- Carl is covering "Classical Gas," written by Mason Williams, which is a song that he played many times with Glen Campbell...., this time, Carl does it on banjo!!!
Richard here: I sort of remember Carl from the Glen Campbell Show. After coming back from Vietnam, I saw Campbell at Revinia north of Chicago and learned what a real performer was. Somehow, I sadly missed following Carl also. Now so many years later, I realize what a great performer he is.

I took a vocal and songwriting class at Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins W.V. with Mr. Jackson a few years back and out of all the classes I ever attended there those two were hands down the best. Thanks Carl.

At first I thought “Classical Gas” on banjo? I don’t think so. But I was happily proven wrong. Virtuoso stuff! Just discovered Carl Jackson recently and wish I’d discovered him 40 years earlier. A class act in every respect.

@@RobinandCarlJackson well, Carl, Robin, honestly I was not meaning to offend, but it conjured up images of the Smother's Brothers, and 1960's Hollywood things of that ilk. Carl, anyhow, is as old as I am, so does not require any explanation of that.

You are such a great talent, Carl! But nothing like being thrown into the trenches @ such an early age w/Glen Campbell! Was it ever intimidating working with Glen? And you're passing a lot of that musical talent as well as how to be a celebrity on to Ashley! She is lucky to have you as her Godfather! I know you love Ashley. I also know she's in good hands in her music career! Forget Wynonna Judd! Ashley needs to be the one front & center! So does Debby! I love both of their musical talents! Glen Campbell will never be forgotten as long as Ashley & Debby are out there performing, even if they don't always sing their Dad's music! Ashley did a great cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene"! Ashley should get together w/Chapel Heart! Ashley could sing "Jolene" & Chapel Heart could follow w/"You Can Have Him Jolene"! That would be fun to watch!

Awesome!! Looking forward to it :) There is unfortunately not a lot of Carl's banjo playing on UA-cam, but if you invest in solid camera/audio equipment, he may start getting the respect he deserves as one of the most progressive banjoists in history!
