    This is absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing your work and wisdom. It gives me great hope and ideas! I have a lemon and avocado tree both four years old not bearing fruit yet. I bring it indoors in the Illinois winter.

    Nice to see your work Samuel Ford. I live on a tropical island. I am creating my little tropical fruit forest, but I am resisted by the aggressive environment... insects, plants and weather.... and soil type and elevation. Wish I had your skills!

      Thanks a lot. It is hard work doing everything by hand. It would be easier for you If you use woodchips or any mulch for creating good soil. We have one of the worst soils in Europe here. 7 points out 100 points.

    Thank you Samuel for your interesting greenhouse tours. I would be interested to know more about how you heat your tropical greenhouse? What is the lowest temperature that you get in the winter?

    • @fordplants
      @fordplants  3 роки тому +3

      The greenhouse is heated with biogas and the lowest temperature would be 10 degree

      @@fordplants I see. I'm considering building a tropical greenhouse myself. Would you be able to tell me how much does it cost you per year to heat your greenhouse with biogas and what is the greenhouse area?

    Hi Samuel! I have a big admiration for your work and passion. I'm planning to build a small tropical geothermal green house, after few years, here in Romania, witch i think is the same climate like in Germany. Your green house looks huge, but for my curiosity, what dimensions to ho have over there? length x width x height
    And how you keep it cool in the summer? From what i see you don't have polycarbonate, that is a simple glass?
    Thank you!

    • @fordplants
      @fordplants  2 роки тому +4

      Hi, the greenhouse is now 1200m2 big. About 35m long and 34m wide + a 10m times 10m big Wintergarten infringement of the greenhouse. It is between 6 and 8m tall. We have bulletproof insulated glass on the sides. ( because we have got many hail storms) and 2 plastic covers with air in between on the roof. Up to 1 m thick Air between the plastic. You can also visit the greenhouse here next to the Alps when we have a open day for the public. We heat the greenhouse with the cooling water from the ship 🚢 engines with transform biogas into rotation and then into ⚡️ electricity. We cool the greenhouse with cold water running through the same airfans where the hot water go’s Into. Or we just use the outside air and blow it inside. We also cool with water sprinklers. So we can keep the temperature down to 25 degrees

    how much did the greenhouse cost and were was it from

    • @fordplants
      @fordplants  2 роки тому +2

      It is a standard Thermo greenhouse. The costs are on every location and each year different. But 200€ per m2 are realistic if planing to build a greenhouse. Of course permissions and the heating cost also money. So you have to calculate it out what the best way for you is.
