Rainbow Road 64 is easily my favorite Rainbow Road. Just enough guard rails where its safe-ish but you still run the risk of falling off, interesting hazards, a train riding a railroad of starlight supplying coins, fireworks lighting the sky like its 1999, fucking STELLAR music, and coming from the first Mario Kart I've ever played. Sure, its a shame they could never get the length of races in this track right (i think 2 laps would be perfect), but I still think its the best among the Rainbow Roads.
Listening to this on the bus after my very last day of school... it feels like the end of the movie, it makes me feel so accomplished, I've finally made it through, and I've come a long way.

Trumpets give the triumphant feel to this song. And given it's the last track you'd normally play in the base game if you were to play in order, it makes sense for it to be this way. It's a victory lap of sorts

I didn’t grow up with the N64 Rainbow Road. Didn’t even own an N64. I haven’t played nor do I own Mario Kart 8. I don’t even own a Nintendo Switch. That didn’t stop the opening from making me tear up.

Most themes for the Rainbow Roads give me such a feeling of nostalgia and freedom that I don’t feel anywhere else. It’s almost breathtaking for me.
