The layout is almost exactly the same as in the late 80s! MBR now has an ensuite. The kitchen is a little smaller than I remember but everything else is the same. Oh, I'm sure the phone booth is no longer at the 'split' next to my home in from of the playground that was being built as we moved in! 😉 Thank you for sharing!! Brought back a LOT of memories!
I lived there in 1964 when I was 11 at 9 Hessenstrase. I got to visit there Dec 2021. First you drove by the tennis courts (next to the baseball fields) which is on top of the landfill I used to go exploring in (I found a Na*i SS belt buckle there). Then you drove past my friend's (John C.) home where I kissed my first girl (Robin W.), then you drove by the sidewalk where I cut my ankle with a sharp edge of a lawnmower (I still have the scar) because I used to mow lawns for $1 to earn money. Then you drove past my first girlfriend's building (Robin W.) Then you drove up the hill by the building where my family lived. I built a huge skateboard out of an ironing board, mounted a motorcycle seat on it and several parts of metal roller skates, painted it purple and red. Rode it till the metal wheels disintegrated :) My older sister got pregnant there at 17 and had to go back to the US to a place for unwed mothers to give birth as she couldn't be seen pregnant in high school. (those were the times and it would have hurt my father's career.) It's covered up or destroyed now, but slightly out of Aukamm there was a WW2 German bunker we used to play in. I remember once a few of us were crossing a farmer's field which had just been plowed and I found a bunch of live rounds about the size of 50 cal. I just took them home because I wanted to save them, but my father got them disposed of for safety. I saw my first nipple there at the Opalbad (Nina P.) at 11. (By real I mean it did something to me that was new). Lot's of good memories there.

Aukamm Housing looks a lot better now than when I was stationed in the late 1980s in Wiesbaden.

You bet! Thanks for watching!
Do all GS/DOD civilians live off post in Wiesbaden?
No not all but most do yes. It’s the same for all bases in Germany.
