dwm - "the hardest tiling windows manager to exhist." sick, glad i picked this for my first linux experience lol. learning a lot so far thats for sure!
thank you dude, you're actually a hidden gem in the DWM howto video scape, you should do more videos! as a casual DWM user I actually learnt alot of new stuff ! :D
Using git branches for each patch and merging the branch into the master branch is the most efficient way to preserve a working dwm instance before adding a patch.
Good tips on what to do post installation! Now, for anyone wanting to know how to actually install dwm on an Arch-based system, just open a terminal and type 'sudo pacman -S i3-gaps'. Don't worry about the spelling... that's just one of the quirks of dwm. :P
_Windows_ is likes vanilla ice cream _Mac_ is like Ice Cream restaurant. Even to buy *cookies* you have to rely on the restaurant staff _Linux_ is like street ice cream stall - You have Chocolate, butterscotch, mango all flavours. You could get stomach upset but variety is great.
@@morundo ua-cam.com/video/wLq2NecAq3A/v-deo.html This is the patch I was talking about. dwm.suckless.org/patches/alwayscenter/ All it does is make sure that floating windows are always centered when spawned, so it's not exactly what you want, but close.
Is there any way to make slstatus blocklets clickable like in dwmblocks? I'm looking to switch from dwmblocks as it's the biggest pain in the ass I've ever had. I scroll to change the volume and 2 other blockets randomly disappear until they refresh and show again. pain and suffering
Ik this is late, but if you still need it or someone else, there is dwmblocks-async which is the best solution i found, fixes all the bugs. Works perfectly.
@@menzokruizingainteresting i have nvidia gtx 860m laptop card but it runs smoothly. arcolinux's wm versions are preconfigured nicely, i only make minor tweaks after the installation like changing the bar colors and couple of keyboard shortcuts. that's why i also like preconfigured version, because tweaking is way faster than building from ground.

I wouldn't call it the hardest. It has a learning curve and config.h scares some people away but most get the hang of it if they have time for it.

What needs to be shown for the noobs is how to setup from the beginning the bar without pulling down your configs… fresh setup bare bones
you mean opening the config file?
You can build dwm without dmenu existing.
how do i make dwm remember floating windows position?
Install the Always Center Patch
@@TheLinuxCast sorry i'm new to dwm, installed and then ?

The translation of subtitles does not work. Very interesting, but nothing is clear.
Use git branches to manage dwm patches and u all good.

As far as I know, you can't do that with slstatus.

I really like Dwm but because I have bad eyes
Onless it’s preconfigured I can’t use it
