- The piano solo from The Beatles' "In My Life. For my video for the full song, click here: • "In My Life" by The Be...
This solo was played by Beatles producer, George Martin, who also composed the part for the song. Apparently, it was recorded with the song slowed down by 50%, making this fast part easier to play. Here, it's pretty close to being half tempo (a little bit slower, actually). Sheet music can be found here: drive.google.com/file/d/0BwVD...
I transcribed this myself, so send any corrections to the comments below. Thanks!
George Martin is officially the 5th member of The Beatles
Their producer, arranger, orchestrator, studio session musician on piano, and musical instructor (particularly for Paul). His contribution to the Beatles success is immeasurable.
Always has been
No, there is no meme, that's the truth
ABSOLUTELY
Kirain Beatles ke lima itu Billy Preston
Sounds like somethin Bach would do.
yeeeeees
That's what I thought the first time I listened to the solo
At that time, Lennon had not decided what instrument to use in the break, but he subsequently asked George Martin to play a piano solo, suggesting "something Baroque-sounding"
I believe it is actually a classical piece but played backwards
0:19 At a short bit of Mozart in the left hand
I can play it too. But only the right hand part.
thanks for the sheet music! my dad always wanted me to play this 👍
put the speed at 2 sounds like the record
Thank you for the lesson. Now I’m convinced that George Martin made the motif out of BWV208 “schafe können sicher weiden”. Same key and same outro.
Wow, even at 2x speed it is still slower than the original.
TheSniperMAJOR no it's about the same as the original
The original was actually played at about that slow pace. Sped up 2x in recording
???
Sounds like what a ghost would play idk how to describe it but its really creepy
TheSniperMAJOR It was originally recorded slow on a higher octave. Then it was sped up. It was played much slower actually. Wasn’t played fast.
love this little piece
Thank you so much for the sheet music! ❤️
Brilliant, simply brilliant. 🎹❤️
Beautiful
This melody captures "life essence" I imagine beginning being a child and being happy, second stage struggling as a adult... 3rd stage glimpse of all we accomplished while in this world ... and final keys .... death .
You should do the whole song slowed down. I think it would be really beautiful
if you put it at 2 times speed it sounds like it normally does because when George Martin wrote it, he could't play it at the speed he needed too so he played it at half speed and sped it up.
excellent video for educational purposes, thank you
thanks for this
Thanks for watching!
Un gran aporte muchas gracias, Genial !!!!!!!
still in my mind after 40 years!^^
Thank you so much!!! Muito obrigado!!!

This is a nice music for sleeping
DeAlpha 369 yes, When i play this Song slowly, that makes me sleepy

@@IgnacioClerici-mp5cy Okay
@@IgnacioClerici-mp5cy you really seems to be joking
Thank you 감사합니다~^^
감사 감사~
At 0:19, rather than holding the E, it should be E-D-E (a trill).
A trill always goes upwards so this would not be a trill. If a trill were being performed, it would be F#-E-F#- E (held), and it does not sound right this way.
@@somethingoldish7696 Who told you that? E-D-E is a trill. Cheers.
Thanks~
Thank you....
Thanks for watching!
Now speed this up 2x
Guess I'm not the only one who immediately played this back at 2x! 😄
put the speed in x2, enjoy
This is interesting because George martin actually did played this 2 times slowly and they made it 2 times faster in the song
I've been playing piano for like thirty years off and on. I need to make it more "on" if I'm to get this down...
Although the pitch would be 6 semitones lower.
Speed x2 and u got it
If you put it on 2x it sounds like when you get struck by lightning in Mario Kart
Why I can't open the g-drive?
Fun fact, George Martin couldn't play the piano solo at the desired speed, so he had to play at half speed and a lower pitch, so when he edited the song he sped up the take and doubled the speed and voila. . He just went at the expected speed and tune of the song.
He probably could, but was pressured to record it on the least amount of time possible, let's do another song.
Just an fyi for everyone, the song was recorded at about this speed, then sped up 2x because George Harrison couldn't play it at the speed you hear in the actual song, so don't be discouraged if you can't play it at the speed the song is played at!
That is also why the pitch sounds different from a regular piano.
It's not Harrison, it's George Martin
george harrison good catch thanks
@@howard5970 but funnily enough George Harrison also did the same thing with his solo in A Hard Day's Night
X2
You said it was slowed down! 😭😭
its slower than the actual song
only gods can play this
I learned it almost at full speed in like an hour and a half. Been playing 20 years tho
If you put the video in x2 speed, you listen to the real solo
Any one watching in 2021? :)
Let’s be honest, it sounds better than a lot of Bach pieces.
