  • This video documents the first full-scale ignition test of our low-cost, reusable VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) liquid rocket. To ensure safety, the rocket was suspended by a crane for this initial test flight. This test involved manually controlling the engine thrust, which did not allow for stable hovering. We plan to implement a flight control system in future tests to achieve fully automated, fixed-altitude hovering. The rocket features a 3D-printed engine made from stainless steel 316L, capable of producing a maximum thrust of 200N. It utilizes a regenerative cooling system combined with a pintle injector. A plunger pump is used for fuel delivery, and the rocket is propelled by gaseous high-pressure oxygen and alcohol. The rocket has a height of 1.8 meters, and its takeoff mass with full fuel is 15.8 kg.

      Someone's been paying attention to a certain "red blob"-tracking rocket, I take it?

    The fact that this was all done on a low budget is amazing. I've been following you for a while and am proud to see your recent success. Happy new year!

    Three UA-cam channels I like, for Amateur Rocketry, IMHO:
    1. BPSspace (He looks like Elon Musk too...)
    2. L Shang
    3. LafayetteSystems

    请注意,如果您打算开发隔热罩再入设计,请使用勒洛三角形横截面作为您的滚道、内部组件配置以及最重要的空气动力学和等离子控制🤔?

    How do you manage to integrate the acceleration into height so effectively? No drift at all. What accelerometr/gyroscope are you using? BNO085, or something even better? Thanks.

      I think he is also fusing data with a barometer
      Basic MEMS imus are perfectly capable of integrating to position like that as long as their offsets are correctly compensated / mitigated

    • @KubFire
      @KubFire 17 днів тому

      @ulyu7071 well, the offsets are by far the hardest thing on height measuring. Takes a lot of computing/math to work out

      barometers are so good, today, that it would provide excellent sensor fusion, and, if you had an uplink, you could transmit current ground level barometric correction. acceleration, 3d gyro, barometer.
