how is it producing so many notes just by touching? In guitar if we pick once it produces just one note.. this is also a string instrument..so what's the difference?
Santoor is a percussion instrument.We use a pair of thin sticks called Kalam to strike on the strings. The more we hold the kalams lightly & manoeuvre and allow them to bounce on the strings and vibrate, the more the trilling sound and thereby we come close to achieve the moving sound movement called Meend whereas in Guitar, we pluck the strings with one hand and manoeuvre the sound with the other on the frets. The Meend effect is much more in Guitar.
