Reason #1 is Melvin has 2,500 receiving yards. Reason #2 is Melvin is experienced and good at picking up blitzes. His fumbling is a non issue. He's NOT our bell cow. While still be a emergency short term fill in if needed in that area due to injury. But JK and Gus and even Justice carrying. Melvin catching. That simple. Todd Moken uses RBs as receivers. Not just check downs mode. But actual 1st reads. Til JK and Gus becomes and shows they can handle that kind of volume. Melvin is here for particular role.
Saying "his fumbling is a non issue" is completely untrue. One of Harbaughs biggest issues with offensive skill players is ball security. We've seen a number of players end up in the Harbaugh "dog house" for fumbling issues.
@@410SportsTalk it would be an issue if he was dependent apon in run game. His carries will be so minimal in our Offense. He would be fourth in depth charts for actual carries. I'm talking it's a non issue since he not expected to carry the rock much. If he does fumble the few time he does carry. Then it's a actual issue. My point is going in it's not a issue because he's not carrying. Not his role. I'm sure the thought is to put him where he e excel in. BLOCKING and CATCHING.
@@410SportsTalk Fumbling is a non issue if he's not toting the rock. I know where you coming from with Harbaugh. You talking about Ty'Son experience for example. Ty'Son was at one point #1 carrier then #2 carrier of ball. Since he had no experience in blocking or catching then his only contributions was to run. If he fumble then there is no other use for him. Melvin now in his career is more of a screen WR. How many carries do you think #4 RB in carries get? He may be on field a lot snap wise. But not carrying wise. Also for years you been saying Ty'Son was put in dog house. No he wasn't He simply was not ready. Harbaugh realized that. It was too much for him at that time. He was not NFL material. He could run. But nothing else. Harbaugh spared him and the team. Ravens are getting a cheap WR who has the ability to run the ball. That's what Melvin is now. Or will be on Ravens. You caught up in title of RB. Open your mind and eyes. This is Todd Monken not unqualified Greg Roman offense.
@@aaronbutler9373 You're saying all of this like it's a fact, when it's all just hypothetical. In reality, you have no clue what they're going to do, lol..
The reason he was signed is JK is starting training camp on PUP list because he probably will continue his hold in, i wouldn't be surprised if JK ends up getting released with Keaton Mitchell getting more 1st team reps like he did during OTAs & mini camp. But with Gordon a fumbling machine I would of rather seen J.Robinson signed
Pat can play offense and defense, he is someone to keep for emergencies on top of his main offensive position, hes a win win for his money and awesome teammate
I hope this is just an insurance signing until we know if JK will play for us. I think if JK and gus are fully good to go by week one, Gordon will be cut. I see no outcome where we hold all four backs AND find a way to keep ricard on this roster. This signing feels similar to us signing Treadwell, where the position is loaded but they are just adding some depth for camp since the top guys might not be ready at the start of camp(JK and bateman).
I think we got Gordon cause the front office knos that are main ( 1 or both ) RBs are gonna start on the pup list cause there not healing right or something else related .. smh i just want us to start the season as a healthy flock flocking together 💜🖤

Don’t be surprised if the Ravens cut, FB Patrick Ricard became in Todd Monken system he doesn’t use FBs, he uses TEs😮
This is a camp body, and practice squad deal

If Patrick Ricard position is safe. We are in bad shape. Plus, you can’t block on the bench or in rehab that’s really not good to the ravens
Gordon should be a upgrade over Drake
Y’all must be nuts if you think Pittsburgh, wont scoop up JK Dobbins
This does not feel like a raven signing. I hope he is just there for training camp preseason and to threaten JK into playing out his rookie contract
JK has a problem with his mouth and availability .
Why couldn’t we sign dalvin cook or something Melvin fell off plus he fumble’s at the wrong time
Cook fumbles just as much
