I bought a replacement ESC before my first flight thanks to your warning, and a couple of flights later everything is still running smoothly. Thanks for taking the time to post this or I might have ruined my precious new plane. :)
Just got mine from the posty ten minutes ago. Wing tips were a little crushed, but the cf rods are unbeleivable. Really amazingly stiff and great quality design.
Would you recommend this for a beginner as well? on the flight vid, I don't see where you guys put the POV cam, did you guys do multiple flights for the footage? Keep up the great work, love your vids.
I just flew my Dynamic s on the maiden earlier today. I have to say its definitely a winner. Fly's great and has no bad tendencies. 2200mah balances her out perfectly. I've only been flying for 3 months and I had a lot of fun flying this glider. Another winner from hobby king! IMHO
Hi - got mine from HK and the wing was a bit twisted and pulling out from a dive the model twisted out to starbourd, the tips of the wing has hooked tips and they were both bent so I cut the wing tips off and used glass re enforced tape to cover it up and stiffened the trailing edge . Flys great now - must be a one off cos the last one the ESC burnt out - before it did though was a blooming good flyer for the cash .
Another great episode guys, If I was to ever get a glider that one would be the puppy to get... Keep to this style of shows guys as it works superbly...
@gothicel No this is definetly NOT a beginner. It's very fast and it has the prop in the front. I would suggest you would try to use a bixler. It's great beginner for people like us ;) if you want i will do a full review on the bixler if you want to.
@argat11 It doesn't fall into a turn so easily, banked into a turn the V-tail acts as a horizontal and vertical stabilizer. Some people, mostly glider flying people hate it for it's lack of level flight rudder authority.
You can get a trainer mixer, you plug two receivers into it. So will need two receivers in plane. The master controller will need to be 5 channel plus, as a switch will need to be programmed to switch between them. Or some radios have trainer ports and the two radios are connected, so you have to stand close to each other
Dynamic-S update: Good news. After working with Hobby King regarding the warped wing that I received, they sent me a replacement wing complete with servos. I could see that this replacement wing looked straight. I took it up for a flight and, it flies great, straight as an arrow. I asked HK for replacement decals; that did not happen. I removed the original decals from the warped wing and applied them to the replacement wing; hope they stay on. I'm pleased with HK support and the performance of the Dynamic-S. . She will climb straight up.. Bob
it can be a handful to fly because if the slim airfoil (it's doesn't really like to go slow) and straight wings (you really have to be on top of the roll angle at all times). some trottle to aileron mixing doesn't hurt this plane either. it comes as what would be called "RxR" meaning motor, servos, prop, and esc are all included. you need battery and radio. the stock esc is under-spec'd, you should probably get an proper 30A
I understand it may be quite hard to answer this, but which one would be the better choice for just fun cruising around? This one or the radian pro? I enjoyed the review, and I like this plane as well, thanks guys
a brake on an esc provides just a little bit of opposite torque to stop the prop windmilling in the wind. without it it will keep spinning even at "idle" which will (1) make noise which will drown out the whooshing and whistling and (2) will actually slow you down when you go into a dive. check your esc manual to find out how to program the brake. it's pretty easy on a turnigy plush, never got it figured out on the red brick though
hi , could someone tells me how do they fly with two transmitter in the same time ? did they turn one off and other one on while they are both binded with?
I don't presume to speak for the previous commenter, but I assume he is referring to the motor. The motor will probably hold up fine, but I'm not sure the plane can take that power, considering for example the Siren ARF (2m warmliner out of carbon, balsa, and fiberglass) can take up to 500W. I just ordered myself a Dynamic-S and if you do try out that power setup I'd love to hear how it went!
Where do i get one of these. I cant find a place that sells them anywhere. Anyone have a link or know where i could go to pick one of these up and how much it would cost roughly?
Is there a way to slow this plane down for landing, other than just zero throttle? Lifting (or lowering) BOTH ailerons, and countering that with up or down elevator, would that work, leaving the plane controlable, but at a lower speed? I can program my transmitter to do all that, but I'm not sure if it would have the desired effect of getting an easier, more low speed way of landing it.
If you want to stop fast, you want both the ailerons to go up about 1/2 way, and your elevator to go up also about 1/3. If you want to simply go slow, you can put the ailerons down 2/3, and the elevator down 1/3. (When ailerons go down, the plane wants to pitch up) You may need to adjust the amount a little bit of elevator you need. Oh, and also, don't put both ailerons all the way, because than you have limited roll control.
Hi Like allways, love your Show! My Mate has the Yuki Blaze, pretty much the same (as the Hype WoW is as well). But not what I wanted to know. How did you do the Buddy Back without a Cable?? You've got two DX8 right? I've got the Same TX and would love to know how you've don that!!! (Or is this just looking like no wire due to the editting?) THX And a big thumps up from Germany!
Ok, nice, but I was wondering if this plane has some great flighttimes like the blizzard. at our field, someone flies his blizzard for 1 hour and 20 min. with a 2500mAh battery, WITHOUT using termic or someting like that. Could this be doable with thisone? greetings
my experience was that it didn't fold when i put the throttle all the way down to idle. it kept spinning just enough for it to not fold. even though the motor want giving any torque, the wind was enough to keep the prop spinning, which prevented it from folding. all my planes with folding props have the brake dialled in. that big spinning prop doesn't generate any thrust and it actually slows the plane down. to to go fast, use the brake!
@blizzards134 They've made no secret that the dynamic is built from the blaze. The difference is that they've put extra carbon in to stiffen everything up. I haven't seen a blaze but from what I can tell the dynamic s is a blaze v2 if you will.
Hair dryer or hot water (not boiling) will be good to fix these foams, i have fixed a few bent wings etc this way. I think some chinese warehouses might get really hot and the planes might warp a little
What are the positivs and negativs about v-tail? Can it handle a 4s? Can it handle the weight of a gopro? Do you have to mix on your radio? I have no experience about v-tail mixing. I have a turnigy, is it difficult? any videos out there showing it?
7:55 i think you guys should have done a shot where you hold the plane with the sun shining behind it, so you can see the carbon fiber rods through it like an x ray
Nice vid, and you said it was fast but .... where's the high speed power-on/off pass in the video? C'mon! Love that whistling sound when a fast glider goes by with it's motor off. ;-)
Hey Flitetest, I wanna know what the difference between V-tail and traditional tail in RC Planes? I know in jets for real planes they use them but what are any advantages or disadvantages for V-tails against traditional? Thanks. :)
Multiplex Blizzard is the best and there have been many copies . ST Model Blaze looks identical to this as well. They fly ok, but you need to strengthen them (especially the V Tail) and hot up the motor set up to get any real performance.
hey guys, After seeing this video I was super excited and went to HobbyKing and tried to find the Dynamic-s but realized it was discontinued. How can I get my hands on one and or what would you recomend for an ARF glider with folding prop and such a rugged design. Also love the V tail, it bad ass. I want a glider for stunt flying and this is the best one ive seen
If your doing an FPV system wouldn't a glider like this but with a bigger fuselage be best? All the videos I see of FPV, the plane is always in throttle.
If you guys want to do something really different you could consider coming to California and using your planes to fly over the Maverick's Surfing competition ..Using the Go Pro..easy money and get to work on your tans..
The plane flies brilliantly, fast and agile. However like many others have found, the ESC burnt to a crisp on the second flight (30 seconds in, nothing aerobatic, no reason for it to have over heated). Luckily the control surfaces were stuck in neutral and no damage was done to the rest of the plane except that it stinks so badly now that it's been banished to the garage. Don't even be tempted to try flying with the stock ESC, this could have easily trashed the plane, or worse started a fire.
This first two minutes of this episode made me smile more than any of the others thus far. You guys are awesome.
I bought a replacement ESC before my first flight thanks to your warning, and a couple of flights later everything is still running smoothly. Thanks for taking the time to post this or I might have ruined my precious new plane. :)
That beginning made me laugh so much, I love you guys, Flite Test!

Very nice as always! How did you guys mount cams on it?
Nice vid guys! What camera did you use for the rear view at 5:43 ??
I just flew my Dynamic s on the maiden earlier today. I have to say its definitely a winner. Fly's great and has no bad tendencies. 2200mah balances her out perfectly. I've only been flying for 3 months and I had a lot of fun flying this glider. Another winner from hobby king! IMHO

What kind of camera is being used to show the tail shots at 5:43?
Thumbs up for the MikeysRC FPV V3 in the background =). Nice vid guys.
@argat11 It doesn't fall into a turn so easily, banked into a turn the V-tail acts as a horizontal and vertical stabilizer. Some people, mostly glider flying people hate it for it's lack of level flight rudder authority.
it wooshes at low-medium speed but whistles at high speed. make sure to program the brake on your esc though!
You can get a trainer mixer, you plug two receivers into it. So will need two receivers in plane. The master controller will need to be 5 channel plus, as a switch will need to be programmed to switch between them.

Hey there FT, just wondering I would love to have a download to your intro music.
Thanks! 0:01 0:19

6:09 that sign on his back haha :D
Bassem Boustany ur wrong 6:25
i have just mastered the tuff trainer, would this be a suitable plane for me now?
it can be a handful to fly because if the slim airfoil (it's doesn't really like to go slow) and straight wings (you really have to be on top of the roll angle at all times). some trottle to aileron mixing doesn't hurt this plane either. it comes as what would be called "RxR" meaning motor, servos, prop, and esc are all included. you need battery and radio. the stock esc is under-spec'd, you should probably get an proper 30A
Mine is doing the same thing? Were you able to fix it? How did you do it?
I understand it may be quite hard to answer this, but which one would be the better choice for just fun cruising around? This one or the radian pro?
I enjoyed the review, and I like this plane as well, thanks guys
The best opening I've seen of Flite Test, LOL
oh so without the "brake" function, prop will keep windmilling even though it's folded during idle?
a brake on an esc provides just a little bit of opposite torque to stop the prop windmilling in the wind. without it it will keep spinning even at "idle" which will (1) make noise which will drown out the whooshing and whistling and (2) will actually slow you down when you go into a dive. check your esc manual to find out how to program the brake. it's pretty easy on a turnigy plush, never got it figured out on the red brick though
hi , could someone tells me how do they fly with two transmitter in the same time ? did they turn one off and other one on while they are both binded with?
same a an ST model Blaze or MXP Blizzard. no high speed dives with the power cut?!
Any chance we can see you guy try some dynamic soaring???
I don't presume to speak for the previous commenter, but I assume he is referring to the motor. The motor will probably hold up fine, but I'm not sure the plane can take that power, considering for example the Siren ARF (2m warmliner out of carbon, balsa, and fiberglass) can take up to 500W. how do you balance one of those props?
would u choose this or the zephyr?
Hay could you guys do a review on the sport cub s by horizon hobby?
You can always add v-tail mixer for flaps.
Where do i get one of these. I cant find a place that sells them anywhere. Anyone have a link or know where i could go to pick one of these up and how much it would cost roughly?
what on board cam where you guys using ?

what camera are u using for the onboard part????
Highest compliment for a flite test review: “WE DONT HAVE TO SEND IT BACK DO WE?!”
that is really nice... I want to buy one because of this video!!!
Will this work with my dx5e with no v tail mixing.
If you want to stop fast, you want both the ailerons to go up about 1/2 way, and your elevator to go up also about 1/3. If you want to simply go slow, you can put the ailerons down 2/3, and the elevator down 1/3. (When ailerons go down, the plane wants to pitch up)

@flitetest So you wouldn't need a V-tail mixer, it's not like the Parkzone Stryker Mix? The V-tail on this only acts as the elevator?
Hi

You guys crack me up. great job guys.

Apparently the ESC on this is overloaded and gets hot. I'm going to replace it with a 60a and use the stock for a scratch build :)

@WarefareModern3 Y cable on elevator, maybe an elevon/V-tail mixer cable. You can buy it at HK.
hi,
i got mine few days ago. unfortunately without a manual...could someone scan it?
"Oh my gosh... are we keeping that?" I laughed my ass off.
@blizzards134 They've made no secret that the dynamic is built from the blaze. The difference is that they've put extra carbon in to stiffen everything up. I haven't seen a blaze but from what I can tell the dynamic s is a blaze v2 if you will.

Does it make that "wooosh" noise when it passes by like other hotliners?
What are the positivs and negativs about v-tail?
Can it handle a 4s?
Can it handle the weight of a gopro?
Do you have to mix on your radio?
I have no experience about v-tail mixing. I have a turnigy, is it difficult? any videos out there showing it?
When you guys do videos like this, id like to see low passes at top speed to see how fast it can go .
Iv noticed you rarely do full speed runs
Does a Turnigy Nano-Tech 3s2200mha fit in this airplane? Or will it be to big?
@ScooterEngan1 4s yes. The prop and speedy cant though.
what type of prop is that
when Josh scott says are you trying to get rid of our sponsorship the hobby king logo shines lol
I'm new to RC flying, UK based, tempted to do some reviews of "beginner" models, as a semi-beginner... maybe I should try a guest spot? :)
FliteTest please tell me where you bought your grey heather pullover sweater from this video you wore it in ?
actually lol'd when i seen the note on his back :D great review!
I want one now!!
My cheap radio doesn't have V tail mixing but all I need is a elevator on the tail. How would I set this up.
Love the intro!
doe the make any more videos?
7:55 i think you guys should have done a shot where you hold the plane with the sun shining behind it, so you can see the carbon fiber rods through it like an x ray
@sterby1 Thanks so much. It totally makes sense!
Nice vid, and you said it was fast but .... where's the high speed power-on/off pass in the video? C'mon! Love that whistling sound when a fast glider goes by with it's motor off.
;-)

"put fingers here" hilarious.
Is this plane still being manufactured? I do not see it on Hobby King's Website?
Bernard Woods i guess the excalibur us replacing it
hey guys,
After seeing this video I was super excited and went to HobbyKing and tried to find the Dynamic-s but realized it was discontinued.
How can I get my hands on one and or what would you recomend for an ARF glider with folding prop and such a rugged design. Also love the V tail, it bad ass.
I want a glider for stunt flying and this is the best one ive seen
just got one!
gr8 stuff guys good job on the video.
I can't wait for the durafly zephyr review!
Ok, this might be silly but... What's the real advantage of V-tail above a regular tail feather set up?
what! you don't do english reading!? 2:33
a friend of mine just bought one !
Great video!
program brake? why would it need brake?
If your doing an FPV system wouldn't a glider like this but with a bigger fuselage be best? All the videos I see of FPV, the plane is always in throttle.
dear Flite test what is ur fav plane/glider under 200$
thnx again TOM
Looks like a clone of the Multiplex Blizzard. In the UK these are also sold by Ripmax as the ST models blaze.
If you guys want to do something really different you could consider coming to California and using your planes to fly over the Maverick's Surfing competition ..Using the Go Pro..easy money and get to work on your tans..
He died in 1977 at the age of 84. A great engineer from Poland.
Does it make that "wooosh" sound as other hotliner?
Hey...What happened to the slow flyer video? The one Josh landed on the heater...!!!
Please repost it!
you need to get a few more challenge vids up
Love it!!!
its exactly the same as an st models blaze just different graphics excellent glider & fast too :)
This kit can no longer be found on hobby kings site, replacement parts only
+Steven Clarke Check the ST Model Blaze ;)
Thanks
It was replaced with the Excalibur I think.
I wonder if the term "Warmliner" was used after Hobbyking saw what happened to the Fox review...
The plane flies brilliantly, fast and agile. Don't even be tempted to try flying with the stock ESC, this could have easily trashed the plane, or worse started a fire.
Is this plane familiar to the multiplex blizzard? would be a cheaper alternative :)
how dose the elevator work
Josh!!! wereis your T9x Tx????
What happened at 6:43?
