Does anyone tour eastern cemeteries? I see lots from Indiana to California.
Hello! I have a few videos from Pennsylvania. I’m planning a trip east soon!
@@Whittdocs great. Thank you.
I always heard that if someone called George Nelson (baby face) he would become very angry. Do you know if that’s true or not?
I’ve heard that before.
Yes very true he did not like too be called that.
Yes it's true most women said it to him. They started it he cute too them
There are a couple of stories that you could have added. During one bank robbery, a teller was very nervous when putting the cash in a bag. Dillinger calmed her down and said, "Just give me the money, honey."
Another time, a man had gone into a bank to cash his paycheck when Dillinger entered. The man put his hands up, leaving his cash on the counter in front of the teller. Dillinger told the man to put his money in his pocket. The man was confused, and Dillinger said, 'I don't want YOUR money. I want THEIR money." So the man was able to keep his pay as Dillinger robbed the bank.
No wonder he was considered a folk hero to many.
I've seen many UA-camrs visit his grave over the years, but you made it seem like the first time, Whitt. And seeing it in the snow made my day. We don't get a lot of that here in So Cal :-)
Thank so much Steve. That means the world to me. Thank you.
How are you Steve!!??
We have Dillinger days here in Tucson the hotel is still open the house where he was capture is still here
How neat. Have you ever been?

That is amazing, Ron. Thank you so very much. I greatly appreciate that. Search for Whittdocs on Facebook and find me. Would love to talk to you more!
@@Whittdocs - hey buddy thanks, I’m not on Facebook at all, but hopefully you have Instagram. Let’s keep in touch. I like your productions!!
I have Instagram. Find me there or I’ll try to find you. Really enjoying your channel.
@@Whittdocs - right on!!
I believe Dillinger is there but there has been a lot of debate over that throughout the years. Particularly from some of the family members. There was going to be a show on that but but the exhumation process has been a controversial mess with the cemetery. The cemetery is absolutely beautiful though and I can understand not wanting that to happen.
I’ve read about the theory of that not actually being his body. Very interesting and it makes one wonder. Thanks for watching!
Hello From Mooresville Indiana. Mr. Dillinger Grew Up Here. But Sadly The Town Refuses to Acknowledge It. 🤷♂️✌️
Hey everybody! Please answer this question for me. If there is any one grave that you could visit, who would it be?
I think that I would have to Wild Bill Hicock buried in Deadwood South Dakota
That’s a great answer!
Honestly it would have to be Abraham Lincoln 🥰
Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana
Those are great choices.
Hello from Indiana. You right down the road by a few miles from my childhood home!! My grandfather is buried there too in the law enforcement area!
Very nice. I appreciate that comment. Thanks so much for watching.
Also, I appreciate your grandfathers service in law enforcement.
I would be completely pissed off if I get incarcerated for ten years for a $50 dollar robbery...!
Dillinger is one of my favorites. Love this. Thank you. Outstanding!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much for joining and subscribing. I greatly appreciate it.
Now it’s all over Danny Bailey, and the harvest is in. Dillinger’s dead, I guess the cops won again.
Hey Fonz! Haven’t heard from you in a while.
Such an informative and interesting video. So many things I didn't previously know about Dillinger. Thanks for this mini biography. I certainly enjoy ALL your videos. Your content never disappoints!
I really appreciate that.
Believe it or not I am really supposed to. be his Great Great Great Nephew but I don't believe it my Father Grandma was named Alcie Dillinger my dad only told me this story when he was drinking Lol but who knows.

Thank you for another great video. Crown Hill Cemetery is one of my favorite places in Indianapolis. I am looking forward to your other videos you made in Crown Hill. I recently heard that Myrna Loy was the favorite actress of John Dillinger...and of Franklin Roosevelt. An interesting tidbit.
I had no idea. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
You close to Ashland, Ky ?
I sure am!
@@Whittdocs Cool me too. Anyways awesome channel. 👍
Great historic and biographic information
Awesome video
Thanks for bringing this to us
Had no idea he was buried in indiana. I remember when I was 13 got a tour through the FBI building in chicago and they showed us Dillinger's death mask
That would be neat to see. Thank you so much for the comment.
what's a death mask?
Death mask is when they put gauze over the face and plaster paris on that till it dries. That's put on the deceased
I'm still alive ...
My apologies. I guess I spoke too soon. Haha
He was a bad ass
At least they let Dillinger watch the movie before taking him down. LOL
Haha. Now that’s looking on the bright side.
It’s sad how he just couldn’t stay away from the criminal life.
Interesting and informative. Good bad or indifferent, history is history.
you dosen't talk about his bright side ! did you know something about him !
Faces of The Forgotten suggested your channel--- glad he did and we subscribed! Enjoy your vlogs very much, thank you.....

Hello buddy good to see you again my friend awesome vlog..I heard that they were going to exhume john dillinger does it look like the grave has been disturbed? He sure has been gone for a long time..I read that his casket is encased in concrete.. stay safe and warm god bless you my friend 🙏..
Hey David. I read that they cancelled that plan and are not going to do that. Thanks so much for watching!
Why were they planning to exhume him??
@@kellark because of one family that thinks John wasn't killed in Chicago.
Loved this! I am fascinated by him; I even wrote a report on him for school.
Thank you so much.
I love watching you make your dreams come true. ❤️

Interesting story well done
Thank you so much!
Very interesting video, great information & beautiful scenery made the story much more enjoyable. Thank you once again for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. I appreciate it.
He tried to rob a bank in fostoria Ohio the bullet holes are still in that building
Thank you, I love you're stories
Great video. The one thing that I find amazing about Dillinger is that he robbed all those banks in roughly one year. The numbers seems to indicate he robbed one a month. While it seems like he always was in some sort of trouble for his actions, his fame rested only on the last year of his life and how he died.
John Dillinger doesn’t rest. He’s deep in hell and will never come out.
Thanks for watching!
You sound judgemental and religious and both dont really go together
He looked WAY older than 31!!! more like 51 to me...What a story!
I agree. He was definitely aged. Hard living, I guess.
Faces of the forgotten sent me here. 😁
Welcome aboard. Thank you so much for watching. My channel is entirely cemetery related. I hope you enjoy. Thanks so much!
You need a video on doc holiday
Yes you’re right. I want to get to Tombstone Arizona too.
Interesting content mate, hopefully one day we will meet in the field. Cheers
That would be neat. Thanks so much for watching.
I subbed my friend
Welcome aboard! Glad to have you.
My grandmother's family is buried in Crown Hill. The families would go every Sunday after church to tend the graves. She said that they had to place a slab over Dillinger's grave because people were taking handfuls of dirt from his grave as mementos!
Oh my goodness. I had never heard that. Thank you so much for sharing that.
Wow he certainly did a ton of robberies in short amount of time. I didn’t realize his life was as short as it was…a shifty one. I feel bad for his dad, he tried and continued to stick by him with help and he just really didn’t care one bit. SMH
Thanks again for your comment.
Good!
Thank you so much!
Another great video love watching your channel. I had read something once that John Dillingers father had him buried deeper than the usual 6 feet. I think 8 or 10 feet because he was worried about someone trying to steal his sons body. Not sure how true this is though.
I had never heard that before. Thanks for the story.
Do you have anything on john candy
Not yet. But he’s legendary and I hope to get to him too. It’s hard for me to get some of the celebrities, because I’m in Kentucky. Now I do make trips to film. I just haven’t made it to him yet.
You need on on paul walker and charlie Daniel s
This was so interesting. I am thoroughly enjoying your channel. I have always been interested in cemeteries and this channel is great.

Have you been to the veterans memorial in Grayson I have a few family members that are buried there Gumberts
I sure have. My grandfather is buried there. I did a video about him. You should check it out. The cemetery is at the end.
Dillinger’s right hand man was Homer Van Meter. Homer was a distant cousin of my mother. She met him once. He was gunned down by the FBI in Minnesota in October 1934. This coming Sunday August 21st, is Homer Van Meter day at his grave sight, in Lindenwood Cemetery, Ft. Wayne Indiana.
Wow. I would love to visit his grave and tell that story.
@@Whittdocs
I do plan to be there this Sunday.

I had no clue he died. What a wonderful story to share!! thanks my friend!!
Thanks so much, Tim. I appreciate you.
Very nice video! The Dillinger family name is pronounced with a silent 'g'. Safe travels on your way to your next video location.
Thank so much for that info. I have no idea. Thanks for watching!
@@Whittdocs you're welcome. I've heard other Dillinger family members pronounce the Dillinger family name with a 'g' and they know better.
Very interesting and informative video. I really enjoyed it!
I greatly appreciate that.
Love your videos. Many, many years ago I was a Dayton police officer. I want to set the record straight. Dillinger did not escape from the jail in Dayton. Here is the description that was published recently in the Dayton Daily News: “Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Robert C. Patterson turned Dillinger over to armed guards, who escorted the gangster to Allen County to await trial for robbing the Citizens National Bank in Bluffton. Dillinger’s gang escaped from their Indiana prison and made their way to Allen County. They passed themselves off as prison officials and broke Dillinger out of jail, killing Sheriff Jesse Sarber during the escape.” Allen County is north of Dayton in Lima, Ohio.
Thanks so much for adding to this story. I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
In 1976, while in the Dayton Police Academy, we recruits got to shoot a few rounds in a Tommy gun that instructors said was taken from Dillinger. That was quite a thrill.
That’s amazing. I appreciate your service as an officer.
I liked the way this person put this all together!
I appreciate you watching. Thank you so much!
Doc, is that a family plot? And how many family members are there?
Yeah sure is. I don’t remember exactly, but I would say 4 or 5. Thanks for watching!
His mother, his father and his step mother are next to John.
Well, done! Your info is perfect!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Another awesome History lesson
I appreciate that. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks again for watching.
So interesting thank you
Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate it.
Verry good!
I appreciate that so much.
Dillinger’s right hand man of his second gang was Homer Van Meter. He was killed one month after Dillinger, by the FBI. He was a distant cousin of my mother. If you’re ever in northern Indiana, he’s buried in Lindenwood Cemetery, Ft. Wayne. I can take you right to his grave.
That is very neat. Thanks for sharing that.
We have one of John Dillinger's gang members in Fort Wayne, Indiana in Lindenwood Cemetery, Homer Van Meter. He is buried in section 4 in the cemetery. It is customary when you visit him to leave a coin on his headstone. The cemetery uses this money to maintain his headstone.
I would love to visit. Thanks for sharing.
