- Ostwind, also known as Windstorm in English is the sequel to the movie (and game) Windstorm: Start of a Great Friendship. It also features in my 'Top 10 Horse Launch Fails' Video and today I finally get to see if the game is really worth it.

Where do you think game went wrong?
When the vet prescribed meds to the grandma😂😂😂😂 or when the child who never rode a horse, rode him and jump without a helmet!😂🤣 or when they guilt trip the child to have listened to the adults when they told her « ride the horse » like Sam is very toxic wth🤣 or when Thor,whatever his name is, is threatening to burned Ari’s face 👀🤣

Camera, controls, lack of animation, text base instead of animated, boring A to B mission's, frustratingly and unnecessary hard in place's made more so because of controls and camera.
Well, first of all it was made, that's the first mistake.
But really where do I start? Art direction, voice acting, transparent story, janky animations, it's just all bad through and through.
1.The control button symbols next to the tasks are way too small
2. The only way to stop galloping is to crash into something, like a tree. Then you often get “stuck in the tree” and can’t move.
3. Ari is 13 yet sounds like an 8 year old
4. They put Ari on Windstorm without testing her riding ability, no saddle and bridle, no helmet, and allow her to gallop and jump
5. Ari steals the horse and runs away and an old man gives her a place to sleep by a campfire up in the mountains, away from any other people
6. A vet prescribing medications to a person
7. Sam.
I've had a go at this game before, and there's definitely chase scenes in it where you have to escape from people coming after you and avoid being seen. Later in the game. I actually gave up the game from a chase scene, you had to gallop away from Isabel in her car it was ridiculously hard and I couldn't get passed it and I just sadly gave up. I find chase scenes scary though lol makes my heart race!
Same! I gave up at the same place. It was hard and the camera was doing my head in! Such a shame this game had potential but unfortunately did not execute it well at all.
Lowkey, the movies are on my top favorite horse movies ever. They didn't make the girl magically a horse expert with a magic connection to the horse and the ending wasn't expected, i won't spoil it tho.

I mean if you check out the third movie and go to the scene with the race, her communicating ith him through her thoughts isn't exactly non-magical

I have it at Home but i do not Play it alot because i Think that it is kind of hard. 🐴🐴🐴🐴🐎🐎🐎 ther are also 4-5 Movies with windstorm and another game with windstorm and the name for the movies are ostwind and the other games name is windstorm a start of a great freindship.

I just found out a horse game is coming out in November called horse tales emerald valley ranch. It would be cool to see what you thought of the trailer for the game
I own the game and I personally enjoy it. A friend of mine I bought it for, doesn't like the game and stopped playing it. The game will be enjoyed by some, but not everyone. The graphics are beautiful, and once you get used to the controls, it becomes more fun to play. At least that's how it was for me when I played the game.

i went crazy over the movies a few years ago but then i got a book of the series and then they announced the book ive read was gonna be the next movie but the book basically was the 5th? i think idk so they just ignored the book order and it made me so mad i didnt watch any of the new movies .. lol

I liked that game when I started it, even thought the story is sometimes really borderline, but it quickly become VERY boring. it's always the same thing, moving from A to B for a stupid quick mission then go to C and repeat, with very few interraction with the horse of of running everywhere, rather sad

Hello im kinda early!
Ngl, this game looks awful… I personally can’t stand text-based games with jarring character expression changes, especially when all of the text is voice-acted anyway. They could have cut all of those text blocks and character portraits in favor of in-game cutscenes. If the controls are as rough to use as they look, that alone would be enough to make me feel like I’ve just bought a barely-finished early access game. The jump animations on horseback are ghastly, especially in that first cutscene. The whole thing is scripted, so why is Windrunner soaring 4-5 body lengths over level ground when jumping over a tiny log? Why does the game have such an issue with switching gaits too? They could have made it simple, like BotW’s horse-riding. Instead its all janky any confusing. And why do the horses look so off? It’s like they were modeled by someone who has never seen a horse irl, not by a studio who’s made dozens of hours worth of horse films (I know the runtime of the movies does not equal “dozens” of hours but there are definitely dozens of hours of cut horse footage from the Windrunner films they could have referenced).
It really feels like the only thing they thought through was the story; and even that is the same exact story as every other horse/animal game out there. Traumatized new person comes to the ranch/farm/shelter, meets traumatized animal, feels bad for the animal, evil animal abusers are introduced, new person has to save everyone from the bad man, animal and person form a bond so strong the bad man can’t defeat them, bad man dies or goes to jail, end credits. It would be really nice if one of these “greatest horse game of all time” titles could actually write a story not revolving around the exact same story line as all the rest.
Like, when are we going to get an open-world horse game that centers around just a herd of wild horses? You could even put it back in preindustrial times. A herd of wild horses with a stallion as their leader, leading his mares across the Great Plains of North America, avoiding buffalo, bears, wolves, and even tribes of humans looking to tame them for mounts. The goal is simply to survive, and there could be succession in the game where play passes from father to son. Hell, you could even date it further back and tell the story of horses having to cross the Bering Land Bridge into Asia in ancient times. Make it like the Oregon Trail of horse games. But, sadly, I doubt anything like that will ever come to the market… 😞
