I can’t thank you enough for this!!!

My PC was recognizing the external hard disk but it could not access any files. Running CHKDSK (Solution 4) worked for me. Thank you very much for explaining these solutions !!
Thank you so much! Chkdsk solution worked for me, took 5 hours to scan a half full 1Tb drive. Curiously my Mac could see the drive but Windows unable to read it. All back to normal, very grateful.
None of these fixes worked for me either. However, I haven't sent the hard drive off for repair. The command prompt chkdsk option took two day to run and then told me there were no errors. I know my files are on the disc because one of the options I tried showed every file that was on the drive as is scanned them. I only use this external drive as a backup for my laptop. The last backup was in January and it worked fine. Now when I click on the Seagate Dashboard to run a backup, I get an error message that says "The Seagate management system has not started. The application will close" There is no other option but to close the app. The Device manager option you suggested told me the device was working properly. However, all attempts to fix have so far have failed. My next option will be to delete the software and try redownloading it and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, then I will reformat the hard drive and start over. Hopefully then it will work and I can run a fresh backup. Thanks for your info to try to help.
Update: I ran a virus scan on my external drive and found a high risk Trojan file. I fixed that but still the Dashboard wouldn't open. I still got the same error message. I then deleted my Seagate Dashboard program and reinstalled it from the website (now called Seagate tool). That fixed it. I am now able to run a backup, like I have always done. Whew! It took 2.5 days of trying things. Wish I had started with the program delete and reinstallation.

The only thing found that maybe clued me to think the hard drive is too full to function is that a scan did found fragmented/corrupt files related to GoPro .LRV files but it stated that there is not enough space to repair. I quickly clicked the scan and it appeared to lock up at 1% but after just leaving it be for an hour, I came back and it was at 30% which is where is stayed... I went ahead and tried the recover function which queued me to pay the $70 fee which I did. I was able to save most of the files to another drive to include the important Christmas videos. This morning, I went to do remaining and the software lost connection and now unable to get the software to see the drive again. Hi, thanks for all the tips here. In my case I have a PC and external LC Power hd case and recently purchased Seagate 2TB but now Windows says Access Denied... Disk Management tool sees it as healthy, cmd prompt also checked OK, but just cannot access data from Windows...
Hi there, thank you for your question. If Windows is showing "Access Denied" for your Seagate 2TB external hard drive, despite it being recognized as healthy in Disk Management and passing checks in Command Prompt, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue: Check Drive Letter: Ensure that the external hard drive is assigned a drive letter in Disk Management. If not, right-click on the drive in Disk Management, choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths," and assign a letter. Permissions and Ownership: Right-click on the drive in File Explorer. Select "Properties" and go to the "Security" tab. Click on "Advanced" and go to the "Owner" tab. Change the owner to your current user account. Check and adjust permissions by clicking on "Edit" in the "Security" tab.
Thanks so much for your response, it worked but most of the data got lost. Nevermind that, it was a tutorials backup disk... Cheers and thanx again@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware
I have a 2TB external hard disk. It has two partitions I can access one partion (194gb) but the bigger partition isn’t opening. My hard disk heated up like never before when the problem started. Help me
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try disconnecting and cooling down the drive first. Check connections and cables, test it on another computer, and use disk management tools to see if the partition appears but needs a drive letter assignment. If the partition remains inaccessible, use data recovery software to retrieve data from the corrupted partition. Before attempting any recovery, back up any accessible data from the working partition.
Hi i have an issue whereas whenever i plugh external hard drive my computer starts slowing down and lagging, i checked the disk it says its working properly? What am i supposed to do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Check the USB ports and cables for any faults and try connecting the hard drive to a different port. Scan your computer for malware and viruses to ensure they are not causing the performance issues. Update the drivers for both the external hard drive and USB controllers to the latest versions. Optimize your computer's performance through tasks like disk cleanup and defragmentation. Test the external hard drive on another computer to determine if the issue is specific to your system. Consider using a powered USB hub to provide sufficient power to the hard drive.
Guys I could really appreciate some help. My HDD is recognized. It shows up with a drive letter, but not the name I renamed the HDD. I’ve done recovery tool scans on it and it found the files, I was even able to preview many of them! So the files are still *there*, but I can’t access it through My PC. What could be wrong? Is this a partition issue?
recoverit couldn't find the files in my drive. How should I proceed? (it keeps on loading at 0% and it says the device has been removed even though it has not)
I was actually very fortunate and was able to transfer all my files from the external hardrive onto other disks before formatting it but still won't initialize on my computer. It shows up in the disk management area but not in the File Explorer area. There is no longer a drive letter assigned to it. Just says element 2620 and refuses to intialize.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video it could be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, using the chkdsk command, I tried to fix my external HDD but it didn't work. Initially, It seemed working by displaying the file system type (NTFS), however, the chkdsk process was ultimately aborted and a message pops out saying "the first NTFS boot sector is corrupt or unreadable". It then seems trying to read the second sector (displayed such a message) but again, it states that it's unable to determine its volume and state. Ultimately, I couldn't access my data. Any help ???
So none of these things allowed me to access the drive, so downloading your software to recover things on the drive would not work because the drive is not accessible
Hi there, thank you for your question! If your drive isn't accessible at all still then it might be a mechanical issue and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
The recovery process is too slow, but am seeing most of the files I need to recover, Is it advisable for me to stop the recovery process halfway or it's important for me to wait till 100%
mine was just loading forever......... can't open it on file explorer, cant open on disk management also loading forever, even chkdsk isnt working also loading forever...
i tried but my issue is not resolved got this reply can you help what to do? The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.
Sir i have an external hard drive when i connected to the computer it looks fine every thing but when i open this external drive not responding even i tried to format or every process not working going to busy every time is it hardware problem or software plz help me
My external wd disk doesnt show in windows explorer but in disk mgmt n device manager. But when i click to initialize in disk mgmbt it says request failed due fatal hardware error
Hi there, If your external hard disk is not showing up in disk management, it's possible that there is an issue with the connection between the hard disk and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Check the cable and connections. Check if the hard disk is spinning up. Check if the hard disk is recognized on another computer. Check the power supply. Try data recovery software. Download Recoverit here: bit.ly/3ZoowNK If none of these steps work, it's possible that the hard disk has failed and may need to be replaced.

I have a hard drive that starts slowing the down the computers everytime you try to access it. Any attempt to fix or do anything related to the hardrive it starts slowing down the computers.

If Windows is showing "Access Denied" for your Seagate 2TB external hard drive, despite it being recognized as healthy in Disk Management and passing checks in Command Prompt, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Drive Letter:
Ensure that the external hard drive is assigned a drive letter in Disk Management. If not, right-click on the drive in Disk Management, choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths," and assign a letter.
Permissions and Ownership:
Right-click on the drive in File Explorer.
Thank you so much that work 😍
It won't work for my HP laptop. It says 'Test' is not recognizable. How else can I recover my files from my 1TB Portable Storage?
I can't see security option in first solution that mentioned
Nothing worked
Why is it hard drive long use in tv's doesn't work anymore in laptops? How to fix it?
Guys I could really appreciate some help. My HDD is recognized. It shows up with a drive letter, but not the name I renamed the HDD. I’ve done recovery tool scans on it and it found the files, I was even able to preview many of them! So the files are still *there*, but I can’t access it through My PC. What could be wrong? Is this a partition issue?
very Helpful, Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
recoverit couldn't find the files in my drive.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware And what is it you think they could possibly do to help. Sounds like the hard drive is fried to me.
after running chkdsk it shows after 3rd step that "unable to read the security descriptors data stream"....what to do?
Hi there, using the chkdsk command, I tried to fix my external HDD but it didn't work. Initially, It seemed working by displaying the file system type (NTFS), however, the chkdsk process was ultimately aborted and a message pops out saying "the first NTFS boot sector is corrupt or unreadable". It then seems trying to read the second sector (displayed such a message) but again, it states that it's unable to determine its volume and state. Ultimately, I couldn't access my data. Any help ???
Hey i am having the same issue if you did, would you help me as well?
When ever i even click on mine it just freeze the file explorer
So none of these things allowed me to access the drive, so downloading your software to recover things on the drive would not work because the drive is not accessible
Hi there, thank you for your question! If your drive isn't accessible at all still then it might be a mechanical issue and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
CHKDSK saved me! thank you so much!
Thanks, it helped me :)

Hi there,
If your external hard disk is not showing up in disk management, it's possible that there is an issue with the connection between the hard disk and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the cable and connections.
Check if the hard disk is spinning up.
Check if the hard disk is recognized on another computer.
Check the power supply.
Try data recovery software. Download Recoverit here: bit.ly/3ZoowNK
If none of these steps work, it's possible that the hard disk has failed and may need to be replaced.
Thank youu! I used the Solution 5 and it accessed my Hard drive :)
