I worked 15 years for a Bluebird school bus dealership and toured the factory in Ft Valley. I got to see Wanderlodges being made before Volvo shut that down. They were all custom units. So no two are identical. They built one for a Saudi prince that was able to self contain for 7 days in the desert. The unit had marble though out a real water fountain and 24kt gold faucets. The company that insured the building of the Wanderlodge hired 24/7 security to guard the gold fixtures so that no one would steal them. These were made in their own workshop on the office side of Blue Bird Blvd. Opposite the school bus factory. These were all hand built starting with an AARE Chassis modified to suite.
This has GOT to be the only bus shop in the country....maybe in the world....where the buses have to thread their way to the garage through a forest and perform a hill climb. Very unique, and I love that. This is a really genius idea, Scott.
I am loving this channel!! Im an old dude now, but grew up riding in these old buses. Learned to drive in a 4104, and had been everywhere by the time I was12. My dad drove for Greyhound and Trailways, and I still have his 2 million mile pin Greyhound gave him. In the 70's he started his own charter business, and man learned a lot about buses then. One of my biggest gripes was lugging......it was expensive to fix back then too, and a real pain when you just fixed that bus, and a driver would lug it over a grade and back. I just want to thank you for putting up these videos, as they bring back fond memories for me.....like riding 100's of miles sitting on a briefcase in the stair well of every bus, and many I havent seen yet on your channel. My all time favorites are the superscenics, and golden eagles. Keep bringing the videos! I love every one of them!!
Original owner made a great decor choice on that wonderlodge. I wouldn't change a thing on the inside decor wise. It's a very timeless look. Love the outside too, very impressive.
I owned a prevost with a 8v92ta and the happiest day of my life was when I ripped that boat anchor out and installed a 12.7 series 60 in it. I built it for a conservative 600hp and it really moved.
I previously owned a prevost with the 8v92ta and it was a very happy day when I ripped that gutless leaky pile of crap out and put in a 600hp 12.7 series 60 that I built for it. That re-power increased the value of the coach by probably 30k and I was able to do it for half of that.
we have had our 90 Wanderlodge SP 36 for almost 5 years.. i bought it sight unseen and flew to AR to get it and then drove it back to NC.. we love it !!
This is such a cool shop, the arches actually make me think of the Hollywood Bowl. The lighting in there just makes it so dramatic. It's so fascinating to see all these cool buses.
Makes me think of the movie “Field of Dreams”. Build it, and they will come, wow are they ever. It seems non stop. You might have to create a paved parking pad as a staging area. Some place mud free so people can come and get minor repairs and oil changes.
You just about need to put in traffic lights on your drive you are getting so much business 😁, good for you, you have been at it long enough you deserve the rewards, Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
The “Tone” / reluctor wheel is part of wheel speed sensor that is used as part of anti-lock brake system and also can be used as part of speedometer. The most common ways for those wheels to be damaged outside of the hub being dropped or something coming loose inside the brake drum and hitting it is from a wheel stud being replaced. All that said unless the warning light on the dash has been disabled the ABS warning light should be illuminated on the dash indicating a system malfunction because of the damaged tone/reluctor wheel
Now that you have a Fixed Base Operation, Lenny's getting less attention and fewer wonderful cross country trips. Maybe time to hire a full time mechanic?
Did you convert those steer axle hubs from grease over to oil-fed? I started my career as a heavy-duty truck mechanic in the mid-seventies, and one of the first jobs I did after hiring in to a large midwestern company was to convert all the steers from grease-packed to oil. They were experiencing a lot of bearing failures at around 60,000-plus, and the oil conversions pretty-much took care of that. If I were that owner, I would have had you change 'em over! enjoy your videos!!!! 😊
Maybe get some wands from Amazon for night ops. Just an idea. I have some and they help when I'm backing my trailer up in the dark. Then you could marshal them out of the shop.
Wow you really cut the minimum trees down for the road!! I'd cut all those off the sides of it to not worry but also daylight the road, unless there zero issues in wet weather
Scott, do you think there was something up with the back brakes maybe not working fully and causing the fronts to get hot, heat check, and get those seals leaking?
I would love an LXI. I built my garage, I only had 41 feet so my LX just fits. LXI never fit so I love my LX. I think 'On the Road Again' is song #1 on the musical horn. 2 weeks to the big WOG gathering in Pine Mountain GA anyone want to see a park full of them open to tour (most). Come on by. Trying to get mine ready.
Hi Scott, how can I get a hold of you need to have a ballpark estimate on having some airbags replace down the road on our 1995 country coach can you reach out to me thanks, Paul
It’s hard to tell. I believe it goes in 1st and then the torque converter locks, and then it goes into second…I don’t think it did to be honest. The hill was steep, and he didn’t get up that fast.
This S60 has been hopped up. It shifted to second when I let off. I will give it the beans next time, especially if there is not a bus parked where Robbie's was with project supplies on both sides of the drive.
@@jimreynolds7380 jakes on it? How much hp? I believe that’s a Gen 3 with the Allison, and they went with the shifter that doesn’t show what gear you’re in, unlike Gen 2 and Gen 4.

How much long term success have you had with Goodyear air bags? I no longer buy Goodyear because their rubber is poop, had many bad experiences with their tires.
Speaking of ABS tone rings. Does anyone know where I can get drive hubs for my 2001 MCI 102DL3 with Meritor axle? The hubs are fine but the tone rings are messed up and are fixed in the hub.

That beast makes Lenny look like a toy bus. Holy cow!
@@Wildstar40 I love Lenny. Just can't believe how big that bus is.
Beast was the first word that came to my mind when I first looked at that thing also.
That reluctor ring on the front wheel hub is for the anti lock braking system.

I love the old 2 strokes but that DD series 60 is a heck of and engine. I saw some with 1.5 million miles before an in frame.

As much as i love the sound of a 71 or 92 two stroke, the Series 60 sounds great, and is one heck of an engine.

The new shop and UA-cam are drawing a crowd. You might have to build another shop building.

Please read this message KT 3406E has got 3 2-stroke diesels going to scrap they might be handy for you I hate to see waste
Trees at 2:38 to 2:53 were a bit too close for driver comfort. Think you need to get the tree feller tractor out again. 🤔

Are you sure that toothed ring is not for the ABS? I just replaced mine on my car, which split. If it is, he should have received an ABS warning.

Yes you could.....but it was funny
That was a really nice bus....... why were the brakes squeaking at the end?
Brake Dust
The owner of the beauty should consider putting on CentraMatic wheel balancers. That will save steer tires especially and improve overall performance.
Already has them. 🙂
