Lol, it seems far more sensible to put the jam on first! And now of course I have an urge for scones!! Guess what I'll be making this afternoon! Great to see you back, loved the trip and history of Teignmouth. Thank you my lovelies xx Teresa 🇦🇺❤
How lovely 😊 I loved everything, the history, the walking, Manky posing; 🥰 but my favourite part was the Sew What shop, such beautiful sewing machines and things in that shop window ❤️❤️ and Phil, you looked like you were thoroughly enjoying those cream teas. Thank you for taking us along with you 👌😊🥰
Great to hear you liked so much of this video Deb, and we're so pleased that you liked the sewing machines, as we felt they looked lovely through the window. Yes, I can't deny it!! I did thoroughly enjoy the cream teas 😄 Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
The mere thought of a January dip in the sea brought me out in goosebumps! Brrrrrr! Loved those independent businesses on your walk to the second church, and a husband creche sounded perfect! I haven't ever visited Teignmouth but I think I will be doing so, now I've seen your video! (I might wait for some warmer weather though). Thanks for a lovely video and some local history! Manky looked so comfy as a trainspotter! 👍😊 With regards to the cream teas, I've always judged them, not on taste but on the fact that jam on top always ends up as a sloppy mess, whichever way you make it, so sorry Devon, Cornwall wins this one, hands, or cream, down! But if it comes down to a Devon cream tea, or no cream tea, I'll take the Devon one, thanks!
We're with you on the cold Sea Swimming!! 😱 Not our idea of fun either!! The town is lovely and so many interesting old style shops.... It's great to hear that we've inspired you to pay a visit, when the weather warms up 🌞 I'm happy to eat either Cornish or Devonshire cream teas, I just love jam and clotted cream 😄 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Hi. I did not see your live talk when it was live. It would not let me commit. So I am here. Love you both. I will enjoy anything you want to show us. I can't travel there. Yorkshire is my ancestors home. So I will enjoy seeing my roots. Do what makes you both comfortable. You both are the nicest people. Always a good attitude. Lots of hugs from Texas
Very pretty village! Carolyn I miss your craft videos I hope the next one involves drift wood and sea shells! I am also looking forward to spring to watch your mud larking videos!
That was fun! I was surprised to see an identical Singer sewing machine like mine @6:17 minutes. My grandmother came to Australia with it all the way from Holland. It still works too!
So glad you enjoyed the video Marie-Louise... That's a lovely story about your grandmother's sewing machine... They don't make things to last like that these days! Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Such beautiful views! The cottages are just delightful, and as always the history is fascinating. Cream tea is just one of the delicious sweets in Great Britain. Cream cakes are amazing! Love your videos, keep them coming.
What a wonderful video, you two! And Mankey, of course. Those shops!! 😍 I loved the name of the one with the clock: ShopDeadGorgeous. 🤣🤣 Lovely walk on the beach looking for driftwood. 🥰 I laughed over the cream scones. It's just like the Lilliputians arguing over which end of the egg to crack in Gulliver's Travels. 🤣🤣 See you Saturday night. Warmest regards from frigid southwestern Ontario, Canada. 🥶🥶🤗❤👍
So glad you enjoyed the tour of the town Noralee, and the names of the shops 😄😂 You're right about the scones, whichever way you arrange the ingredients, they still taste very nice 😄 Stay warm and thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Wasn't expecting to see a video of you guys in my town! Didn't know about the French invasion and some of the history you mentioned. Thanks for the history lesson! Hope you enjoyed your little trip to dear Teignmouth
We had a great time in Teignmouth, it's got everything you need for a lovely break and loads of history too! Great to hear that you enjoyed the history, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Wow ! Loved this holiday trip , History was Great of course and all the sights and sounds wonderful . The swim in January was too cold for me 😶🌫 , not my cup of tea . good to see mankey , I'm sure he enjoyed it too . Glad you had the down time and enjoyed it very much . Thanks for sharing . Blessings to you . 🧡💛💜🤎👋
Glad you enjoyed the holiday trip Rosia, we are definitely with you on the winter sea swimming 😱😱 Not our cup of tea either 😄😂 Blessings to you too, and thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Great to see my hometown. But I would like to point out that teignmouth is pronounced Tinmouth. On the ridge line above the town there is a trackway that leads from smugglers lane (near the train tunnels) to teigngrace on Dartmoor. This track was used in the bronze age to transport tin to the coast for export to Europe.
It’s nice to see your faces and hear about your adventure. Here in Ontario Canada the temperature is going to minus 29C tonight. You can rest assured I won’t be going for a dip anywhere! See you tomorrow 👋🇨🇦👋
Yes Debbie, it is a lovely location, and the view from the apartment is stunning. What a great place to enjoy a cream & jam scone 😄 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
What a lovely town! I did laugh incredulously! I love clotted cream and jam sandwiches. I use a bagel for my bread. I am so glad you are back. I didn't know what to do with myself on Fridays and Saturdays. but I am happy that you had a nice holiday and were able to have some downtime to rejuvenate. Cheers guys!
Well now you know that the monks were dishing out clotted cream & jam sandwiches over 800 years ago Laura, but I doubt if they had Bagels 😄😂 It's good to be back 🙂😎🐼
Nice to see you in Deben! I have to say, I prefer to put the cream on first then top with jam! And I tend to eat it slicing the scone & adding the cream & jam to each slice!! The apartment looked tempting too, can't believe you were down there in the depths of Winter - but looked busy, I thought. Keep safe! Dartmouth must be next!!
Yes, we usually add jam and cream to both halves, as we get more clotted cream that way 😄😂 The weather was very kind to us and yes it was quite busy for January! Dartmouth is definitely on our list of places to visit and the castle is a must as it's the first purpose-built coastal artillery fort in Britain. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Absolutely wonderful! I want to live there! Hopefully you get to do a town tour video like this the next time you visit Lyme Regis! Thank you for this. Its a shame that most of the USA doesn't value its history and is mostly chain stores and chain restaurants. Used to be more local and regional places growing up in the 70s
We'll definitely do a tour of Lyme Regis sometime Chris. A lot of our little shops have gone too, but fortunately some areas are protected and the buildings have to be retained in the original style, which does look lovely, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Hi Phil and Caroline I enjoyed seeing a glimpse of your holiday. In Australia we never eat Devonshire scones like that, I havent heard of Cornish scones, We put jam then cream on an open scone, never sandwich them together. Its a great favorite over here too!
Glad you enjoyed the holiday video Beverley... Most cafes and restaurants here leave the scone open these days as it's easier to eat. One thing that never changes is the taste, Mmmm Lovely! Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
A beautiful video with such wonderful history and wow what a view you have! I am curious with all the walls there, has anyplace there done any vertical gardening? It seems like so many places around the globe are doing that or starting to these days. The view there would make a wonderful painting and I love the small shops! I have had the pleasure of eating a scone (Jam on the bottom) It was delicious! I actually prefer peach preserves myself, my second choice is apple butter and cottage cheese on milk biscuts. :)
We chose the apartment for the view Debra, it is brilliant, and whatever the weather it means we will enjoy our stay, as we can just look out the windows! We didn't see any vertical gardening, but it sounds intriguing. We loved the little shops too, and of course, The Scones! I like your variations too, the peach preserve sounds very nice, thanks for sharing them. 🙂😎🐼
So glad you liked the architecture, but sorry that there won't be much mudlarking on the channel from now on as we're reducing the risks while videoing, so focusing on travel. 🙂😎🐼
All you needed to do was make one, then turn it upside down, and you have 2-in-1. Whenever I've been served jam and cream on scones in Cornwall, they have always been served just on two halves, never closed together as one.
The trick is to turn it over as you cross the border between Cornwall & Devon so you don't offend anyone Jan 😄😂 You're right about the open scones, that's how most cafes & restaurants serve them as they are easier to eat, but when bought from a cake shop they are closed. Of course the plus is, that you get more cream & jam to scone when they are open, which is very nice. Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
The ultra modern train looked so out of place in that quaint old station. What a beautiful place. And silly me from USA, expecting tea instead of a scone😂
We miss the old trains, they had a lot more character, but in fairness the modern one's are so much faster. Sorry for the trans Atlantic confusion 😄😂 Tea, over here is the meal we eat in the afternoon 🍰 as well as the hot drink 🍮😄😂Thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Lol, it seems far more sensible to put the jam on first! And now of course I have an urge for scones!! Guess what I'll be making this afternoon! Great to see you back, loved the trip and history of Teignmouth. Thank you my lovelies xx Teresa 🇦🇺❤
Home made scones sound wonderful Teresa. So glad you liked this video, thanks for the great comment 🙂😎🐼
Cream is basically thick butter so why would you make a sandwich and put the jam on before the butter?
Ooo I got so peckish watching this!!😋 that lady was brave swimming in that water Brrrr 🥶
Our Adam ❤
Test tests are hard work Adam, but someone has to do it 😄😂 I'm with you on the cold water swimming 😱 Not for me!! 🙂😎🐼
How lovely 😊 I loved everything, the history, the walking, Manky posing; 🥰 but my favourite part was the Sew What shop, such beautiful sewing machines and things in that shop window ❤️❤️ and Phil, you looked like you were thoroughly enjoying those cream teas. They are a pleasant shade of green Laura, very tasteful. 🙂😎🐼

What an inviting town! I'd love to go there. Both the Devonshire and the Cornish scones look like they would taste amazing! Thank you.
It is a beautiful town, and you're right, whichever way you add the cream & jam, they do "taste amazing" thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Another wonderful journey! I agree, any scone with clotted cream is yummy!❤
Absolutely Angela, I don't mind what order they add them, I just love all the ingredients 😄 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Awesome video, it’s one place I’ve visited. Beautiful scenery and great history too. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️
So glad you enjoyed revisiting Teignmouth with us Chris. You take care too, and thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
That was nice wish I was there hope you made some tea and finished up those delish scones
The scones soon disappeared Karen 😄😂 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
I think the one with the jam spilling out of it looks the best! 😀 Happy to see y'all's smiling faces again.
It certainly tasted nice Joni... It's good to be back, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Very pretty village! Carolyn I miss your craft videos I hope the next one involves drift wood and sea shells! I am also looking forward to spring to watch your mud larking videos!
Hi Becky, it was good to have the break, but we're back now and the craft videos are starting again, thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼
Fab video from my fave trio!! I love Devon and Cornwall, I'm so jealous!! 🥰🥰 Xx
Glad you liked the video Leanne, hope the cream & jam scones made up for the lack of 'BRICKS' 😄 thanks for watching 🙂😎🐼

So glad you are back! Really liked this video and the history, but I must admit, I am hungry for a scone and some cream and jam now! 😊
It's good to be back Michele, and we hope you've tried the scone recipe for yourself, either Devon or Cornish, or like me BOTH! 😄

Great to see Teignmouth on here, I live here and got married in ST James church so this was very interesting to me. Also cream first without a doubt.

Lol I definitely need that Luney house sign for my house( funny cos luney as in loony or crazy nuts bonkers lol)
As in Looney Tunes Chris 😄😂
See you then
If you turn the scone with it's fillings upside down you get the other version 😊
Very true 😄😂
Yes but you don't put the two halves together, You should have cream then jam on each half of the scone and eat them separately
