Im not fully sure abt that though, ill update u when ive looked.
UPDATE: ive found something. in their 2017 manifesto, asking about coallitions, the Lib Dems said this, "That’s why the Liberal Democrats will not enter into coalition with either Theresa May’s Conservatives or Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour." This is because of Brexit and possibly Jeremy's anti-semitism acts. But, just earlier from that, they were in it, because Brexit wasn't a thing before 2016. And, they quote Labour to be "hand-holding Theresa May's government down a hard deal", being a further reminder that Labour is implicit in Brexit, you can tell that the Lib Dems have anti-Brexit rhetoric here. The Point is, they changed radically according to controversial opinions based on Liberalist rhetoric and Liberalist values

@@humorpalanta Hubris. He was only elected to parliament in 2015, he was chancellor in 2020 by random chance due to an obscure and now mostly forgotten dispute between Sajid Javid and Dominic Cummings. A race to the bottom would be more accurate !
Well done Cruxxy, you just described British political campaigning in two sentences!
They don't need plans. This is a contest in figuring out what the voters want to hear. Like any election
To paraphrase a former Apple Computers CEO: "The UK is like a ship with a hole in the bottom, taking in water and sinking. My job as PM is to point the ship in the Right direction"
Sounds like American Conservatives. If you have to ask if it can get worse, don't worry, it always can.
Let's be real here - Sunak would not be good for the UK. Having said that Truss would be much, much worse. While Sunak is someone that has no way to understand what life is like for normal people and has little respect for anyone out of his own social circle, Truss would essentially be little more than a mouth piece of the most hard-line right-wing factions of the Conservative party. If I thought that there might be an election shortly after the leadership battle had been settled then the idea of Truss getting in would not be as concerning, but it is clear that the forces that run the Conservative party have no apetite for calling an early election while they are down in the poles.
Moving to apeal to the same voters as Truss was (in my opinion) a huge mistake for Sunak. His strength in campaigning was always going to be in looking like the candidate that was responsible and financially realistic. There is no way for him to win enough support from the hard-right side against Truss since she is one of their own and the more moderate people in the party will now be seeing him as someone that they can not trust.
if the tories are in power i just hope they dont treat the vulnerable or poor too badly, or become corrupt, accepting bribes for favours. If labour get into power i just hope they dont balloon the state, mismanage the economy or put taxes too high.
sunak is worse he wants to fuck with trans rights
The polls are in, the numbers are counted, tory membership does not want "responsible" or "financially realistic." They want someone to tell them what they want to hear in a believable enough way that they don't realize they're deluding themselves.
The fact that he's switched up to attack minority groups shows a lack of good judgement and strength of character. It shows that he's just like Bojo and at the end of the day he will compromise good values to save his own skin. He will put his own desires ahead of the country's. Not that he had any decent values in the first place.
I just wish we could force a general election tbh

Some people fall for that though. Too many simply want someone to blame and hate, which right-wing extremists are only to happy to supply.

Can we stop referring to politicians by their first names? Especially when it plays into their own self-branding, e.g. Boris, Rishi, “the Donald”. They want us to think that they’re our friends. But even if you like them, they’re not.

Who the f* wants to erase mothers? And if so how? 😵💫
No one, this is another Tory scapegoat since they were called out on their islamaphobia
His point is trying to protect women in general from so called trans people and the woke brigade. Can’t just wake up one day and say you want an easy competition and enter women’s games because you identify as a woman. That’s just an example and probably a very bad one.
iirc some laws refer to "people who give birth" instead of mothers to be inclusive to trans men, something really minor which effects an incredibly small amount of the population and does literally no harm, but conservatives love blowing it out of proportion. Its not "erasing" mothers, its making laws which apply to the whole population more accurate and precise.
They are objecting to terminology as it would be respectfully applied in the case of trans men, to thus indicate they would wish to compel health professionals to abuse trans men.

I don't understand how people seem to think Labour is obsessed with identity politics, but give the Tories a free pass to spend half their debates moaning about self-identification and trans women in sports.

How long will Liz Truss be able to hold on to the top spot? Certainly not as long as Boris. Richi Sunak will be able to lead with all the more certainty.

Even in a General Election he doesn't have to appeal to them. They're never going to vote Conservative in a million years so why bother pandering to them?
Which is a short sighted strategy. You need to appeal to a broad range of people to win elections (that aren't rigged, of course). So if the Tories want to burn all the bridges to get a new leader (that they'd get one way or the other anyway) for at most two years...
