Very cool! I love looking at old colonial-era machines, technology, tools, etc... they weren't quite up to where we're at here in the 21st century, but those people were very ingenious and came up with a lot of interesting contraptions to make life easier/better.
"Hello Frank How Are You?" Joe Not-so-subtle Hardy Boys reference 😄 Undoubtedly they would have used this to copy a treasure map while leaving behind the original... "The Secret of the Caves"?
James Watt didn't invent the steam engine. He made various improvements which made it much more efficient but many people had built steam engines long before James Watt was born.
…use transfer and normal ink selectively for specific letters and you can code messages that will only be readable after you make a copy and see the message transferred… 🤝 🧐🧐🧐😉
I worked on modern photocopiers ,did they have problems with stupid customers (putting the paper in the wrong way and breaking the handle by turning it the wrong way LOL
@oldtypewritersandcalculators ho anche io una Olivetti Lettera 35, purtroppo il carrello non va piu avanti da solo quando scrivo, credo sia colpa di una molla

This is some old skool UA-cam content. Interesting subject, no drama, no sponsors. Dude just showed us how it worked. I hope you get a million views.
Many thanks, I appreciated very much what you said.
It is impressive what smart solutions people came up over time.
You are right, it's a smart and simple system

You are right, with few technologies they came up with very smart solutions.
Thank you ever so much!!!

You made a very astute reference. I read the story now on Wikipedia, but I didn't knew it. I'm from Italy this book is not very known in Italy.

Thanks for the information. My main interest are typewriters and old office devices, so I could be not so precise about steam engine.
All I hear is Nandoor from What We Do In The Shadows
Vampires?

@@oldtypewritersandcalculators indeed, but I think the allies would have solved it faster because it is not quite as sophisticated. 😉

These device is much more simple, there are two rollers and a crank. You would had no problem with assistance,
Look, no crummy plastic bits!
You are right, it's all wood and brass
The waterproof separators used for multiple copies were possibly covered in polymers (plastic) of the oils used.
@@geo8rge Yes, you can feel that it is paper treated with something waterproof, but it is very fragile.

thanks!
Typo in title: "form", instead of "from". ♥
Many thanks, I corrected it.
Molto interesante, grazzie !
Grazie!

if I understand good, it can copy only special ink, not for example newspapers?
Yes, it's correct, you cannot copy newspapers, but only letters made with special ink that dissolve in water.
