In case you missed it , the reason why general shepherd betrayed task force 141 was because he orchistrated the entire no russian debacle. He was the one who gave the intel to Makarov about agent allen and that module would give that away. The reason: General shepherd was in charge of the troops that were in Al ashads city when the nuke went of and he wanted revenge against Russia. Shephard wanted a war just as much as Makarov and he was more than willing to cause it. This is why I love most of the cod games, because they show that when extremists are in charge on both sides, good people pay the price. A nice unfortunate parallel to most of our current leaders.
@JonesySpaceCat Anything. You want more lore about cod I am your guy. Also, Nikos is my Greek name, but you can call me Nick. That's what it translates to.
@@JonesySpaceCatalso I think Shepherd also want his reputation back from the nuke bavk in the first game. And when he said " Five years ago, I lost 30,000 men ina blink of an eye. And the world just fcking watched." Not just the world, but the American citizens just watched. The loss of his men should've boosted the amount of people enlisting for the military to boost the overall morale, but the American people didn't. So Shepherd brought war to American soil itself by a one time team up by Shepherd and Makarov(Shepherd wants revenge and end the war in his way to become a hero. Makarov wants war for his own plans).
You nailed it, and there were also other signs about this: 1. the Navy casually destroying the gulag with the team still inside (I believe Shepherd wanted to already wipe out both Soap and Price) 2. The mission Shepherd gave Foley's team in the middle of the civilian evacuation and where they found Makarov's guy dead with no explanation 3. Makarov knowing Shepherd base of operations and selling him out to Price to protect himself from Shepherd after the war were over
That Shocked face when you find out Shepherd betrays you😮 we all been there as OG COD players we know the feels Jonesy. It feels great to take him out at the end😎

Loose ends mission is such a legendary and jaw dropper. That people made theory back then about why Ghost and Roach are still alive. Because they couldnt even believe what they saw suddenly
Shepard's betrayal wasn't very well explained in the game due to time constraints. The troops that got nuked in the first game were under Shepard's command and he hated Russia for it since they gave Al-Asaad the warhead. He was plotting his revenge for 5 years but needed everyone on his side to make it happen, it was supposed to revealed that Shepard was responsible for letting the Russians crack the ACS module that Soap and Roach recovered at the beginning of the game, giving Russia vital intel on America's defences and how to bypass them. Shepard leaked intel to Makarov that Allen was a spy and as we saw in the game, Russia believed the CIA carried out the airport massacre, leading them to declare war and invade America. Shepard's ultimate endgame was that with the US in flames and full of loss and anger towards Russia, the whole country would rally behind him (which is was Shepard meant by "no shortage of volunteers, no shortage of patriots" as well as what the Rangers said at the end of Whiskey Hotel, "When are we going to Moscow?") to bring Makarov to justice and get revenge on Russia for the invasion.
I don't think there is a more unfortunate combination of things you could say before Shepard's betrayal. This was the moment I started being suspicious of characters in movies and games.
Great episode, Jonesy. The betrayal was so brutal. " I can't believe he killed his own men." After Shepherd killed Roach and Ghost 😂. I think this game is better than the first. Can't wait for MW3. Cheers

Well shepherd has his reasons for betrayal but it's a evil reason so it's why he had to die for it he was just using them all along and he got Joseph Allen killed in the to Russian mission but when he killed ghost and roach after he got what he wanted from them really showed his true colors and the fact when we heard captain price over their radio saying to not trust shepherd after it was too late made it extra sad he's just has evil as Makarov shepherd's death was very satisfying for all of us 😌
@@JonesySpaceCat It was so sad, but at least Shephard got what he deserved well done soap for avenging his fallen comrades. RIP GHOST he will be sorely missed.
Many people here hate Shepherd but from his point of view he had his reasons for provoking this war since back then when his 30,000 died in that nuclear bomb event, no one supported Shepherd about the losses and then he develop a negative view of the world and five years later he felt that no justice was sought for the men that he lost and the U.S. military's power waned over the years, so then he decided to increase the power and standing of the military by starting a war and using Allen and his team as a pawn to successfully complete his plans Also: Once they found Shepherd's body, they declared him war hero and the Task Force was disavowed because Price and Soap were considered war criminals, see you in MW3 Jonesy :)
Hey jonesy! How you doing? Glad you finished this game! That’s what sucks of play station no backwards compatibility, i got a pc and a series X and i still play mw3 sometimes (the og not the piece of trash that released last year) “Shepherd is here to save me”😂 busted my lungs laughing at that! Shepherd tried to tied up loose ends way back in brazil, remember ghosts saying “bs the skies are clear send the chopper now!” Because shepherd wanted y’all to die even at the hands of the favela, and yeah jonesy shepherd tried to kill you at the gulag too. Get wasn’t working with makarov though their goals were just aligned I also laughed so hard back in whiskey hotel because again you had no idea those fighters were not to help you but flattened you and the entire city. Seems cpl dunn survived the jonesy friendly fire med bay
That ending never gets old, from saving the White House to the betrayal and then the suicide mission in the middle of war torn Afghanistan... and yes, Shadow Company was a mercenary group according to the audio files, something like Merryweather from GTA V but much serious 😁 The next game will conclude the trilogy with the hunt for Makarov and the ongoing war between the US and Russia!
Either way, it was a great ride in MW2 remastered. See you in MW3 2011. And an update on my gta: San Andreas playthrough, I’m now at 57.75% of total completion. Nearly 6/10 of the way there! 😊❤️
COD MW3 for the 360, is backwards compatible on the Xbox One, Xbox One S and X, and the Series X and S. I’m not sure about PlayStation. I’m not sure if you can even buy it on PlayStation.
You’re lucky u didn’t get spoiled for the betrayal, sadly I for some reason thought I would never get around to playing the MW trilogy until I eventually did and way before I got to play it I was recommended a clip of the betrayal and curiously clicked it now I regret doing it because I wasn’t as shocked 🤦. Still heartbreaking to watch tho, bastard killed one of my favourite characters who is ofc Ghost
If you look for some fun activity check out the museum. A certain "Don't push this button" will make every character you ever knew in this game, good or bad, to shoot you on sight.
Great work Jonesy. But the fight isn’t finished. And hope we see mw3 soon. And yeah no remastered like you mentioned. I wish there was one. But I think Infinity Ward was busy making the remake MW2 and MW3. And they did not have time to remastered MW3 2011. 😔
pretty much what niko said. shepherd is an absolute scumbag that was willing to do ANYTHING to get his revenge on Makarov re: MW1 missions Shock and awe/aftermath, as he was in charge of the 30k troops that died with the nuke going off. he sent pvt allen/alexei borodin to Makarov essentially as a lamb to the slaughter to orchestrate the start of WW3, as the body of an American would be found at the airport attack (hence the "remember, no Russian" line), to make the façade of an American attack more plausible. the ONLY thing tying gen Shep to the attacks was what was at the safehouse/on the DSM. "aww hes come to save meh" er, no. Shepherd is there to tie loose ends. as the DSM has everything that ties him to Makarov (re airport mission/No Russian) and the fact ghost/roach have been in the safe house, he doesn't know how much they know about his involvement with Makarov and the whole "starting WW3" thing. He also doesnt trust that they will stay quiet. The only way to guarantee silence, is make them dead. oh, but as a brucey bonus, in MW2 remastered, if you shoot shepherd during the pit course (at the start of the game) you get a trophy for it 😏
Well some good news and some not so good news. First the good. I think you set a new world record for body count 🎉🎉 Now the not so good. All the bodies were your's 😮😮❤
Next is up MW3. *Too bad they haven't remastered MW3 intill we get that Horrible MW3 Reboot of how disaster it went but atleast the OG MW3 is a lot better*

Either way, it was a great ride in MW2 remastered. See you in MW3 2011. And an update on my gta: San Andreas playthrough, I’m now at 57.75% of total completion. Nearly 6/10 of the way there! 😊❤️
l think you done well playing this call of duty game because this 0ne was a bit hard to play but you done it and well done .. playing it
Ah thank you Nigel 😄
you are so welcome from nigel@@JonesySpaceCat
😢He has a bad streak sometimes JONESY.
Hi I didnt start to watch yet but I laughed so much your video title
heartbroken 😭
@@JonesySpaceCat That's true unfortunately.. R.I.P Roach and Ghost.. :'(
COD MW3 for the 360, is backwards compatible on the Xbox One, Xbox One S and X, and the Series X and S. I’m not sure about PlayStation. I’m not sure if you can even buy it on PlayStation.
I already started the playthrough for you guys 😄
You’re lucky u didn’t get spoiled for the betrayal, sadly I for some reason thought I would never get around to playing the MW trilogy until I eventually did and way before I got to play it I was recommended a clip of the betrayal and curiously clicked it now I regret doing it because I wasn’t as shocked 🤦. Still heartbreaking to watch tho, bastard killed one of my favourite characters who is ofc Ghost
Oh wow awesome not only are you the perfect silent assassin you're becoming the perfect killing machine 😎♥️
haha took me long enough
Was fucked up how Roach and Ghost died
I'm still not over it!
@@JonesySpaceCat Me either was so fucked on so many levels glad Soap and Price got to kill Shepard
If you look for some fun activity check out the museum. A certain "Don't push this button" will make every character you ever knew in this game, good or bad, to shoot you on sight.
Awesome thank you!
you should try Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 and 2022 they are one of best remakes!!
I wouldn't know about a remake...feels like a reboot. Just as long as she stays far away from MW3 (2023); that ain't worth her time.
Excited for your WaW play through
hopefully I can get a copy 🤞
😮 They just cut our heads off
Shephard was not working with makarov
I got it now😄🙌
Great work Jonesy. But the fight isn’t finished. And hope we see mw3 soon. And yeah no remastered like you mentioned. I wish there was one. But I think Infinity Ward was busy making the remake MW2 and MW3. And they did not have time to remastered MW3 2011. 😔
I already started the playthrough of MW3 for you guys 😄
You need to play the original modern warfare 3 to understand who told Makarov about the secret agent of the CIA
I've already started MW3 for you guys... will be coming soon! 🙌
26:25 The joy didn't lasted for what was about to happen.
Heartbroken 😭
pretty much what niko said. shepherd is an absolute scumbag that was willing to do ANYTHING to get his revenge on Makarov re: MW1 missions Shock and awe/aftermath, as he was in charge of the 30k troops that died with the nuke going off. he sent pvt allen/alexei borodin to Makarov essentially as a lamb to the slaughter to orchestrate the start of WW3, as the body of an American would be found at the airport attack (hence the "remember, no Russian" line), to make the façade of an American attack more plausible.
the ONLY thing tying gen Shep to the attacks was what was at the safehouse/on the DSM. The only way to guarantee silence, is make them dead.
oh, but as a brucey bonus, in MW2 remastered, if you shoot shepherd during the pit course (at the start of the game) you get a trophy for it 😏
Ah man, gutted I missed that trophy.... but then I would never have shot him in the beginning 💔
Hey jonesy is back❤
You should checkout Museum in the end. Its so cool.
😢We started well, they already killed us.
😅That's what the shield is for
