Join us in The Greene Space for an evening with the stars of the Metropolitan Opera! Hear favorite selections from the company’s spring productions sung by current Met stars, including Susan Graham (The Merry Widow), Albina Shagimuratova (Lucia di Lammermoor), Oksana Dyka (Aida), Piotr Beczala (Un Ballo in Maschera), Dmitri Belosselskiy (Ernani), and George Gagnidze (Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci), plus special cameo appearances by other Met artists. Craig Rutenberg, the Met’s Director of Music Administration and a well-known recital pianist, will accompany the singers in music by Donizetti, Verdi, Mascagni and Leoncavallo. The evening also includes a sneak peek at the new staging of Cav/Pag by director Sir David McVicar. WQXR’s Naomi Lewin hosts.

In the Metropolitan, in this role, this woman's voice cut the orchestra like a laser. Her mastery of vocal technique is impressive!
It was the same when she sang Kostanze in " Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail" earlier this year. She got a true sprinto voice with incredible agility. She is one of the best dramatic coloraturas out there right now.

Здесь Альбина молодая и по-видимому на вершине своего вокала. Нельзя не заметить, что позже, после рождения ребенка ее голос немного изменился и дивная колоратура стала звучать не так ярко. Но все равно она замечательная!...
She’s a lyric coloratura. With a lot of lyric soprano approach which is always a worry for a coloratura as it can flood the voice and the clean scream is spread. Here of course it is lovely between a lyric soprano with the acuti notes. This seems a trend these days.

She made this aria - one of my favourites - fresh for me. True Bel Canto. But did the accompanist mess up at the end?

Uh oh. Just listened to a 2012 performance before this. In three years she lost her trill and much of the bloom in her voice. Not good.
She should learn not to listen to her own voice. And learn belcanto! A must for Donizetti (and for any piece of singing). Singing at the MET? Shame.
