I've been really liking Optyl. I wish more brands/ luxottica were incorporating it, because I think it's a really nice compromise and you're getting more than when you pay for nylon.

I bought a pair for me and a pair for my wife. Was it worth the 1000 bucks for both pairs? Hell no, but it was a cool experience, always is when dropping stupid money on luxury items.

I took a look at mine and I thought they had a scratch on the right lens, upon closer inspection it looks like the word Gucci is inscribed in the lens in handwriting, does that mean they're fake? Thanks
Thanks for the review. You’ve probably covered this elsewhere, but how did you heat up your frames in order to bend them to fit?
A heat gun, or put them in hot water.

My wife got me a pair of Gucci Aviators back when were dating as a gift. They were pretty solid in terms of lens quality as one would expect of glasses made by a major fashion house. Unfortunately the hinge quality and durability of them leaves much to be desired. Hinges felt flimsy after about a month and ultimately broke them when I sat on them like a dunce. Can’t blame any glasses for breaking when that happens but I feel like if I did the same with my Randolphs (not trying it) they would be fine. Even my Oakleys were more durable, and I don’t see Oakley as high end in terms of build quality either. As Shadereview says you are paying the Gucci Tax. A perfectly good pair if you care about luxury brands, but in terms of functionality you can find much better quality for less from Randolph Engineering or Maui Jim who are not owned by Luxottica like everyone else.
Yea definitely thanks for the comment and story! And for what it’s worth I have sat on my Randolph’s a few times by accident and they were perfectly fine!
@@ShadeReview Thanks for responding. I always learn something from your reviews, I thought Gucci was under the Luxottica umbrella, but I was mistaken. Not that everything Luxottica or Safilo makes is low quality, but it is kind of shocking how many brands' glasses are made by those two industry giants. Don't get me wrong, they still make some amazing products from time to time. I consider Oakley/Ray-Ban solid entry level options. In my opinion, the best of the Luxottica brands is Persol by a mile. I just don't think you can beat their quality or craftsmanship, plus they have timeless styles you just won't find in other brands under the umbrella of Luxottica.

@@sillycripple435 Hard to argue, they are in my elite 3 for sure. The only 3 sunglasses brands I think are worth the luxury price tag.

Maui Jim (Best lens tech)
Persol (Best frame tech and style)

You should try some Nordstrom Rack sunglasses and do a video in comparison to some that you bought straight from the company's site.
Branding is the best on Persol. Subtle to the unfamiliar eye and yet prominent to the ones that are aware of the brand.
This is one thing I dislike about every other major sunglass brands. The way they have their names written, so visibly, right across their lenses, thereby using the wearer to advertise itself. They should take a tip or two from Persol and Oakley when it comes to branding. Btw, branding is the only thing that I like about the present-day Oakleys. They falter in every other aspect.
Most thing I like about Persol (which others dont have) is that their glasses use the flex hinge which maintains the hinges to be like first day even having big head (like me)

I know you don't talk about glasses cases but I have five pairs of Maui Jim's and I see a lot of customer reviews as to how many are unhappy about the new trifold cardboard case and lack of a cloth pouch. when I am paying £300 for a premium brand it seems almost petty and penny pinching exercise by the accountants dept. or a management trying to maximise profits and by doing so lessen the brand name, not to get the cloth pouch and hard case it used to come with is so wrong I think Maui Jim have lost me as a customer in the future.
I would like to see your reaction. I would also like to see your reviews filmed in the sunshine as it can transform the way sunglasses look.

Oh I absolutely agree the trifold case is trash and the funnest part is Maui Jim didn’t even make the boxes any smaller so what’s the point 🙄 I really liked the old hard shell case
@@ShadeReviewI agree but it's wrong that you have to buy them at an extra cost as well as the pouch, I suppose the only advantage is they fold flat when not in use but even so it is no excuse.

LOL. There is nothing wrong with the trifold cases. Oliver Peoples Brunello Cuccinelli glasses come with an even flimsier, soft cases, sooooo? It is very comic to give up such a good brand because you don't like their case.

Agreed. I think Ray Bans are worth it but Gucci cost a lot more than Ray Bans. I am sure Gucci isn't that much better to be worth the price. But a nice pair of Ray Bans will last you a long time...and yes I understand not as long as Bausch and Lomb but still..worth it.

That is why I order directly from them. As the old cliche goes, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Unless its Black Friday, but then again there is an exception to every rule haha. I got my second pair of Randolphs 100$ off this fall, but know they are legit because I bought them directly. Live and learn my man, hope you can return the fakes.
Just spent 500 bucks in Gucci sunglasses. They look heck cool, but I wonder how worth it they actually are.

The material might be good, the construction and Gucci customer service is not! Bought a 390 euros boutique sunglasses, this summer, within 3 months the gold decoration from one of the sides just fell off! Contacted Gucci and they say it’s not due to the construction and offer me to have a new decoration made for which I have to pay 150 euros!! Complete joke! I’d rather smash it with a hammer than pay another 150 euros for glasses that are already 200 euros overpriced.
