- did you know that there is a place in hyrule that doesnt have cel shading? if not, i will show u how to get in there!

There’s a few other places as well. Inside trial of the sword when you clip outta bounds, I’ve found a place.

Yeah, I believe there's a place in hyrule castle above ganon's cocoon that also has none?
there is also no cell shading in a similar hole on the other side of lake hylia
@@thehyperchargedcucco3379 yeah, you can just warp to the nearby tower and glide down. It's faster to get there that way.
theres also no cel shading when u clip into one of the dragon springs early. don't know which one it is tho because i forgor 💀
A whole game in that plastic style would look pretty good if done right, might get some backlash like windwaker back in the day but I personally I think it looks nice. edit: For everyone saying links awakening, like i said in a reply to one, the game looks great and has that kind of art style, BUT I mean a 3D zelda game

I didn't know that everything looked like plastic without the cel shading.
It's got to do with the lighting and reflections- Since the lighting style they intended to use didn't look like that, they left the surfaces with the "default" reflection settings or something.

@@StefanTabit not only that. Has to do with displacement/normal maps.
It's how default materials in most rendering engines look. Since there's nothing to control stuff like roughness, bump/normal, etc
cel shading looks like garbage. sorry bud. looks like a child designed it. take wind waker for example
My understanding is that the game does deferred shading, meaning that it draws everything once without the cel shading like you see here and then goes back and draws the cel shaded stuff again. Any place it thinks Link can't be seen because he's behind a wall, it doesn't do the deferred shading for that area. So there's an issue with the bridge mesh where it thinks he's inside it, depending on the camera angle, so it skips the deferred shading.

Nice find. Wish all of the game looked like that. Wish there was a code, like in some of the older N 64 games that let you change how a game looked. I would turn off Cel Shading if I could.
I don't know if this is a bit, but in case it isn't, turning off cell shading is an option in cemu ("plastic mode" under custom cell shading in the graphic pack menu) though I get it if emulators make you uncomfy

Also if you emulate this(wii u version) you can play the whole game without cel shading, and obviously better visual QoL changes

Uhh...this was already discovered several years ago, there's plenty of articles and videos covering this, not sure why post something about the same. I want to think that you discovered it by yourself and not by the internet.
I actually foudn this myself back in the day and was very confused
its looks plasticky because its the default material for any 3d object in the engine. thy didnt have normal maps or roughness texture for anything cause all of those goes into the cel shading process.
It's a lot easier to just warp to the nearby tower and float down to the bridge.
I remember coming to this spot to check it out, but don’t recall the difference being that drastic.
I remeber accidently finding this on my second or first play thru.
I was climbing up the that tower when i hit the spot and i was mad confused lol
