As my young 2nd nephew says each time he goes out with us,
“ I like fishing with maggits.” I smile every time he says it.
I'll have to give it a try..Thanks
We have found the tommies come in an hour or so before dusk. Also the rocks we fished from are really sharp and unstable to stand on so you need good boots!
Hey just discovered Ur channel. So far I love what I see, good work. Can't wait to watch more
Thanks! We really enjoy making the vids. Just wish we could fish more often!
Ha, yea don't we all. 'id rather be fishing' seems like the story of my life most of the time. Now that the weather is warming up.... Just hurts my soul.
You needed some burley to bring them in and hold them close, onion bag with some dried bread, a tin of sardines in tuna oil mashed up. Tie it on to the end of a rope, and hang it on the side of the rocks so the top of the bag is just out of the water. The wave wash will disperse the burley, the fish will come to you Try it next time you are there. Good luck.
Thanks for the tip. Second Valley is one of our favourite spots. I am sure will be back there to try it out :)
Fishing Sister go to Edinburgh you'll catch Tommies Gar and Squid look forward to your video
We have never fished at Edithburgh. Will definitely get there one day though :)
Nice one! I love a feed of fresh Tommies and so do my girls!
@@fishingsister I love Second Valley and the surrounding areas. Good fishing and even better scenery! Keep up the good work!
Hi I love fishing too
I go for more squids then fish but in saying that I would love to beach fishing for fish .
Squid are delicious and also great natural! I reckon beach fishing is the ultimate way to fish 🤩
@@fishingsister just a question can you use any fishing rod of the beach or do you need a surf rod?
I get all different answers
@@susanarichards5253 , -
If the shore is shallow for a long way out, use as long a rod as you can manage!
I guess for you, 13ft rod?
I use up to 14ft rod and walk in about up to my knees to cast!
In deeper water close in, use a shorter rod 🎣
Never thought you could get tommies of rocks like that we’re abouts at second valley are yous fishing
Keep an eye out for our next video as it is a similar situation but at Yorke Peninsula
Nice one. Can I ask..What time of year was it?
It was early September last year, so spring. We caught heaps of tommies in the same spot a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if it would be as good at other times of the year. Must test it and see :)
@@fishingsister Thanks. As a kid we used to catch them off the rocks to the north of the jetty. They used to be schools of big silver drummer swimming around in the Berley trail and once or twice we hooked one and they would fight very hard and they were very hard to get in. I wonder if it correlates with the Tommy rough run at Cape Jarvis?
When does the run at Cape Jervis happen? I have caught the odd one there but nothing spectacular
@@fishingsister Its been going over winter and is still going. Every arvo and early evening at the Jetty. All the fishing reports talk about it
I got nothing same spot last month.😂
Ok. We have found they come in about 4pm. But we have fished there when not daylight saving time. Not necessarily related to the tide but more to the sunset maybe.
Love it!
Thanks! It is still one of my favourite places
