What happens to options on IBKR? Normally you get a new ticker that includes the spinoff shares. Options contracts convert than to that new ticker. Although ibkr support HK shares they cant combine hk shares and nasdaq shares in one option contract right? How does that work?

@@mattmckeown3933 I think as a BABA ADR share holder, you will not be getting the full benefits of the split. As Adam mentioned, you may receive a cash dividend if a business unit splits into another company as the new company will not be listed in the US stock exchange. Sure, you get some cash of the IPO, as a one time payment. I think the best bet is to try and sign up for interactive broker and transfer the BABA shares to HK. If the split happens, you will get the new HK listing

The video is super helpful but it does raise some questions. So if you own adr baba shares at $85 dollars a share and the cash distribution of those 3 parts is only $35 a share. So if we get that in cash, what happens to the baba shares? Does the price do down to $50 or do the adr baba share are only worth $35? I assume baba adr shares get discontinued? I sold most of my baba shares at a loss but I still have some in my ira account. It’s been an awful stock!

If Cainiao shares are selling for 8.3x sales, I will sell those shares off day one. Low margin business, in a crowed space with no competitive advantage.

Breakup is just financial engineering. If it is so good, should keep it instead of distributing to shareholders. Do you see big tech like Google, Microsoft or Amazon do breakup?
China has repeatedly said they will eventually attempt to take taiwan. And I don't see anyway apart from a war....so, any other analysis is moot imo...

Adam I am very surprised you are not bullish on Ali it’s at one of the lowest price it has been in many years. BABA still growing plenty of buybacks in the future and complete reopening hasn’t reflected yet in regards to sales. Upside compared to downside is very attractive. Backing up the truck at these prices.

Only BABA ( the burger) will be listed on the US market. The other parts will be listed in HK
But we get the profits through the BABA adr?
