Thanks for the video. I started making one tonight but hubs said it looked small. I adjusted but when I got 80% finished I realized it was too big for her collar and it would bunch. Lesson learned. Have you used the buttonhole function to add an opening for a leash?
It's really hard to say a specific size will work with a certain breed 😕 I've had to play around with sizes for different dogs I've made them for too. What a great idea to make an opening for a leash! I haven't done that, but have seen many like that. For some reason buttonholes freak me out! That's something I really haven't tried 😅

I'm so glad you liked the video. It really is easy to make and I'm sure your pittie will love it! I just got a new granddog that is a pit ❤ She is only 8 weeks old but she's a doll 💕
I enjoyed your video. What interfacing did you use? I use Pellon SF101 often for things. I’ve never made a food bandana. Is that similar to what you are using? Thank you.
Yes, that is exactly what I use. Although it is totally optional to use in these bandanas, my mom always used interfacing on things such as this so I figured I should. 😀
😂😂 I saw that, but trust me I can read typos 😂😂 I am the world's worst at sending texts to my kids that are full of typos. They all 3 know to simply read thru them 😉
I'm not sure I understand the question about bunching up. The collar should slip through the bandanna so I'm not sure how it's bunching up. I have added a piece of iron on interfacing to the center of the pocket for the collar a bit more stability. I hope this helps, if not let me know! 😀
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I am able to slip the collar through the pocket which is stabilized and the collar part is fine but underneath the collar, the fabric bunches up over the collar and it looks untidy. I,m wondering if maybe the collar part is too wide and covers too much of the collar. Thank you for your help. I really enjoyed your video.
@@maureendonnelly832 how wide if your dogs collar? One the bandannas I've made, I try to make the pocket for the collar just slightly wider than the collar. @@Pops-GiGis-Workshop Good idea, I’ll try interfacing just the pocket area instead of the entire bandana Collar is 16 inches I wish I could send a photo
Glad you liked it. The name of that font is Tinker Toy, but I can't for the life of me remember where I got it. Seems like it was in a font bundle I got on etsy. I use it a lot because it's so cute 😍

In new to this, and this is a great video! But when you refer to interfacing for the middle of the bandanna that helps stabilize the collar area, what exactly is that material? And where do i buy it?
Interfacing is something that will add stability to the fabric. You can get it in different weights depending on how "stiff" you need or want the fabric to be in the completed project. You can get interfacing that you sew in or you can get fusible (which you iron on. I like the fusible simply because it's SO much easier. You can get it at almost any store that sells fabric. I typically get mine ay Joanns simply because I can use a coupon and it's the closest fabric store to me. What I use most of the time is Pellon SF 101. That is exactly what I use on my dog bandannas. It's not hard to use at all and it adds just a bit of "oomph" to the finished product. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further help with this and I'll be glad to help 😊

Would a large size require a bigger opening at the top. Collars are wider for bigger dogs. I’ve already made a couple large and just thought about the opening
If it's a really big dog, then yes it would. Almost all dog collars are about an inch wide except for the really small breed, like tea cup breeds, or really big breeds like Great Danes or Corsos. But generally, most are about an inch wide. To make the opening (pocket) for the collar larger, just fold down the corner more. For smaller openings, you would make the fold smaller. I hope this helps 😊
No, it never has. It's actually a basting spray for quilting, sewing, and embroidery. So it's made to be used with sewing and embroidery machines. I'm sure if you used a lot of spray, it might. But really all you need to use is just enough to cover the surface of what you need to "tack" down. I hope this helps 😊
I am making these to sell in my upcoming bazaar. I’ve never added these to all my crafts. So I’m wondering if you sell any. I wasn’t sure what to sell them for. I’m making all sizes. Etsy seems to be high. Your input would be appreciated and thank you
I've sold them in a booth we have at a local vendor mall. I did the XSmall for 10.00 and went up in 2.00 increments for each other size. I did find that the small and medium were the most popular sizes so I always did more of those sizes. Really a lot of pricing depends on what your local market will allow. Meaning if you're in a more rural area you may want to go down 1.00 per size. But if you're in a more urban area, people may be willing to pay a couple of dollars more for them. Good luck with the bazaar! I hope you sell out!! 😊😊

I usually cut it about an inch to an inch and a half wide. Really all you need is enough to just go over the crease. Actually there is no reason to use the interfacing if you don't want to. I just think it gives it a bit of added firmness. Plus growing up, my mom used to sew ALL the time and I remember her using interfacing on everything! So honestly I think that's why I started putting it over that fold in the bandannas 😉 I hope this helps 😊
This was a small thts is 9.5×9 5 inches...what are the sizes you use for xsmall, medium and large? I want to make them for the foster dogs wr have and for the rescue we volunteer with as the rescue pups come in all sizes at our rescue. Thank you, Melissa
I've only made one extra small bandana and it's on the little guy Chestnut, in the first part of the video. Truly the sizes are so objective. They really can be based on the size of your dog. It seems like I did the XS 6x6.
Absolutely! The interfacing is totally optional. The only reason I add is because my mom always added interfacing to everything and after watching her sew for years and years I felt like I had to 😂. But it is completely optional. 😊
@user-wx6lz1iy9p honestly I don't remember. I would have to look back at the video but 13.5 sounds about right. I know it doesn't go all the way around the neck.
The sizes I use are just base sizes really. It depends on the size and breed of dog but I typically use 7.5 x 7.5 xs, 9.5 x 9.5 small, 11 x 11 medium, 13 x 13 LG, and adjust up for LX depending on size
Honestly it's simply because it was a suggestion my mom gave me when I showed one to her. Her suggestion was to add it and it would give a bit more stability to the entire bandanna. She is the one that influenced me the most in sewing so I thought I should follow her suggestion 😊 Of course this is totally optional and will work fine without it.
If my translation is correct, you asked how much do you fold on the edges. To make the "pocket" for the collar to slip thru, you fold in and stitch down approximately 1 1/2 inches. That will become the pocket for the collar. I hope I got your question right and that this helps. 😃
Dont ever put your dogs name on a tag or bandana, more likely to be stolen if a thief can call the dog by name.just put contact phone number, and vets number! Better safe than sorry!
Yes you're right. It's the same with children. It's not a good idea to put their names on their clothing, backpacks etc. But that being said, many people like having their pets name on a bandana.

What size of fabric for larger dogs
The sizes that I use are 7.5 x 7.5 for XS, 9.5 x 9.5 for S, 11 x 11 for Med., 13 x 13 for Lg. For XL I just kind of have to adjust according to what breed and size of dog it's being made for if I'm doing a custom order. The same thing too for the XS. I did one for a 12 week old beagle puppy and it seems like I did like 6 x 6 for him. Keep in mind, these are just "base" sizes. You can really make them any size you need as long as you start out with a square. The steps are all the same no matter what size you're making. My 2 dogs have gotten to where they feel naked if they don't have theirs on! 🤣
Very cute! Do you make any other dog accessories?
No I haven't tried any other dog accessories. Do you make any? I would love to see them and learn how they're done 🥰
@@Pops-GiGis-Workshop thank you for replying. I haven’t made any yet, but I’d like to try.
Love this video! Also what size of fabric do you use for the other sizes?
The sizes I use are just base sizes really. It depends on the size and breed of dog but I typically use 7.5 x 7.5 XS, 9.5 x 9.5 small, 11 x 11 medium, 13 x 13 LG, and adjust up for XL depending on size. My boxer Ruby is approximately 45ish pounds and I make hers 9.5 x 9.5. I tried a medium size for her but it was really to large for her. So it really does depend on the build of the dog. I hope this helps.
Does that spray gunk up the needle?
What are the starting sizes for medium and large size dogs ?
The sizes that I use are 7.5 x 7.5 for XS, 9.5 x 9.5 for S, 11 x 11 for Med., 13 x 13 for Lg. For XL I just kind of have to adjust according to what breed and size of dog it's being made for if I'm doing a custom order. The same thing too for the XS. How wide do you cut the interfacing for the crease?
I usually cut it about an inch to an inch and a half wide. Really all you need is enough to just go over the crease. Actually there is no reason to use the interfacing if you don't want to. I just think it gives it a bit of added firmness. Plus growing up, my mom used to sew ALL the time and I remember her using interfacing on everything! So honestly I think that's why I started putting it over that fold in the bandannas 😉 I hope this helps 😊
This was a small thts is 9.5×9
5 inches...what are the sizes you use for xsmall, medium and large? I want to make them for the foster dogs wr have and for the rescue we volunteer with as the rescue pups come in all sizes at our rescue.
Thank you,
Melissa
i want to see the extra small bandana
I've only made one extra small bandana and it's on the little guy Chestnut, in the first part of the video. Truly the sizes are so objective. They really can be based on the size of your dog. It seems like I did the XS 6x6.
Can I not add the interfacing
Absolutely! The interfacing is totally optional. The only reason I add is because my mom always added interfacing to everything and after watching her sew for years and years I felt like I had to 😂. But it is completely optional. 😊
Thank you for replying to my question. I have family with different size dogs and I am excited to make a bunch for them. Love your tutorial ❤️
I have one more question. One of the dogs weights 80 ponds. Do I use the 13.5 inch square? I've lost your guide for measuring.
@user-wx6lz1iy9p honestly I don't remember. I would have to look back at the video but 13.5 sounds about right. I know it doesn't go all the way around the neck.
@@Pops-GiGis-Workshop Thank you.
Anyone know what the name of the font used is called please
The name of the font that I used is called Tinker Toy, I'm not exactly sure where I got it but I typically get my fonts from etsy. I hope this helps 😀
What size template would you use for a medium size dog? Thanks Deborah
I use 11 x 11 for a medium size dog. 😊
What size font do you use for these?
It really depends on how long the name is and the size of the bandanna, but I typically use a 1 inch font. Hope this helps 😊
what is measurement fpr medium dog
I usually use 11 x 11 for a medium dog. Hope this helps 😊
What size squares do you cut for Med, Large and XL? I need to make one for a 20lb dog
The sizes I use are just base sizes really. It depends on the size and breed of dog but I typically use 7.5 x 7.5 xs, 9.5 x 9.5 small, 11 x 11 medium, 13 x 13 LG, and adjust up for LX depending on size

Why interfacing?
Honestly it's simply because it was a suggestion my mom gave me when I showed one to her. Her suggestion was to add it and it would give a bit more stability to the entire bandanna. She is the one that influenced me the most in sewing so I thought I should follow her suggestion 😊 Of course this is totally optional and will work fine without it.
Cuánto doblo en las orillas
Never thought of that
