.B. an lions @ Minn
These Denny Green teams of the early-mid 90s sure knew how to create turnovers! RIP Dennis Green. 🙏
Loved Denny Green
49ers literally rested all their starters in this game
Randle was beasting as usual and Terry Allen got an Octopus.

21 14 VIKES!
Geographically speaking it would have made more sense if the Cowboys had been in this division

Lol. James Harris. Looks like Tarzan, play like Jane. Roy Barker was pretty good. The Left end. Wound up with San Fran actually.
Why did Steve Young not finish the game?

@@drewzuhosky6826 You've got home field advantage plus the best record in football treat like a preseason game why risk your starters
