    This reminds me of a proverb from the Bible: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.". Proverbs 23:7 kjv
    Also, the word : "repent."
    From the French, "penser" is the infinitive of "think". "Re-" is a prefix which means "again". Therefore, "repent" means "to think again ". Which is what you are describing in this lesson.
    Another expression from the NIV Bible is to "take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.". (2Corinthians 10:5niv).
    Thank you ever so much for all you do Raelan...quite amazing how many ways that we who are dealing with ME, CFS, FM and many other physical ailments can indeed overcome by what and how we think.
    Dr. Norman Doidge wrote a few books about the brain and how the brain can heal itself and help the body to heal itself.... fascinating.

      I am a born again Christian and nearly 7 years into the hellish symptoms of M.E. I described it as SAS bootcamp in suffering. My words and how I talk about the level of suffering was extreme because that was my experience. Nearly completely traumatic. I will be er forget the first few years as that was when I was in a constant state of tired wired and I had extreme insomnia for years. The symptoms list was so long. Now I have worked so hard to heal and spend so much money. Trying so hard to be more positive and trusting God that he has allowed me to go through all these years of suffering. I have learnt so much and absolutely determined to be healthy again and function like a normal person. Trying brain retraining and never give up hope. It's a long trial but I believe God will put an end to it. I pray I learn all the lessons to be learnt

      @@esthercave8111 Dear Esther, hang in there with God as your Rock and the Holy Spirit as your Guide and Teacher. Let the words of Jesus comfort and console you .
      The Word of God has many examples of people being healed. Read through the Book of Acts...quite a few examples.
      Read also one of my favorite portions of Psalm 103:1-5, especially verse 3.
      Yes, you have had a tough time....perhaps that is the cross you have to bare....but God will do a marvelous thing in your life.... continue to strive just like the Apostle Paul....read Philippians chapter 3 and 4.
      You have already taken a huge step of faith of your perseverance.... keep persevering my Dear Sister in the Lord!!! With Love in Christ to you and your family.

    If anyones curious to different modalities, I see using EFT/Tapping alongside these words shifts as being really helpful. EFT helps halt the stress response to the amygdala by tapping on our meridian lines. Lots of youtube videos on it if anyone is curious.

    Another great one that Ben Ahrens says is "This sensation that is less than PLEASANT" . It's always good to find the antonym for the negative words associated with that pain.

    When Raelan used the phrase “thought catching”, I thought of the same scripture verse; “take every thought captive” from 2 Corinthians 10:5. We as a society are very “lazy” thinkers, allowing every thought to come in and live within our minds. I like to use the following word picture: I think of my mind as the runway of an airport and I am the air traffic controller; it is up to me which thoughts I allow to land and which I don’t allow clearance to land!
    Another scripture verse that instructs to think along positive lines is: “Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything’s is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

      What helps me regarding "thought catching" is just, in the moment, when I can't think of anything more therapeutic is to say "Bad Thought!" Strange as it seems, that does help me.

    I just find language fascinating and the concept " healing by language" absolutely mesmerizing. After all, what therapy does is language. All that the therapist does is talking and listening to you.

    I use my true personality nickname given a long time ago, which is funny and reminds me of who I really am. That person doesn’t do these symptoms (yes, DO) and is silly, confident and a total powerhouse. Easiest reframe!

    I know I used those words and I didn’t know it was a bad thing I am going to try to change my vocabulary I know that I used those words because that’s what I am feeling I am glad I just found out about you because it gives me hope and I was loosing that because I was feeling like every time I open a door thinking about some help,I received some but not really what I was needing I am very perseverance and I don’t accept very easy a not because I think if work hard to find an answe to my health issues I will find it like I found you. I know I have a big challenge because if my chronic dehydration I will definitely will chan those words and see what happens thank you so much for everything you are letting us know

    This is a helpful hint. I liked the substitution of "banana" for "pain." It occurs to me to substitute "alligator" for pain. Somehow that makes the whole scene appropriately dramatic in a silly way and quite funny. 'My alligator is loose today" or "my alligator is bigger than your alligator. "

    I am using DNRS to cure long Covid. Helps very good so far but you have to be committed to it and do your training every day.
    Healing is not linear and when it gets tough, It helps me a lot to visualize my life how i want it to be.

    Interesting. But my fear is that" underdescribing" your symptoms to a great degree would sometimes suppress emotions, which again could lead to stress building up. I think this technique is good as a starting point, but when you're really suffering my experience is that it is better to tell it like it is (if you have someone to share it with, otherwise maybe write it down). Then it's easier to move on and I often feel better immediately.

      Yes, you have to recognise the pain but no dwell on it, let it pass and realise it's just perceived danger pain. Knowing that the pain/fatigue is just an over protective limbic system is a huge step forward in recovery.

    Really liked this. My finger joints aren’t as comfortable right now - would loved to have been open and fun and gliding. And my muscles don’t feel as flexible open and loose as I would have loved … would love to feel like a yogi. Also my eyes are not as comfortable , sharp and lubricated. And am not as energised too. Hmm. Yes. I feel good saying that haha thanks!! thanks so much!!

    Hi Raelan, thanks for your videos. These techniques are very useful for breaking the cycle of our stressed out Autonomic Nervous systems, and allowing healing. But I have a but: if we have CFS and then we get covid, knowing that covid can do significant physiological damage that can take a long time to heal, how do we reframe that? Do you have any videos on that kind of thing? Basically a significant symptom flare up that isn't coming from a dysfunctional ANS. I've had CFS for a few years, but now I'm on my 3rd covid infection this year, and this one has caused me to "have a lot less capacity than I'd like." I feel like it's really set me back this time. I know that it'll probably heal over time, but my understanding is that for a lot of people with Long Covid it takes many months, and I'm worried I'll catch it again before I can get back to where I was before, with "only" CFS.

      Mindset and NLP are going to be game changers whether there is something truly going on or not. So, getting COVID...there is an actual virus your body is dealing with, but do you think your body is going to recover from the virus better in a fight or flight state or a healing state? You don't have to ignore that you have COVID, but instead maybe think "my body deserves my love and support to help it heal quicker and more fully" or "if I can calm my nervous system through even this, I'll be that much better at it when things are easier." I track my heart rate variability and it definitely improves when I'm able to find more hope, gratitude, calm and compassion. Just thinking about what I'd like to feel like instead can improve how I feel in the moment. If you're able to feel that wash of relief/calm, even for a second, remember that...and know that seconds can turn to minutes, hours, days, weeks, etc of feeling improvement 💜

      This almost what you describe happened to me. Been doing a lot of ans work and was almost fully healed but then after my last covid (or other virus) got really bad (fleare ups of new symptoms)
      Been looking for info about this without luck so far.
      How are you doing? Have you found anything helpful?

    Hey I just got CFS but not after an Infektion and it came now in a timespan of 2 Months. Do you think it is possible to get rid of it again 😅

    If you can put these techniques into the category of your building a new neural pathway and that takes time it takes repetition and your building that new road you’re not using it yet it’s not serving you yet but once the pathway the new road the new freeway is complete through repetition and practice then at some point you can divert the traffic from those old trauma-based pathways of illness and disease and switch it over to the new pathway and then eventually that old pathway that is no longer being used or maintained will simply die away and Al that is left to use the only pathway, road the brain can access is the new one and symptoms will dissolve and dissipate. Good luck. It isn’t mind over matter truly wrap the thought process around your building a new neural pathway and it takes a lot of work but once it’s done and complete then you begin to switch consciously switch from the old one to the new one and then eventually the old one will no longer be accessible to the brain it takes a lot of practice. Having a practice partner and accountability partner daily is key and critical for success in my opinion.

    NLP Reframing?
    At first I thought this was not real then I remembered a medical news report I seen some time ago.
    The report was regarding the condition that some children experience.
    The condition involves the child experiencing pain despite the fact that nothing is wrong with the child physically.
    The pain is mental.
    The cause of the condition is that the child experienced some form of pain and as a result, limited his or her movement. That limitation in turn programmed the brain to send pain signals whenever the child moves. The child would then refuse to move and exacerbate the condition.
    The cure for this condition in the child is to not to just force the child to move and experience the pain, but to convince the child that in order to be cured, he or she must move despite the pain.
    What this forced movement by the child does, is retrain the child's brain to understand that there is in fact nothing wrong with the body and that movement in and of itself, does not equal pain.
    So I can figure this to have some valid useful functionality in adults as well.

    This sounds like self gaslighting? I'm not saying that ruminating on symptoms and making them unnecessarily bigger is a good path. But this has its downsides too.
    Plus it might make people surrounding you think that it's not such a big deal then, when you have just an annoying banana.

      There comes a point where you have to decide either you want to explain and point out your suffering to people or go (more or less) straight for healing. I decided for the second one and guess what- my friends still get my conditions and I feel already better by not always declaring myself as pain-ridden and disabled.

The fact is that no matter how well or how often, we try to convey/ explain this condition ( even to those who care most about us); they cannot be expected to comprehend. I came to that conclusion a long time ago, as in my life previous to Cfs/ ME, there was nothing to compare with this level of fatigue.
      Therefore, it is a frustrating waste of time and precious energy to repeatedly try. I do think that it is therapeutic to unload the burden sometimes, but not as a general rule to everyone. Most important of all, is what we tell ourselves. A precious elderly lady once told me...' The first rule of mental health is to think well of yourself'...and I now know that the mind/ body connection is not to be ignored.
      Hope my words help someone else ...I plan to take the path of linguistic reframing from today...and it makes no difference what other people think. I am the one who is living this ordeal...aka adventure!!!!!!!!

      In the last decade there has been a lot of research on the use of NLP as a therapeutic tool. It's difficult to quantity its effectiveness because it encompasses a range of practices and is not well defined. But there are a number of examples in scientific publications that show positive results.
      If it works for a person, does it matter if it's labeled as pseudo science by some?
