I've never ever seen a band like nile play there songs without a metronome/drum machine but play at the correct tempo and remain to keep there riffage tight as hell! Fantastic musicians.
Nile is the most congruent death metal band I think I've ever heard. Every time I hear one of their songs Im transported to Ancient Egypt. I swear listening to them is like listening to a damn sound track
+Poop N Pee Sammich Proudly saw Nile when Dallas was sporting the skullet (a place called the Galaxy Theatre back when I lived in OC SoCal)... he looked like troll doll freak... he still is a freak of nature though... how many metal lead can do vox and play like him live?
Dallas and Karl are two of my biggest influences in guitar playing and I've noticed that I've started playing with that very closed picking stance of Dallas' while bobbing my head like Karl. In my opinion, it makes me play better.
I feel like a lot of people, including die-hard death metal fans just don't get Nile. I mean, (and this is just my own opinion) I think Nile are probably one of the most violent sounding death metal bands around. They're really isn't another band that sounds like them which depending on some people's opinions, may be a good thing. I wish there were more bands that sound like this though. There's just something about Karl and Dallas guitar tone or SOMETHING. I dunno man.
hell yeah dude. I remember reading somewhere that Mahavishnu john mclaughlin said he was fascinated by how some players held their guitars. Plus videos of players like Karl and Dallas are super inspiring.
they have some really great right hand picking techniques. It's hard to do that on a les paul cause it's not flat where your picking. It's a lot easier to pick fast when your right hand is on a flat surface.
@ExplorerFreak " Hallo hier ist Frank von Metal Hammer und ich stehe hier mit Dallas und Karl ". Translated: " Hello, it's me, Frank from Metal Hammer, and i'm standing here with Dallas and Karl "
that was a fucking GREAT video .. I love how they just totally throw down Black Seeds of vengeance.. and are totally just fucking around at the end of the video lmao good shit
@Metalobsession94 Indeed they do. You can tell from this and other videos that these guys won't pack up Nile and leave it anytime soon. Dallas, Karl, George, they love what they do. Best kind of chemistry you can have in a band. -And their session bassist is now a full member =) I'm already dying for a new Nile record, and a new solo record from Karl.
as for volume knobs it is probably just because live they never use a clean tone, or if they do they have a seperate channel for i string gauge they talk about in some of their videos on Metalkult... I believe it is a custom gauge. Karl uses lighter strings than Dallas, but Dallas uses like an 11-70 with a wound 3rd
These patterns are meant to be used anyway. I think that a lot of composers (if not all of them) use techs like that in songs. Which is fine, don't get me wrong.
3:34 - 3:36 That's what I call "the best smile ever"... but damn, He fucking rocks... I saw Nile live 2 weeks ago, they kicked audience's ass with some Brutal, Egyptian, Motherfucking metal!!
these guys are the best when it comes to jam interveiws they way they will start jammin the explanations are the awesome. Theres always a thingy or bendy lmao.
4:45 I thought Dallas was chucking away his pick! I wish they did more 'beginner' stuff, and I hope to God that someone films Karl's lessons while on their US tour. COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA!
dude, strings that big are amazing at low tunings, even though he only uses a .60 gauge, for a really bassey sound, use the GHB low tune set, the low .70 string kicks ass!!
If only James Cameron applied the avatar concept to egypt and egyptian mysticism...It'd be awsome. Of course the masters of that style, Nile, would score it
If you think about a band like Cannibal Corpse, most people only care about their classic albums. But with Nile, because of Karl and Dallas, every album they put out is just as interesting as their first album.
I've never ever seen a band like nile play there songs without a metronome/drum machine but play at the correct tempo and remain to keep there riffage tight as hell! Fantastic musicians.

Karl learned all his guitar skills from the Book of the Dead, using magick to call upon the jinn which wonder the egyptian ruins...
only if Rusty Cooley wrote it!?
Bullshit his heart is as light as a feather.
🧟♂️
WHOA... DAT BLACK SEEDS OF VENGEANCE
They really are. I swear every time I watch artists like them just going at it my playing gets enhanced.
4:37 "FUCK the beginners" xD haha
we feel this guys really like playing together :)
God damn, there is something about listening to metalheads playing "raw" that makes me crack a smile. I love this shit!
Dallas with the Skullet....love it.
*****
The guy is just too perfect... he must have some serious skeletons in his closet.
Karl is the chillest guy ever
And the Gods of metal appeared from beneath the shadows. In their possession was a gift to the world. This gift was Nile.
Best cover of Black Seeds of Vengeance on youtube! Oh, hi Karl and Dallas.
Dallas and Karl are two of my biggest influences in guitar playing and I've noticed that I've started playing with that very closed picking stance of Dallas' while bobbing my head like Karl. In my opinion, it makes me play better.
I love Karl and Dallas. Nile has such an amazing array of talent. Kollias is my favorite drummer, as well.
All of Karl's guitars look sick.
This video is so great !I enjoy to look their enjoyment for this music and want everytime to play guitar direct after I watched this vid
Awesome. Thanks for posting the video. Hail Nile.
These guys are amazing.I dont know how they do it!
Dallas should really return to Nile....
These two are such inspiration!! I love nile.
Their playing is just insane, inhuman.
its so cool seeing these guys
yep, their warm up is what i do at max of my ability, great
these guys really love the music they're playing!
omg the sound of Karls guitar... crazy
I feel like a lot of people, including die-hard death metal fans just don't get Nile. +Tyler Huffer I agree there heavy as fuck !! I love the Egyptian sounding scales. but I think death metal fans get them
+Alex Ferus True! And I'm not saying death metal fans don't get them, I just feel like a lot of people overlook them. :p
o ok bro
Surgically tight rhythm players man. Reminiscent of Pat Obrien and Jack Owen.
They are Real Artists
hell yeah dude. I remember reading somewhere that Mahavishnu john mclaughlin said he was fascinated by how some players held their guitars. Plus videos of players like Karl and Dallas are super inspiring.

For Karl and Dallas they work great well great blends of tone
I love the way Karl nods his head while playing. "Yeah, this is fucking happening". This guy is a fucking legend.
and Karl Sanders looked like he was going MOOOOOOOOOOOO at the mic at any second during the gig.
damn this sounds so hard!! even without drums! fuck man! they are awesome!^^
Nile is my favorite band!! and its the best band ever!!
I dont know how they play that they have perfect timing, perfect accuracy, and insane stanima.
These guys r freakin awesome hail Nile!!! 💯
2 of my greatest heroes
Half into the song I forgott there werent no drums! Sounds amazing even with the guitars only!
Thank you Nile!
karl's playing is so clean and tight
I think that Black Seeds of Vengeance is the favourite song that Karl has ever written.
neither of them use volume or tone knobs. they wire their guitars straight to the jack and use volume pedals. i saw a video where they explained why
thnx for uploading this
Dallas' face is priceless
this is so fascinating. freakin NILE are an empire
I like these two. Good boys.
@ExplorerFreak " Hallo hier ist Frank von Metal Hammer und ich stehe hier mit Dallas und Karl ".
Translated: " Hello, it's me, Frank from Metal Hammer, and i'm standing here with Dallas and Karl "
I love their fucking TONE!!!!
that was a fucking GREAT video .. I love how they just totally throw down Black Seeds of vengeance.. and are totally just fucking around at the end of the video lmao good shit

I'm already dying for a new Nile record, and a new solo record from Karl.
Dallas: "heh we were just doin' it" Man im such a child.
as for volume knobs it is probably just because live they never use a clean tone, or if they do they have a seperate channel for i
string gauge they talk about in some of their videos on Metalkult... I believe it is a custom gauge.
Karl uses lighter strings than Dallas, but Dallas uses like an 11-70 with a wound 3rd
i think the first exersise gets that sort of scream sound because dallas has the wah pressed
not sure if it's wah but it's close
3:06 to 3:11
Karl's 'just run a marathon' red face, and head moveements.
Whole video:
Dallas' nods of approval
LOL
that marshall sounds like my metalzone direct to the mixer
i like them , Nile is a gigantic death metal band
These patterns are meant to be used anyway.
I think that a lot of composers (if not all of them) use techs like that in songs. Which is fine, don't get me wrong.
3:34 - 3:36
That's what I call "the best smile ever"... but damn, He fucking rocks... I saw Nile live 2 weeks ago, they kicked audience's ass with some Brutal, Egyptian, Motherfucking metal!!
What an abstract sense of humor.
Karl cackling at 8:45 .. so wicked .. he knows eXcatly what he did
YEAHHH that why i like Nile!!!
these guys are the best when it comes to jam interveiws they way they will start jammin the explanations are the awesome. Theres always a thingy or bendy lmao.
Karl's warmup uses the same diminished scale as the opening riff to Papyrus Containing(etc)
/Theory noob
0:45 Dallas looks like he slammed a beer before this scene lol
Dallas' shirt: "got frappe?"
Now that's metal.
I love that ml and one of those
I like the way they talk.
three note string...thing
look at dallas's face at 4:13 and listen to karls laugh at 9:42, LOL! these guys are amazing.
im sorry but if i was the cameraman i wouldnt have been able to resist shouting along at the end, "BLACK SEEDS OF VENGUUUUUUUNCE!"
"alright this is something i like to do on a regular basis" *drinks suspicious liquid*
i know it's the mic the tv people are using but Sanders sounds like he's playing through teabags. The technique's superb mind you
4:45 I thought Dallas was chucking away his pick!
I wish they did more 'beginner' stuff, and I hope to God that someone films Karl's lessons while on their US tour.
COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA!
I love Dallas
they kick ass hell yeah
Excellent playing :O
At 2:28
He doesnt even look like hes trying
They are awesome
\m/
Yes, Nile lyrics are just about Egyptian Mitology :) Hail NILE
karl actually uses an 10-70 set i couldnt believe it when i first saw it, there like truck towing cables lol
HAIL NILE!
I wish they would make intrumental versions of their songs,i 'm not saying the vocals suck but their music is fuckin brilliant.
Anyone know what pedals they're using in this vid?
I can see the JCM2000's and their EQ settings, but I'm interested as to what they out in the amps.
@SpaceEater1000 you mean karl, right?
dude, strings that big are amazing at low tunings, even though he only uses a .60 gauge, for a really bassey sound, use the GHB low tune set, the low .70 string kicks ass!!
the riffs in general are so cool, just check out Burning the pits... Karl said once that Dallas is a killer for impossible/beyond this earth riffs!
I love their fucking awesome egiptian style, hail nile! \m/
you see the marshall tops in the background?
This magic
They make it looks so goddamn easy, they just glide across the fret board..
their 4 hands cannot defeat Pat
I would loan my engl fireball 100 to these guys so i can sit back and watch them warm up then play a nile song of my choice
which strings and frets is he using on the first one?
4:13 dallas is like "o yea u like tht huh? =D
lol @ 0:40 "this is something i like to do on a regular basis" (karl grabs his beer)
at least i think thats a beer
these guys are fuckin sick.. wow.. love it!
whats the gnarly looking green drink that Karl takes a sip from at :44?
their deans are awesome...dean rules!!
He probably does...I mean that's pretty easy to tell the difference between the two. The sound and the actual fingerings are pretty different.
what are these black buttons on karl's guitar?
he hasn't got volume knobs on his guitar.
whats that?
At the end, they're doing the end of "Cast down the Heretic."
If only James Cameron applied the avatar concept to egypt and egyptian mysticism...It'd be awsome. Of course the masters of that style, Nile, would score it
