My foreigner husband thought I was crazy when I insisted that we needed to stop at Buc-ees on our way to San Antonio. Two hours later he’d tried on cowboy hats, sampled his way through all the beef jerky (and bought several pounds), bought several magnets for family members and looked at all the kitschy clothing and home decor. Now it’s a regular stop on all our road trips for the coffee and bathrooms (yes, they’re that nice!!).
I’m a native Texan so I’ve seen my fair share of Bucees. My family stopped at one last week after a quiet week on the beach and I was NOT READY. Nothing prepares you for the sheer chaos. It truly is the Disneyland of gas stations. The building was packed to the brim with people gazing out at the sites like tourists, children were roving in packs, and trying to order kolaches was a harrowing experience. If you’re visiting Bucees for the first time, go BEFORE you decompress because your stop will definitely put you into fight or flight mode.
I think I've had the fortune of stopping in less than peak times, such as on work travel. Since I was alone last Thanksgiving, I took a field trip to get kolaches in the morning a day or two before. There was a small line, but not chaotic.

Buc-ees is an institution in Texas. The famously clean restrooms, beef jerky, nuggets, brisket (a staple of Texas barbecue), well over 75 gas pumps in most locations, home decor, novelty items, and unique clothing can all be found there. It's like a 7-11, a gas station, a specialized but cheap food place, and a Target merged in one.

We had our first Buc-ees experience yesterday at the brand new one in Crossville TN. Wow. This video is spot on! One word of advice: it’s a nightmare trying to keep track of four kids in this place. Yikes! The chocolate-covered beaver nuggets were delicious and the brisket looked amazing. I loved the “art gallery” on the way into the restrooms. This place is the Disney World of gas stations!
Took my mom to Buc-ee's. Had to go right back to take my son. It's definitely an experience. "OMG, they built Texas on a slab in South Carolina!" Basically, they did. Everyone on my holiday shopping list is getting something from Buc-ee's.

I was in Buc-ees when I realized that my father dresses like every other Texas grandfather (khaki pants, flannel shirt, ball cap). My mother and I emerged from the bathroom and started looking for my father. We went through at least 5 similarly dressed elderly men before we found him. It was terrifying. Still spent about $100 though.

That sums up a Buc-ee's. Good food, good merchandise, and definitely a stop to help you stretch on those long drives. Also, they are not kidding about both cleanliness of the restrooms and the size either. The only way you will ever see a line at a Buc-ee's restroom is if there are about 3 or 4 buses outside as well as the usual customers. Ok, it might be a slight exaggeration, emphasis on the word slight. And finally, as a food reviewer on UA-cam going by the handle of Strictly Dumpling said, it has better BBQ than you would find in New York City. Yeah, I know it isn't a high bar to clear, but it is still funny a Texas gas station can beat any BBQ place in New York City.

I love Buc-ee's. We've got the first one in Florida in Daytona Beach. My sons took me for the first time, a year or so ago. I was flabbergasted! The pictures here don't do it justice. If they had tables in there, you would eat breakfast, go shopping, eat lunch, more shopping and grab some food for supper and go home (with one or more trips to the bathroom mixed in)
I got dragged on a family vacation. Buc-ee's was the only part I enjoyed. As someone with a lot of food allergies, this place actually had a good selection of snacks I could eat. Coolest gas station ever.
I went to my FIRST Buc-ee's on May 4th in Richmond, KY and I finally found Banana Pudding close to what my grandmom and mom made. Was glad I stopped there and the clerk helped me find a hotel nearby so I was able to stop from the night.
I made the mistake of filling up there yesterday (we have one nearby and they're always the cheapest). Oh my goodness the amount of 4th of July weekend people was insane. I only spent 45 minutes hanging around instead of my 2 hours, it was such a mad house. In all seriousness, they've got it all there. And my over the hill butt has numerous pictures of me with the Buc-ees guy and the statue (especially when he was wearing a giant mask - so cute).
Buc-ee's is a State Landmark that's been scattered all over The Great State of Texas! Any that show-up outside of Texas, well, we thought we'd throw y'all a bone. 🤣
I noticed they said commode. As a Southerner it surprised me to travel and discover that some Americans have never heard the word commode. I rarely call it a toilet
We called & still say restroom or, for the ladies, it was powder room. My mother said referring it as toilet, was common, LOL. Of course, she was born in 1926 😃
Came at the perfect time because I just had my first buc-ees experience. The brisket sandwich is good, but those candied pecans and beaver nuggets are the best thing to ever happen to my taste buds.
I live in North Carolina. I was in St. Augustine, Florida going home from Orlando. I stopped at a Buc-ee’s and am I glad. It’s like a paradise for southerners.
My wife and I stopped in one for the first time in August and were shocked and impressed. I have NEVER seen bathrooms so clean and when someone would come out of a stall an attendant would immediately go in to clean it as if he were on a game show called "Clean That Toilet!". I saw a sign outside advertising their pay and then I understood why the attendant was motivated - $20 an hour is not bad. BTW - The brisket sandwich was awesome.
We went to our first in Leeds, Alabama. I told my wife and daughter they needed to check out the restroom. "Naw, I don't need to go." I told them they needed to see it not necessarily use it. They were so impressed they ended up using them.
I stopped into a Buc-ee's for the first time in April 2024. I had driven past them hundreds of times but never had the chance to stop. It exceeded all my expectations. I got my picture taken with the Buc-ee mascot and bought a stuffed beaver exactly like the one at 1:38. I loved it, but my wife absolutely hated it. She has anxiety and the place was too "peoply" for her. I know it was crowded, but that kinda added to the charm for me. I can't wait to stop again in the future.
I plan my route to and from most destinations in Texas around whether there is a Buc-ee's on the way. When you're on the road where Buc-ee's doesn't have stores, you really, really begin to miss Buc-cee's bathrooms.
Some friends did a rod trip going from Buc-ee to Buc-ee. I understand that is a thing. Read that Tesla cut a deal to install charging stations. I hope it takes 4 hrs to charge so my wife won’t get mad at me for hanging around.
As a native Texan, there definitely some fightin’ words said, especially by Liz. I loved the Pantera concert in the New Braunfels location comment. You must have an old school Texas on staff.

My son and I ran into Mary at a 4th of July event yesterday. Very sweet lady! And I love the Buc-ees restrooms and pulled pork sandwiches. We will go out of our way by a hundred miles to visit one!
@@jmit3491 I know. I'm originally from Texas. The point is here in Atlanta, where I live now, you can't find them unless you go to the Buc-ees in Calhoun. Most local donut places near me are boutique shops. It's annoying.
Ryan's chroma ghost is trippy. If I was driving around and stopped in, I'd be a Liz. Matt better get his Buc-EE home, he might be supporting 7 more kids he doesn't even know he had.
My first experience at a Buc-ee's was at 1 in the morning on a road trip and to this day nothing I've ever experienced was more euphoric than the 3 hours I spent in that building.
Stopped there with my parents yesterday. Dad just had to see it. It was overwhelming, especially for my mom, so we ended up just getting food and leaving. The brisket was excellent though, as was the iced coffee.
I live 2 exits past the one in Leeds and I always go there. The secret as a local is to go before or after the rush. The rush lasts about 22 hours, so you have a limited time, but it is worth it. Also, learn the back roads to get there, and never try to go there from the interstate.
We live in Memphis and the Leeds location is (sadly) currently the closest to us, so anytime we’re heading that direction we have to stop! We have found that late night is the best time to visit, as you can just drive right off the interstate and park near the front door - one night we got to our hotel late and went to grab a bite at Buc-ee’s at 130am and *almost* had the whole place to ourselves! 🤩
My family lives in Leeds. My first visit back last summer, my sister and I went to that Buc-ee's at 2am. We were there for hours lol. Hands down recommend! I literally can't stand that place during the day, though....
Texan here... we literally opened a new bank account with TDECU in order to get the Buc-ees credit card because you get a discount on gas. Felt a little silly back when gas was
And their gas is like $.80 a gallon less than everybody else is in the entire state, so you can afford that extra extra extra large brisket sandwich for $12.99! And some home made potato chips…AND a candied pecan cone…with an extra large drink! MY favorite place off of the interstate fer sure!
Brought my family from Mexico. They were so overwhelmed they walked out of the first one. I got them snacks. By the end of their trip they had mugs, T-shirts, candy, hats, shoes, and who knows what else. When I travel I bring them something back. It IS the Disney World of gas stations. 🎉
When they opened the one in Alabama on I-10 on the way to Orange Beach it became a road trip marker for us. We ALWAYS get gas when traveling between Mobile AL & Panama City FL. It is literally THE busiest intersection in south Alabama. Geniuses built it on the corner of the exit that everyone HAS to use to get to the beaches and attractions. Sheer genius!
We just got back from Gulf Shores and I thought that Buc-ees store had just opened and was having a Grand Opening celebration because there was a mile-long line of cars waiting in completely stopped traffic to get in!!! I was shocked to find out it opened over a year ago lolololol
Stopped by there on the way home to Texas from Orlando and it took us 45 minutes to navigate around it and we didn’t even get out because it was soo crowded. We decided we would hit up another one back in Texas later in the trip
Just got back from Perdido Key today and I think got robbed by a giant beaver last seen wearing a red ball cap living in place called buc-eee Just off I-10 near Orange Beach. Not mad at him he was actually very nice. He let me leave with fresh brisket , fudge and drinks.
My husband works right by the one in New Braunfels. I can't tell you the number of phone calls that we have made requesting Beaver Nuggets or jerky to be picked up by him.
We go camping in MS every March. First time I ever went into a Buccees, I told the cashier 'HOLY GAS STATION BATMAN!" and she damn near fell over laughing.
We were in awe when they built one here in St. Augustine, Florida. So many pumps. So much to see. And it's a decor and clothing store inside?! 🤯 I still get a little mental giggle when I see the "Potty like a rock star" billboards. The bathrooms are spotless and the food is so good for a gas station. You can also get knock-off Rae Dunn dishes for twice the price while you fight through crowds of customers, and weirdly textured eggs in their breakfast offerings, so you definitely get a mixed bag when you visit the place. 😆
The more I hear about this place, the more I desire to visit it. They haven't reached us here in NC yet, but there's always several opportunities on the way to our next family vacation down to Florida...
I am Texas born and raised but live in another state. My husband and I went to Texas a couple of weeks ago and it was his first time. He really enjoyed his first Buc-ee’s experience. I was watching this will laying on the Buc-ee’s pillow pet we got there. 😅 Man I really wish I could go to a Buc-ee’s all the time.
My favorite Buc-ees billboard was on I-10 near Tallahassee going west: Buc-ees, 794 miles. That was a few years ago, before Buc-ees expanded into Alabama.

That true. I live in Oregon but visit my daughter and family in San Antonio 2 or 3 times a year. Bucee’s is fun and I love H.E.B. Always bring something back to Oregon from there. Love Texas.
I went to a buccees for the first time in my life this past weekend. I told my wife that it's like a combination of a circle k, a super Walmart, and a Disney gift shop.

We were at a church in KY that had a Christian school. They’d just gotten a Buc-ee’s in their area and that’s where they took the kids for a field trip. 😂 They took us along, too, and we had a great time comparing and sharing everything we’d bought on the ride home. Side note: if you love chocolate and peanut butter, get an Overbite!!! It’s usually at the registers (if they’re not sold out). Best thing they have, no joke. We get it every time.
I'm from Kentucky and we got our first Buc-ees this spring. I was in love from the first minute I walked in LOL I wish I could say I was kidding, but nope! I go there for any excuse I get. Oh, we need ice, I will run to Buc-ees even though we have a gas station 1/8 mile from the house and Buc-ees is 10 miles away, I'm still going
Oh yeah! Good ol Buc-ee's 😁. During 2020 when everything was closing early becoming store ghost towns at 7pm. Buc-ee's said naw come hang out here like you use to do at Walmart. They stayed open 24/7 and stayed spotless clean 🥰🥰.
The funniest thing I went to bucee’s the first time last Saturday on my way to florida and then we went yesterday before we came home TWICE And loved it best experience I would go again!
I got the Buc-ee's experience three years ago on a road trip to Florida. I think I stopped at most of the ones along I-10 along the way, and it was a genuine treat. Makes me wish they'd make their way to Arizona, because they'd have instant customers!
You can always tell the Bucc-ee newbies - they're the folks debating which jerky to get but also buy clothes and gift items. BTW, the coffee is excellent and cheap! Love the New Braunsfel store, but I'll stop in Giddings for a rest break too.

Good for you Texas has a little bit for everyone.
Oh man, we just experienced our first Buc’ees last week! And everything in this video is true! 120 gas pumps? Sounds great!
Don't forget the 70 urinals!
@@kerncountyrd5263 And I can get a chopped brisket sandwich? And some venison beef jerky?
@@jerrydixon9343 As much as you want!
I went to my FIRST Buc-ee's on May 4th in Richmond, KY and I finally found Banana Pudding close to what my grandmom and mom made. Was glad I stopped there and the clerk helped me find a hotel nearby so I was able to stop from the night.
@@pamfoster4460 The first one we stopped at was in South Carolina, the second one was in Leeds, Alabama
That was mighty kind of ya! We love our Buc-ee's in Daytona. Thanks, Texas!
A big thank you from Georgia ❤️
Virginia would like one if you could hook us up. We promise not to locate it north of Fredericksburg. Somewhere south of Richmond would be just right.
I noticed they said commode. As a Southerner it surprised me to travel and discover that some Americans have never heard the word commode. I rarely call it a toilet
I'm a born and raised Texan, and my mother always says commode. She's the only person I know that says that, and it drives me crazy!
Born and raised in southeast Texas. I’ve heard it called a commode all my life. I still say that.
I almost always use commode. The exception being when I'm talking about cleaning. I buy a toilet brush and toilet cleaner, so I call it a toilet then.
Native South Carolinian here. Only names I ever heard it called growing up was commode or crapper.
We called & still say restroom or, for the ladies, it was powder room. My mother said referring it as toilet, was common, LOL. Of course, she was born in 1926 😃
I live 10 min from a Buc-ee's and I promise, the breakfast tacos are no joke. Also, the wall of beef jerky is intimidating
Came at the perfect time because I just had my first buc-ees experience. The brisket sandwich is good, but those candied pecans and beaver nuggets are the best thing to ever happen to my taste buds.
At 1:00 minute Thanos tried to dust him but the Walmart sized gas station protects everyone within.
Oh good! Thought that was my phone acting up lol!!
That's hilarious 😂 !
That's just from the salt in the jerky.
I am laughing out loud.... dying
🤣🤣🤣
I live in North Carolina. I was in St. Augustine, Florida going home from Orlando. I stopped at a Buc-ee’s and am I glad. It’s like a paradise for southerners.
1:00 The green screen glitching out makes this even funnier
Just looking for this comment lol
For a Second I though he was being Thanos'ed
Our entire family loves this place. Great adventure
My wife and I stopped in one for the first time in August and were shocked and impressed. I have NEVER seen bathrooms so clean and when someone would come out of a stall an attendant would immediately go in to clean it as if he were on a game show called "Clean That Toilet!". I saw a sign outside advertising their pay and then I understood why the attendant was motivated -
$20 an hour is not bad.
DUN DUN DALLAS DUN DUN STARS!
@@kylepmore2842 My very first year in Dallas, I landed a side-job as a food runner at the AAC for Stars and Mavs games. That was my "work" song. Funny thing is, I didn't learn until earlier this year the drummer for Pantera was who wrote the score for "Puck Yeah".
My son and I ran into Mary at a 4th of July event yesterday. Very sweet lady! And I love the Buc-ees restrooms and pulled pork sandwiches. We will go out of our way by a hundred miles to visit one!
If you live outside of Texas and know what a Kolache is, you rock! Can't find them here in Georgia except at the new Buc-ee's.
@@jmit3491 I know. I'm originally from Texas. The point is here in Atlanta, where I live now, you can't find them unless you go to the Buc-ees in Calhoun. Most local donut places near me are boutique shops. It's annoying.
We first experienced them in Czech Village in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ryan's chroma ghost is trippy. If I was driving around and stopped in, I'd be a Liz. Matt better get his Buc-EE home, he might be supporting 7 more kids he doesn't even know he had.

“I have one bathroom and it will never be that clean.” 😂 Truth!
I haven’t been blessed yet with a trip but it’s on my bucket list!
You don't know what you're missing!
You will not be sorry.

@@joan.nao1246 hahaha Excellent!
You have to go!!
My first experience at a Buc-ee's was at 1 in the morning on a road trip and to this day nothing I've ever experienced was more euphoric than the 3 hours I spent in that building.
We just got one in Kentucky about 30 minutes from me. Haven't ventured there yet, but lots of people from my town have taken road trips to visit.
We just stopped there a few days ago! It was extremely busy, but pretty neat
Stopped there with my parents yesterday. Dad just had to see it. It was overwhelming, especially for my mom, so we ended up just getting food and leaving. The brisket was excellent though, as was the iced coffee.
Where is the one in KY? We're headed to Indiana soon and I must stop at this Buc-ee's!
Beth Moss, it's in Richmond. Exit 83. Can't miss it!!!
@@Dawn_Hannah They’re building one just south of Athens AL on I-65, that’ll be about 3 hours closer for you!
My family lives in Leeds. My first visit back last summer, my sister and I went to that Buc-ee's at 2am. We were there for hours lol. Hands down recommend! I literally can't stand that place during the day, though....
I haven't been to one but it's now on my bucket list! 😁
I saw an ad at the one in Crossville, TN and it had an ad for a car wash manager to make six figures, I kid you not.
Texan here... we literally opened a new bank account with TDECU in order to get the Buc-ees credit card because you get a discount on gas. Felt a little silly back when gas was
Same, and shifting my direct deposit over to them next week.
I have a Buc-cee's Card. You now get 5% off everything in the store too!
And their gas is like $.80 a gallon less than everybody else is in the entire state, so you can afford that extra extra extra large brisket sandwich for $12.99! And some home made potato chips…AND a candied pecan cone…with an extra large drink! MY favorite place off of the interstate fer sure!
Buc-ee's is the only place that I've ever been where "Restroom Attendant" is a fulltime job!
I've had to drive 3 hours to get to a Buc-ees. Worth it.
I hold it every time until I can get to Buc-ee’s. Well worth the wait
And they do have the cleanest bathrooms!
Gulfport Mississippi gets theirs just in time for Christmas. Yea!!!! But in tge meantime, I'll still have the hubby drive me to Alabama. Lol❤
Matt Mitchell is a treasure of the South.
"Ok ma'am, your child is flipping me off"
We were in awe when they built one here in St. 😆
I never thought about the fact they sell all that food and there are no tables 😂😂😂
That was my first thought. No place to eat, and light leather car interiors don't mix with barbecue sauce.
People would never leave if they did have a place to sit.
Smart NOT to have tables.
They also don't sell lottery tickets. Prevents people from clogging up the checkout lines.
@@thegrumpytexan Wow. I never noticed that
The biggest Buc-ees just opened in Luling Texas - the closest one to my house. (YAY!)😁
The one on Hillsboro opened a month ago. It's always packed! But always clean!
The more I hear about this place, the more I desire to visit it. They haven't reached us here in NC yet, but there's always several opportunities on the way to our next family vacation down to Florida...
If you go down 75 there is one in Warner-Robbins
Just built one in Florence, SC right off of I-95. Will seem the perfect stop going down to FL from NC.
Eventually there will be one in Sevierville Tennessee.
But y'all have Cook-Out. I know it's not the same, but as a Marylander I'm still jealous of those.

The art museum by the bathroom! This has me laughing!!!
I have passed these while driving and heard about the brisket. I must stop at one of these one day. 😊
When she said "Sheetz or Wawa" you knew them's was fightin words.
My favorite Buc-ees billboard was on I-10 near Tallahassee going west:

That was a few years ago, before Buc-ees expanded into Alabama.
"They sell kidneys here, too?!" "I think I lost my wife; oh, wait, I see they sell flares..." LOL Perfection.

First time I went to a Buc-ees was when I moved to Texas. I was just looking around like 'how is this a gas station'
It was certainly an experience.
Combine a Buc-ees with a Super 8 motel and you would never need to leave for anything!
I laughed outloud at the line its just like Sheetz or Wawa. You could fit 20 of each of them in a Buc-ees.
Oh yeah! Good ol Buc-ee's 😁. During 2020 when everything was closing early becoming store ghost towns at 7pm. Buc-ee's said naw come hang out here like you use to do at Walmart. They stayed open 24/7 and stayed spotless clean 🥰🥰.
They sell kolaches? I’ve never had them from a store; that’s super cool! I’ll have to grab some sometime! (Sorry, Grandma! 😆)

I got the Buc-ee's experience three years ago on a road trip to Florida. I think I stopped at most of the ones along I-10 along the way, and it was a genuine treat. Makes me wish they'd make their way to Arizona, because they'd have instant customers!
Don't you dare sleep on Wawa (or Sheetz, for that matter).

You can always tell the Bucc-ee newbies - they're the folks debating which jerky to get but also buy clothes and gift items. BTW, the coffee is excellent and cheap! Love the New Braunsfel store, but I'll stop in Giddings for a rest break too.
The Giddings store is TINY. It might be a good "starter Buc-ee's" for Yankees so they don't get lost in there.
