    Good o'l
    Red Rose tea.
    • boil 2 litres of water in a billy over an open fire.
    • Once the smoke starts to rise off the boiling water.
    • add a hand full of Red Rose tea leaves.
    • Allow the tea to draw.

Tea could also mean dinner. What did you have for Tea last night? Meaning what did you have for your evening meal. Much more common when I was a lad in the '70s probably not used as much now.

Still fairly commonly used in Tasmania, too

*'Gumboot tea' is a great tea to drink in NZ... nope you don't drink your tea out of a gumboot... 'Gumboot tea' is also known by it's real brandname of 'Choysa Tea' or even at a push 'Bell Tea'. It is one of the cheapest tea's around in NZ, but it is also one of the nicest tea, when made correctly. Or you could drink Coffee, Milo or Hot Chocolate. So in NZ we have 'Breakfast', 'Morning Tea', 'Afternoon Tea' or come for 'Tea'/Dinner' 🙂.*

Soon after we arrived in New Zealand, I'm pretty sure we offended someone who invited us to tea right before supper/dinner time. We were hungry for food and I didn't want caffeine right before bed.
I also expected New Zealand to have fancy teas but T2 is Australian and most Kiwis haven't heard of Zealong.

I think the English colonialists brought the tea drinking culture to NZ. It has been around a while. Love your channel. I'm searching for more NZ content/channels on UA-cam now..❤
