The one that made it into the play was more restrained anger. It better fits how they characterized Eliza, I suppose. I love both versions and kind of wish they had kept more of this in the final one.

I love this version, but i absolutely understand why they changed it.
I think of it as if this is the initial raw reaction she had when she first heard of the pamphlet, abd the one from the play is couple of days later - less rage, more cold heartbroken pain.
And staying true to the way they portrayed Eliza, i love the fact the we "got" the hurtful reaction, and not the raging one.
Having said that - two parts that i would have LOVED to see in the final play -
    1. the children/family are the real legacy
    2. "Your enemy whisper so you have to scream" - 100% Hamilton trait

This song is Lin-Manuel Miranda's first draft of Burn, hence the name.
    It features 5 different Elizas:
Ari Afsar, who was the original Eliza at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago (September 2016-March 2018) and for a single week appeared as Eliza in the Philip (Second National) Tour in May 2019.
Julia Harriman, who was a standby for the Schuyler sisters in the Angelica (First National) Tour until she assumed the role of Eliza in January 2018, but left the Angelica Tour to become the original Eliza in the And Peggy (Third National) Tour in January 2019 where she remained until January 2020.
Lexi Lawson, who replaced Phillipa Soo at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway (July 2016-October 2018).
Rachelle Ann Go, who was the original Eliza at the Victoria Palace Theatre in the West End (December 2017-November 2019).
Shoba Narayan, who was the original Eliza in the Philip (Second National) Tour (February 2018-Febuary 2019).

When your genius is so ridiculous that the stuff that doesn’t make the stage is 🔥
Suggestion- check out the demo Cabinet Battle 3 from the Hamilton mixtape and see how we(Americans) tied ourselves into a knot that we still haven’t fully undone

Rachelle Ann Go ('I see how you look at my sister') and Lea Salonga (original singing voice for 2 Disney princesses) sang a great version of 'Movie In my mind' together.

This sounds great BUT it would feel like an extremely weird backtrack to have her proclaiming she wants to find herself here followed by tragedy, reconciliation and her dedicating her life to his legacy.

I absolutely love this version. I understand why it was changed for the show but some of the lines here kind of change how I view Eliza now so that's really interesting to me. These women all have such different tonality to their voices but all play the same character. Just one of the reasons I love Broadway and theater in general. Different actor/actress means it could be a different tone in the show and I love that. So glad you did this one!!

The creative team of Hamilton has featured the five actresses who have played Eliza Hamilton- Rachelle Ann Go (West End), Lexi Lawson (Broadway), Arianna Afsar (Chicago), Julia Harriman (First US Tour), and Shoba Narayan (Second US Tour)

Absolute banger, this song was. Plus, Rachel Ann Go was there so all the better.

I think this version is a fantastic song, but I believe Burn fits so much better with the way Eliza's character is portrayed. Plus this version of the song would have made it much more difficult to make Eliza's forgiveness believeable I think. As you said, this one is savage with Hamilton, a lot more agressive than Burn, which strikes a great balance between angry and hurt. In any case, imagine being such a great writer that even your discarded songs are this good 😂 Thanks for the video!

I kind of imgine them as two parts of the Process: This one is right fter Eliza finds out and she confronts her Husband directly Yelling into his face about this.
The Burn in the show is the one after they went away from each other, when the first anger has burned (hah... sorry) out and The sadness and desperation and the questioning comes in. She sings that one to herself, trying to make sense out of this betrayal

Yes, these are actresses from non-Broadway productions. Lin felt that this was too angry for the Eliza he came to know via the Hamilton biography

Yesssss thank you for posting this! It's so stunning, the lyrics, but also the gorgeous voices of all of the ladies! I especially like how each of them have their own unique sound.

No no, THIS is the original version that's why it's called "First Burn" the "Burn" that made it in is the second one.

I adore this version so much! My family is split: my Mom loves both equally while my day and I have clear and opposite favorites. I just love this full expression of knee jerk reactionary anger lol. But I fully agree that the later version is a much better fit for the play.

Now watch Immigrants, We Get The Job Done. Lin took one line from the play and wrote another whole song from it.
