i thought the same at first, but then i realized the dirt above is tilled, im not 100% sure but I believe minecraft mechanics allow you to open the chests if the dirt is tilled

This is really convenient and is easy to make. I thought of making nooby dirt house for a fake house then in the back this build will be an outhouse or shed and then this will be your actual house so it’s kinda like an easy secret base except there’s nothing stopping you from getting in unless the player who lives there.
I love how it actually works for solo survival. Just do this house, spam the torches around and you will have full safety in survival. But if you're at multiplayer, it might be your grave mistake.
The definition of "You can't sleep now. There's monsters nearby." Looks great, but I know they're gonna be hitting me through the walls. Very creative though, and it looks good.
5/10 the chests in the basement wont open, wheat will grow so slow (bcs its not enough light). Its better to build house with blocks. 2 hatches = 6 planks. And as for me, I need more stoves, smokehouses etc. for food, ore and other items.
