That magic question of if you do restore it please bring it by the shop. Hope to see some vehicles from previous videos come back to the shop or at least a quick video to show what they look like after being restored.
Hell yes haha! @@WDDetailing
On my 16th birthday I went to the DMV to take my driving test to get my license.
I drove my Dad's 1970 Ford Econoline 300.
A 1 ton van with no power steering or power brakes.
The instructor took me to what looked to be the smallest street in our city and told me to execute a K turn.
I was able to do it and we headed back DMV and I got my license !
The following summer on our family vacation I drove that van from Los Angeles to Yellowstone across to Ohio then down to Texas and back home in 30 days. With all the side trips we put over 8,000 miles and I drove it 29 of the 30 days while my younger brother read the map so we wouldn't get lost. We kept that van for 34 years and then one of our neighbors bought it.
Huge balls 😅

thank you for sharing this! lovely story
Yall should have repainted the van as the mystery machine
Now this, ladies and gentlemen, is what its all about! Hope a lot more vans will be shown in the future. Give Mike a payraise for being a gentle van guy! That shows a real man! Also, what a neat cute van! and the color! love it!
This is the type of vehicle we would like to see go through the full restoration process. You hit it with the initial cleaning, then off to get the engine fixed and then interior repair, finally back to you for the final prep for showroom level showing!
Completely gut it and start over nice to see these old vans come back to life 😊
I've camped in VW Buses, tow-behind trailers, a covered wagon, and out underneath the stars. This van deserves a second chance. It turned out much better than I thought. I've cleaned up a lot of vintage tow-behind campers, VW campers and old cars. Always very satisfying. Keep up the good work. I just might have a vehicle for you to tackle. We'll see.
Kudos to WD for taking on this challenge - it’s amazing how this van cleaned up
My Dad and Mom bought a brand new Ford Econoline 500, white with red interior in the late 60's. Dad did his own camper van modifications, when I graduated from college, I flew to Florida to meet up with the parents, and we drove the Ford up through the Blue Ridge Mountains to Vermont enjoying the camping mode!
Do you still have it
My grandfather had one of these! Same color but with a white roof, if I remember correctly. I remember driving from Long Island to Florida with him and Grandma when I was about 3 or 4. Later on my father used it as an HVAC service vehicle. Today, as an electrical contractor, I have a ‘99 Econoline Club Wagon 15 passenger van with the seats removed. Great vehicles.
I can’t wait for the video every week. I’m from the Netherlands and we were on vacation with a campervan in ‘22. We love the freedom and easy travel.
Looks like a real actual mystery machine van 😂
Finally someone said it
Hocking Hills is great to camp at. My best memories from tent camping when I was a troop leader, was cooking and eating food cooked over an open fire. Then later, just sitting around the fire with friends, enjoying “beverages”, to the wee hours.
We used to camp hocking hills, salt fork, and on American electric powers property where big muskie had been. The loudonville/
Mohican area is also very nice.
When I first saw it in the woods I said "Mystery Machine"
My favorite and I didn’t think that was possible because so many before this have blown me away. I was 15 in 1970 and remember riding in the vans with friends and neighbors. Good times! Thank you, thank you!
Definitely hands down one of my favorite details, can't imagine what the floor pan would've looked like if the carpet and wood wasn't existent, definitely a sign to restore it and get it back on the road ❤🎉
My family started out in tents with a Chevy van similar to this. We kept upgrading as my parents could first to a tent trailer, then a full size travel trailer, and then a nice big boat. All with that van that My dad had to rebuild the engine on twice in its lifetime. My favorite part is the evolution of what we could do. It was so much fun in summer when I was a kid. Each of us kids got a full row of seats to our own, and the family traveled the entire west coast of North America.
Wow the memories that van-camper brings back for us guys who grew up in the late 60's through the late 70's. There were so many van customizing shops around like Startruck in Transfer Pa. You could have anything from a cruiser to a camper.
I love camping. We used to tent camp when our daughter was young. Had many adventures. Our first time out was going to McCormick Creek in Bloomington Indiana. First our condenser/capacitor went out on the way and we pushed into the rural town to find everything closed. Luckily we were parked by a John Deere dealer and we took the part out of a small tractor and installed it in the car. We left money under the hood for the part. We had a TR4 at the time. Then decided to go down a service road and tore our the exhaust and put a hole in the floor. It was a rather hot ride to get home to Chicago. It was fun working on our old cars. Did a lot of repairs in the ally behind our apartment. Great memories of days long gone.
We owned a Ford Econoline when I was growing up. We took it camping several times. Lots of memories with this episode. Great work!
I’ve had two vans in my 70 years first one was a 69 VW westfailia pop up, in Montana where I’m originally from . I took it camping fishing, it was a great experience.. my second van was a 1991 ford econo van just what you have there. Plenty of room in that van . Great times in this van . I did it all in this van .
For me this was the best clean yet and the most satisfying to watch, Great Job!!!
When I was a kid back in the 70's, my grandpa had a 1969 Econoline similar to this one. It was our fishing/hunting van. He bought it in 1973 I believe. The year I was born. He had it until 2010 when he was diagnosed with leukemia. There are so many memories I have of this van.
My dad was a cabinet maker by trade. As a child in the 70's my dad always had vans and he would customize the back for camping. We spent so much time in the summer traveling New England with family and friends. It was an amazing experience.
My dad and mother were avid campers. Ever since I was a small kid they belonged to a camper's association we used to meet with all the other campers up and down the East Coast. It started off with my dad pulling a 19 ft Holiday rambler trailer then he upgraded to a 24-foot GMC motorhome where he took 7 weeks off of work and took us all across the country from New York to California and back. Probably one of my best memories of being a kid.
I love the music you have been picking. It's like it goes with the vehicle. Also, I'm from Montana, and we are people who love camping. I hope Brent gets to go. You don't need a lot to start and you can car camp. You and your friends. Wood for a fire, cooler with food and beverage. Old but warm clothes for night and sleep in your car.
You guys rock for doing this one! It would be awesome to see this van get fully restored!
While we didn't camp in it we had a 1979 Ford Econoline van as a kid. Pretty good size V8, bright yellow with a table in back. The transmission blew on the 15 right outside of Baker,CA. Got towed back to Baker and a kind mechanic let our family stay in a trailer overnight. Nothing like being stranded on the 15 pre-cell phone days. Fun times. Loved that van though!
Lets go Camping boys 🏕
Lets go!!
Kudos to you guys. I have to admire your dedication to your channel to even attempt to clean that van.😮
Great job I have a 71 Chevy C10 that looks like that did been sitting in my yard for 13 years and sit in my inlawly house for at less 12 years before I got it home. Love these videos you do. Keep them coming
Now This is a cool episode!!!
When I was like around 7 or so I had my first camping trip with my family. We went to Spain and set up a family-sized tent. My favorite memory of that was when we'd go swimming in lakes and beaches, and when we'd come back from swimming and play cards with all of us. It was always super fun and so it became a family tradition that we still do after all these years. Same camping spot, same people, same beaches and lakes😌 it's really peaceful and it makes me feel more in tune with nature every summer we go there!
Man, what a job. Although this van should have gone to a junkyard 20 or 30 years ago, hopefully the owner can breathe some new life into it. The definition of a labor of love.
Fr hopefully he can bring it back
A big shout-out to whoever sent the pictures of this van. My uncle David had one and it was an 11 passenger. These often had a slide-out step under the main passenger entrance door. This van means so much to me.
Wow guys it's not a transformation, it's a miracle 😂 really a good job
The Ford camper van looks great! Well done.
Love a cool van. My dad had a blue mid 1990’s Chevy conversion van when I was a kid. Sitting in the back and watching the small 12 inch TV that the manufacturer installed was one of the highlights! Great Video! 👍🏾
The Mystery Machine was the first thing that op-ed into my head when I first saw the van! I grew up with a family cabin, so I didn’t go camping until I was an adult. The last time I went camping I had emergency surgery and decided to go anyway. I was glad I did because I was still able to enjoy my time with the people I was with. I couldn’t swim, but I took a floaty and was able to enjoy the water that way…I just had fun hanging out around the cam fire, making smores, and singing worship songs.
Yes
LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!! that is immediately what I thought of when watching this video. Did the skit this last summer and just like this vans owner, I made some pretty good memories
I have spent many weeks in the outdoors camping. The best thing is being in the outdoors with all of the fresh air and rain and sunshine 🌞
these guys always find the perfect music for the details
15:51 NOW THAT WAS NEAT to see on a vehicle that old. I would not have EVER thought that option was available back then. Excellent!
I would LOVE to see this old beauty brought back to it's former glory again and made road worthy again!! :)
Let's Goooo Good Saturday morning to alllll!!!!

😂
Sitting since 1994. 1994 was a great year.
I'm from Mansfield Ohio. Hocking hills is an amazing place to go camping!!!

Scoob Doo ❤ Salsicha e a máquina de mistério
Buenas tardes , un trabajo espectacular, estaba fatal , la habéis mejorado, por completo, buena limpieza, de la ,Ford camper van.❤👏👏👌👍🇪🇦
Give it a go doing it up it will be so much fun camping in it.
We did a lot of camping when I was growing up. I suppose one of the best times was when I travelled from the Yorke Peninsula in the south of Australia to Alice Springs in the centre of Australia. It was run by the Scouts and local kids over 14 travelled in a old bus done up. There was some other vehicles with us that carried supplies equipment needed. Generator, water etc. Around 30+ of us. The roads were not sealed back then so it was rough going. So much fun. Quite a few incidents that we sailed through. Certainly character building. We had unseasonable rain to slow us down. The best were the mornings watching the sun come up each day on that red barren land. The smell of eucalyptus trees and the fire burning for a cup of tea and basic food. Uluru (Ayres Rock) was amazing. Lots of very different people to learn from.
I did an accidental camping trip from a van once in Chillicothe Missouri. Pulled up to the Sonic at 9:30 pm, went to leave and fuel pump went out. Spent the night at Sonic with about 8 others. Was not comfortable.
I've seen many of your videos, this is one of my favs.
Man.. - i do like this 'Tractor' blue color Ford used. Nice job.. 😊 👍 ✌
I’d love to see this awesome van after the owner restores it!
I’m from UK, in 1976 we had a VW campmobil traveled from Idaho to BC Canada, down to Disney through vegas, Reno, Mojave desert I was newly from London a one year old my spouse & younger sister who was visiting what an experience from no experience, now I’m 70 & just bought an ALiner pull along hated camping then love it now
Definitely have camped in a van many times. Back in the late 70's, early 80's we belonged to a van club & went many weekend van shows. Several years ago we bought a 67 van & then a 90 van. They are both Ford Econolines & sitting in our garage getting fixed up slowly.
The best camping trip I ever had was at the mid Ohio sports car course on a race weekend. The best alarm clock in the world is the sound of revving engines.
My family had a 69 Ford van. We towed 28' camper or Glastron bass boat. The van had table that lowered, into a bed. We slept in boat launch parking lots, to hit water before dawn. The spare tire laid flat, behind passenger seat with a large bean bag covering the tire. Lots of memories!
Life is about challenges, but then there’s challenges you might wanna consider passing on, LOL 😂 This would be one of those! 😳🥴
You have said you wanted dirty vehicles to clean, and you got it! I have never been camping in my life either, so you're not alone.
I’ve always been waiting for a video with a van on this channel. Well done, guys!
My folks bought a van like that back in the 1970’s. I have lots of great memories in that thing.😉 we’d go to the drive in theater and dad would park backwards and open the double doors and we’d eat fried chicken and whatever else mom made. We took it hunting and a family vacation to Disney land. The 302 was a great little motor!👍
This was the dirtiest ever seen on WD ...you guys are the best...keep on bring in to life old vehicles ...thanks
Wow! You guys did an amazing job!

Love the guitar music! And the show!
😍oh,that blue😊
My parents idea of a great family vacation was camping, so every summer we’d go to the Adirondack’s for two weeks. Always on a lake and in those days good weather was a given. The last camping trip I went on with my mother and younger brother after my dad passed away, it rained every day for a week. Not fun! The weather turned nice for the second week, so it wasn’t bad. I haven’t camped since, I prefer indoor plumbing and room service LOL.
I know a guy my landlord has 100 plus cars trucks yall would love to meet him one day lives on 10121 McAlister road in Berlin, Maryland. Look on maps the woods are feeled there parts galore old stuff no pics but enough info to be in touch he's friendly also love the clean up on the vids
It was hilarious watching your facial expression whilst you pressure washed the van exterior....funning as long as I wasnt the one doing it I am sure!
Loved camping with my family. The muddy Mississippi is always fun camping.
Do the KOA system so you’ll have access to restrooms and showers without the hotel price.
My fav vid so far well done guys Dan from Uk 🎉
this is the largest vehicle you guys clean great work keep it up
In a 1973 Ford Econoline 200 just like this without the side windows and a slide door on it. It was a a van my grandfather bought it new the last year his construction company was in business. He gifted it to my dad. My dad converted it to a cruiser and made a bench/bed. The center of the bed became a table and the cushions became the seat backs. It was carpeted in the floor and halfway up the walls and on the ceiling. Paneling went up from the floor to midway with a chair rail molding. It dined beer mirrors on the walls, and the back windows had curtains with rods holding both the top and bottoms of the two back windows with Louvers on the outside of the windows on the doors. There was a curtain that slid across the front of the van just behind the front seats. We also had a converter to allow us to use a small collage dorm sized half fridge and a 14" black and white TV.
Mind you this was in 1975.
He had a company design sticker rolls/decals in three shades of blue that stretched from the hood to the rear doors. The van was Ford sky blue. He also painted a set of crater classics that were dark blue around the center cone fading to a lighter blue int a white as it blended to the lip of the tires.
There was also a spare tire rack on the back door that had a cover. He painted a shadow stylepi ture of Doc Holiday on it.
When you opened the back doors, he made a access panel with a slit in it to lift up and reveal a foam cooler in the back which was under the bench cushion.
It had a windshield visor, a moon roof, a crank vent in the rear roof and to smoked bubble winds on the back sides.
Even though we didn't camp in it, we went with my parents to the drive-in theater to see movies and always fell asleep on the way home, and would sleep through till we woke up in our driveway the next morning in the summertime.❤
Tetanus shot, a lot money and this van could be a rockin again.
Great job, guys!! That was a mess. I think I actually saw the van give a sigh of relief when the foam hit it. Pretty sure it never thought it would feel soap and scrub mitts ever again. Half expected it to lean into the scrubbing and for one of the tires to start thumping, like an old dog getting a scratch for the first time in years. And that wasn't a mouse nest. That was a mouse city. And one that had its very own Godzilla from the look of it.😂
Well...the sink looks great!! LOL You guys did a great job with what you had to work with!
You guys are awesome!! Love watching your vids!! Keep up the amazing work.
