Between 2014 and 2018, over 60% of IIT-Bombay graduates took up jobs in sectors not related to their branches of study, a trend seen across all disciplines except Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electrical Engineering (EE), according to a study by a group of researchers from the Centre for Policy Studies, IIT-Bombay.
However, contrary to popular perception, higher salaries “may not be the dominant factor” affecting the choices, according to the study published in the Current Science journal. Citing “other factors”, the study points to “cultural issues”, causing students to focus more on “extracurricular activities” instead of academics, leading to many being “underprepared for core jobs requiring domain knowledge”. It also cites “pressure of getting placement at the earliest” as one of the reasons.

Good Analysis Sir: I can relate to you after 35 years of career. You nailed the right points to be well debated and guided for the fundamental shift of the education-economical strategies. Especially our leaping from Agricultural sector direct to Services sector with a huge gap in the manufacturing (and its related innovation) would definitely need to be prioritized, especially in the large youth populous countries like India. Salary packages are very low on core side, and hence the non CS engineers are also moving towards IT.
No IITian is ready to work for a salary of 15K-25K/month, and hence the non CS engineers are showing interest towards IT.

Nice sir. Even most IIT coaching educational institutions are not educating their students in this aspect. They want their students to join in IITs irrespective of the branch/program to show their reputation instead of giving a correct direction.
I agree with this one thing. Most of the IIT guys want to work for foreigners. They don't want to work for india , 90% of them atleast. They want to go up in the corporate at any cost.
Gove of india should pass a law saying that for several years , they should serve India before they leave country or work for foreigners. this's the only solution for India's real development.

దేశం లో జాతీయ న్యాయ విశ్వ విద్యాలయాల్లో చదివిన వాళ్ళు ఒక్కరు కూడా అడ్వకేట్ గా ఎన్రోల్ అయ్యి కోర్ట్ కి రావట్లేదు.
క్యాంపస్ లో నే ఏదోక కంపెనీ లో జాబ్ కొట్టేస్తున్నారు.
అదేమంటే 5 సంవత్సరాల లా కోర్స్ ఫీజు 1200000 పై మాటే. హాస్టల్ ఖర్చులు మొదలైనవి మరో 5 లక్షలు. మేము దాదాపు 20 లక్షలు పెట్టి చదివి కోర్ట్ కి వస్తే ఏమోస్తుందని అడుగుతారు?
అలాగే IIT, IIM అన్నీ కూడా విద్యార్థులని కమర్షియల్ చేస్తున్నాయి లక్షలు లక్షలు ఫీజులు వసూలు చేస్తూ.
మన తప్పు (సమాజం లోని వింత మనుసులు ) కూడా వుంది
అబ్బా వీడు అంత మంచి యూనివర్సిటీ లలో చదివి కూడా ఇంత చిన్న జాబ్ చేస్తున్నాడు అని గేలి చేస్తారు. ఆ చిన్న జాబ్ కూడా ఆర్ధిక వ్యవస్థ అభివృద్ధి లో భాగస్వామ్యం అని ఆలోచించరు.

Try to understand concerns of ఐఐటీ and Private colleges. Govt spends lot money for IITs. Many students who pass out inter dont have education background to gofor IIT. Rich and educated only are going for IIT because they are competitive. But not useful to the country.
Today , whatever may be the branch of engg, they are working in software, mostly database type , which any maths educated person can do with some training. Reason is that jobs in core fields, which give reasonable pay are very less . No recruitments in psus. Another reason is

It is increased by the time of covid, all students weren't focused on their core subjects and got a low grade below 8 cg and not showed interest in studying their core subjects. So they moved to non-core which carries less work and more salaries.

In IITs, students study around 40 courses in 4 years - 20 in core 20 in other engineerings, management, economics, sociology, literature, maths, physics, chemistry, biology - for a successful industry you need all - students can adopt and grow in competetive environment - remember no student from any iit has any complaint about iit education - in last 70 years they are sought after - teachers teach and students learn.

Dear sir kindly do one video on multiple accreditation systems being adopted in our higher education system which is making faculty members getting overburdened. A professor in private engineering colleges need to perform teaching, research, accreditation related clerical works and other clerical works related to fee collection etc. One accreditation is enough for an education institution.
Even iitans also doing the same thing as normal engineering graduates. I didn't know how companies offer the highest salaries. Companies shouldn't offer higher salary then graduates will choose diverse fields as their study specialization
