At first I thought Caeldori was a literally a Cordelia clone but this actually clears up that she is her own character. She shares all the basic traits with Cordelia (Perfectionist, brilliant, hopeless romantic, etc.) but that’s it. She does not have the same experiences as Cordelia, one of the very things that shape one person to who they are. Cordelia developed a lot of insecurities and a disdain for the word genius because of her experience with the Pegasus Knights and their sacrifice. Caeldori does not have this experience and have developed a confident personality that doesn’t have the same maturity that Cordelia had, and that’s a good thing in my book. I now think she’s a fresh addition and I see forward to play the game more than before.

And Cordelia was one of the most popular first gen females in Awakening which is why she was "brought back", just like Tharja, Gaius, Owain, Inigo, and Severa. She has the same personality and general appearance because she is Cordelia, but different memories because she hasn't lived as Cordelia. Rhajat says that she was reincarnated to follow the Avatar, implying that she is Tharja and the avatar is Robin. By extension that makes Asugi Gaius and Caeldori Cordelia. Also those characters were so popular Nintendo probably thought bringing them back would make them more money. Kinda like we'd all heard of Marth from SSB so when "Marth" showed up in Awakening people were more interested.
The Phoenix In Japan they have official popularity polls that fans participate in. The most popular ones got special scenes in the DLC and were subsequently brought back in Fates for their popularity. They were popular before the DLC not after. I wouldn't be surprised if Leo showed up in the next FE game, seeing as he's the most popular character.

Caeldori is clearly a very intelligent woman and an excellent student, but she also seems to have a degree of naiveté that she hasn't grown out of yet, such as blindly trusting her father's praise of the Avatar which was clearly a tactic to get her to stop pestering him to teach her when he knew he wouldn't live up to the supposed perfection that she thought he had.
That's why she's the best awakening rip-off. She's actually quite a bit different than Cordelia. I don't think Cordelia had anything like Caeldori's youthful naivete. With Cordelia it was like she wanted to appear perfect, hiding that she isn't, whereas Caeldori genuine strives to match the perception she has of her father and ends up surpassing him without even realizing it. Kinda the opposite.

Cuz if so then this specifically means that Cordelia and Tharja are both possible canon choices for Robin (They are the most popular women of the adult generation in Awakening and had DLC that focused on them). I kind of like the A-Rank Conversation. It presents a disconnect by way of having Caeldori boast the Awakening mentality, where building up just one unit to eradicate the opposition is not only feasible, but more or less encouraged. It's in stark contrast to Fates, at least in regards to Conquest, since your army is really only as strong as its weakest component. Her pursuit of perfectionism might have flown just as well in Awakening, but it doesn't exactly work in the context of Fates. Even the likes of Ryouma Emblem and Xander Emblem have weaknesses in spite of their strong points. Ryouma Emblem gets by through the application of dodging everything, but can't take a hit; relying solely on him will eventually give RNG the one chance it needs to ruin everything, and this particular game's RNG is on the cruel side of the spectrum. Xander, as good as he is, might as well keel over from a heart attack whenever someone shows him a spell book. Yeah, you'll eventually get Pavise, but it's not Pavise+ so you can't expect it to make him impervious; again, the cruel RNG will personally see to this.
+Terron145 Actually, he (Xander) gets Aegis, not Pavise…. sure, Aegis is what protects him from magic randomly, so your point about magical protection (although unreliably) still stands; you just used the wrong skill name. He can get Pavise if he takes 4 levels in the Knight tree up through General by marrying Effie or a female Avatar with the Knight talent.
+Peter Jumper I did write the incorrect Skill Name; my apologies. I could have sworn I had Aegis on the brain at the time too. Looking back, I'd say Pavise is worth getting as well, at least on Hard Mode, since future enemies deal plenty of damage that can get past his Def stat.
Terron145 I'd probably say its spending too long away from Siegfried (Generals cannot use swords) and there are more convenient alternates (marrying Charlotte or Selena or friendship with Laslow grants him Hero, which gives him Sol for self-healing and gives him Axebreaker to combine with sword weapon-triangle advantage against axe-using Berserkers. Bonus points if he gets it by marrying Charlotte, as her Hero class comes from the Fighter, so it also gives Xander the HP +5 skill, giving him a larger pool of health to tank hits with. She also gives him huge (+8 at S-rank Berserker, +9 after defender) STR bonuses…. Laslow friendship or Selena marriage can give him Strong Riposte for enemy phase damage, but +3 damage doesn't make up for the +9 STR that Charlotte S-rank offers.

Tomebreaker can be gotten from castles, which then makes him extraordinarily difficult to kill, especially if you give him pavise and aegis as well as sol or renewal (or both). Even then, routing a map solo may yet be impossible in lunatic, but Xander is as close to a perfect unit as Conquest is ever going to give you. I remember he was by far my best endgame unit when S supported with Charlotte.

In the original Japanese translation with male Corrin aka Kamue with Rhajat aka Syalla that is pretty much confirmed in that they are reincarnations of the characters from FE: Awakening. I don't know if they kept that with the horrible official western translation though... If they did that's great, but it sucks it was not mentioned when your character is a female. Also the time convolution with the children from FE:Awakening being present still confuses me if they are another reality version separate, but similar to FE:Awakening or are they the same ones from Awakening? I would assume another reality since it would undermine the possible pairings from the previous game and how they speak about the past though similar to Awakening it still has some minor differences. So they are from another reality and from the past... The children that are reincarnations are from the current timeline where the people from Awakening are past gone. It doesn't help that the translation we got is bad.
What I was trying to say at the end is the translation across all three versions is terrible by today's standards of video game translation with a huge following. Not even the fact of altering words to fit better for English is the problem, but the disregard of how many of the characters are completely different to the Japanese counterparts and that there are many errors in the poorly translated text to boot. Also the voice acting as a whole is definitely less than what we got in Awakening. It is upsetting to me for this is a good game and deserved better treatment when being released to English speaking and reading people. It's also a slap in the face to the original writers of Fire Emblem IF that our western translation department that worked on this game did so poorly and frankly did not show much effort when fans have already put a somewhat better translation out there before the game officially released in North America... Translating is hard work for games so seeing this is sad.
Sorry for me going a bit off tangent... Still salty on a good game getting minimum effort in its story adaptation and voice work. I wish with today's downloadable updates being a possibility that Nintendo would hopefully come back with a patch that fixes many of the characters dialogue and actually redo some of the voice work. Not going to happen, but I can dream... Honestly them doing a piss job on translation and voice work will only hurt them in the long run I feel. Awakening saved the franchise and the next installment they have the western branch just throw their hands in the air and say fuck it... Sorry again for my ranting. I enjoy the series and want it to do well and be well, but if they do this for the next title I'm not touching it. I'm not going to support bad habits.

Caeldy actively is seeking "perfection" (because she's trying to live up to the legends of her "perfect" father Subaki, which she naively hasn't realized are quite exaggerated), while Cordelia doesn't like being called a "genius" because of the taunt that her fellow recruits used on her; Cordelia is also more modest in that she isn't openly seeking perfection.
The marriage that never existed with Cordelia, because even after you married her she still said, "I can't wait to show this to Chrom," or "Maybe now he'll notice." ;-;
Her last line made me a bit sad you know? The "Promise you will remember me" It made me feel like if it was a goodbye from her.....anyways Caeldori is one of the few females that Confesses first to the MC
I dont care much for this characters flipped personality from Cordelia. Cordelia was skilled but was very regretful for being so, feeling as though she was on a pedestal and was unable to make any true connections to people based on her skill. Robin helped her by reminding her of her fellow pegasus knights who placed their trust in her. Here, we have Caeldori who is very forward with her perfection, consistently going far beyond any other character, and being oblivious to realizing that shes the best around, even outdoing her father(Though ingame I got little use out of either unit). As far as the supports go, its hard to tell if Corrin was genuine, or if he pitied her. I feel if they had Corrin interrupt her ramblings by hugging her or something, it wouldve felt more real.
Give your Avatar the "Mage" talent for Dark Mage upon creation and give Caeldori the Ebon Wing from the link bonuses from having all three paths and you'l be able to replicate Cordelia's class set on Caeldori. She'll also have the extra addition of Samurai on top of this, which Cordelia would have loved to have for Swordfaire in her sword classes. Plus if she A+ (Friendships) with Rhajat or Mitama she can get access to Onmyoji and get Tomefaire. [Alternatively, she can get Cavalier from Sophie or Outlaw from Nina]. Selena!Caeldori: Sky Knight (Pegasus Knight) tree - her default; reflects Cordelia's class Samurai tree - from Subaki; this is new for her Mercenary tree - from Selena; Cordelia also had these classes Dark Mage tree - gain from a Mage Avatar husband to reproduce Cordelia's dark mage tree

Caeldori is not Cordelia's granddaughter by default, although she can be be made to be if Selena becomes Subaki's wife and Caeldori's mother. Caeldori's father is always Subaki, and she has one of 14 possible mothers: 1. Felicia 2. Azura 3. Mozu 4. Kagero 5. Hinoka 6. Setsuna 7. Oboro 8. Sakura 9. Hana 10. Rinkah 11. Orochi 12. Nyx 13. Selena [this is the only one where she's related to Cordelia] 14. Female Avatar As Caeldori is always tied to Subaki, a fixed father, then the male avatar cannot be her father as she already has one. And while the game does allow the Avatar to have a gay marriage, they are only presented with 1 gay option per gender (Niles for males, Rhajat for females), so Subaki isn't an option anyways, and the gay couples in the game don't have children, so even if Subaki was an option (he isn't) then male Avatar still wouldn't be Caeldori's parent.

I know awakening was popular and I love it too, but we have, Cordelia, Tharja, and Gaius 2.0 and Owain, Inigo, and Servea the originals. The only other 2 most popular characters were Chrom and Lucina and for Chrom we have before awaking and Lucina has the amiibo. I can't say I'm made about this though.

Rhajat says that she was reincarnated to follow the Avatar, implying that she is Tharja and the avatar is Robin. By extension that makes Asugi Gaius and Caeldori Cordelia. Also those characters were so popular Nintendo probably thought bringing them back would make them more money. Kinda like we'd all heard of Marth from SSB so when "Marth" showed up in Awakening people were more interested.

With Cordelia it was like she wanted to appear perfect, hiding that she isn't, whereas Caeldori genuine strives to match the perception she has of her father and ends up surpassing him without even realizing it. Kinda the opposite.

I kind of like the A-Rank Conversation. It presents a disconnect by way of having Caeldori boast the Awakening mentality, where building up just one unit to eradicate the opposition is not only feasible, but more or less encouraged. It's in stark contrast to Fates, at least in regards to Conquest, since your army is really only as strong as its weakest component. Her pursuit of perfectionism might have flown just as well in Awakening, but it doesn't exactly work in the context of Fates.
Even the likes of Ryouma Emblem and Xander Emblem have weaknesses in spite of their strong points. Ryouma Emblem gets by through the application of dodging everything, but can't take a hit; relying solely on him will eventually give RNG the one chance it needs to ruin everything, and this particular game's RNG is on the cruel side of the spectrum.
Xander, as good as he is, might as well keel over from a heart attack whenever someone shows him a spell book. Yeah, you'll eventually get Pavise, but it's not Pavise+ so you can't expect it to make him impervious; again, the cruel RNG will personally see to this.
+Terron145 Actually, he (Xander) gets Aegis, not Pavise…. sure, Aegis is what protects him from magic randomly, so your point about magical protection (although unreliably) still stands; you just used the wrong skill name.
He can get Pavise if he takes 4 levels in the Knight tree up through General by marrying Effie or a female Avatar with the Knight talent.

Terron145 I'd probably say its spending too long away from Siegfried (Generals cannot use swords) and there are more convenient alternates (marrying Charlotte or Selena or friendship with Laslow grants him Hero, which gives him Sol for self-healing and gives him Axebreaker to combine with sword weapon-triangle advantage against axe-using Berserkers. Bonus points if he gets it by marrying Charlotte, as her Hero class comes from the Fighter, so it also gives Xander the HP +5 skill, giving him a larger pool of health to tank hits with. She also gives him huge (+8 at S-rank Berserker, +9 after defender) STR bonuses…. Laslow friendship or Selena marriage can give him Strong Riposte for enemy phase damage, but +3 damage doesn't make up for the +9 STR that Charlotte S-rank offers.

Tomebreaker can be gotten from castles, which then makes him extraordinarily difficult to kill, especially if you give him pavise and aegis as well as sol or renewal (or both). Even then, routing a map solo may yet be impossible in lunatic, but Xander is as close to a perfect unit as Conquest is ever going to give you. I remember he was by far my best endgame unit when S supported with Charlotte.

+Azrael-Von-Gruber Many people indeed already consider Caeldori to be Cordelia's reincarnation for all intents and purposes.
In the original Japanese translation with male Corrin aka Kamue with Rhajat aka Syalla that is pretty much confirmed in that they are reincarnations of the characters from FE: Awakening. I don't know if they kept that with the horrible official western translation though... If they did that's great, but it sucks it was not mentioned when your character is a female. Also the time convolution with the children from FE:Awakening being present still confuses me if they are another reality version separate, but similar to FE:Awakening or are they the same ones from Awakening? I would assume another reality since it would undermine the possible pairings from the previous game and how they speak about the past though similar to Awakening it still has some minor differences. So they are from another reality and from the past... The children that are reincarnations are from the current timeline where the people from Awakening are past gone. It doesn't help that the translation we got is bad.
What I was trying to say at the end is the translation across all three versions is terrible by today's standards of video game translation with a huge following. Not even the fact of altering words to fit better for English is the problem, but the disregard of how many of the characters are completely different to the Japanese counterparts and that there are many errors in the poorly translated text to boot. Also the voice acting as a whole is definitely less than what we got in Awakening. It is upsetting to me for this is a good game and deserved better treatment when being released to English speaking and reading people. It's also a slap in the face to the original writers of Fire Emblem IF that our western translation department that worked on this game did so poorly and frankly did not show much effort when fans have already put a somewhat better translation out there before the game officially released in North America... Translating is hard work for games so seeing this is sad.
Sorry for me going a bit off tangent... Still salty on a good game getting minimum effort in its story adaptation and voice work. I wish with today's downloadable updates being a possibility that Nintendo would hopefully come back with a patch that fixes many of the characters dialogue and actually redo some of the voice work. Not going to happen, but I can dream... Honestly them doing a piss job on translation and voice work will only hurt them in the long run I feel. Awakening saved the franchise and the next installment they have the western branch just throw their hands in the air and say fuck it... Sorry again for my ranting. I enjoy the series and want it to do well and be well, but if they do this for the next title I'm not touching it. I'm not going to support bad habits.

I dont care much for this characters flipped personality from Cordelia. Cordelia was skilled but was very regretful for being so, feeling as though she was on a pedestal and was unable to make any true connections to people based on her skill. Robin helped her by reminding her of her fellow pegasus knights who placed their trust in her.
Here, we have Caeldori who is very forward with her perfection, consistently going far beyond any other character, and being oblivious to realizing that shes the best around, even outdoing her father(Though ingame I got little use out of either unit).
As far as the supports go, its hard to tell if Corrin was genuine, or if he pitied her. I feel if they had Corrin interrupt her ramblings by hugging her or something, it wouldve felt more real.
Give your Avatar the "Mage" talent for Dark Mage upon creation and give Caeldori the Ebon Wing from the link bonuses from having all three paths and you'l be able to replicate Cordelia's class set on Caeldori. She'll also have the extra addition of Samurai on top of this, which Cordelia would have loved to have for Swordfaire in her sword classes. Plus if she A+ (Friendships) with Rhajat or Mitama she can get access to Onmyoji and get Tomefaire. [Alternatively, she can get Cavalier from Sophie or Outlaw from Nina].

And while the game does allow the Avatar to have a gay marriage, they are only presented with 1 gay option per gender (Niles for males, Rhajat for females), so Subaki isn't an option anyways, and the gay couples in the game don't have children, so even if Subaki was an option (he isn't) then male Avatar still wouldn't be Caeldori's parent.

I know awakening was popular and I love it too, but we have, Cordelia, Tharja, and Gaius 2.0 and Owain, Inigo, and Servea the originals. The only other 2 most popular characters were Chrom and Lucina and for Chrom we have before awaking and Lucina has the amiibo. I can't say I'm made about this though.

I think the only time "grandparents" are mentioned is in the new festival DLC (yes. there have been translations for them already)
