the bolders you see are called "eratics". They were transported on top of the ice during the last iceage. When the ice melted the bolders were droped and have been there ever since. You will find that these bolders have a differant geologic composition then the rock in the area where you find them.
those boulders had not entirely been tranported supraclacially... as many are well rounded ... hence, geomorphologically speaking, transport must be assumed subglacially as well as by massive fluvial transport underneath and in front of glaciation
Thank you for visiting my country🇳🇴🏍 Hope to see you soon again, it has been so inspiring to follow the two of you along your trip through Norway. I live close to the Atlantic road that you also visited😊
Hi Jan, it was our pleasure to visit Norway. We loved everything about Norway and as soon as we left we hoped to return again soon. A very special country with spectacular landscapes. beautiful towns and cities and really friendly welcoming people. We will return again for sure and there is so much we didn't see. You live in a wonderful place. Thanks for following our journey. 😎👍
Really enjoying these in between the Indian ones! Fab scenery and I love those wooden huts. We laughed at the sauna incident, I can just imagine how embarrassing that must have been😅
Thanks Ruud! Glad you liked it. It was indeed a relaxing ride -perfect for soaking up the area. By the way that's a great looking sidecar conversion you have there! 😎👍
I recognized the cabin in the end and I think I saw the next video from this one about a month ago, as it was randomly recommended to me on UA-cam. I then started from your first video and now I just have to catch up to your latest video 😅 Thanks for documenting your journeys, I've really enjoyed watching you two.
Hi Tommy, thanks for your comment! We hope you had an incredible ride the the North Cape -it's one that we will never forget! Thanks for watching and we hope to hear form you again. Sean and Emily
Hehehe yeah we had a good laugh about that too (i guess the people in the sauna did too) Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comment! Sean and Emily
Thanks for fantastic videos from my home country. For your information, we do not have sea lions in Norway, but we have different types of seals, especially in northern Norway. Some of them can be quite big. Occasionally, you might also see a walrus, but they live mostly further north.
Hi Trond, ahhh that's good to know -he was a big one for sure! .......must be all that fish available he's had plenty to eat. Wow had no idea we could have seen walrus in the area that would have been awesome -we would love to come back in the right season and spend some more time watching the wildlife. Thanks for commenting and we hope you have enjoyed the series. All the best Sean and Emily
Nice video and stories ;-) As for the reindeer, there are no wild reindeer in northern Norway, they are all tame and belongs to the Sami people. I think it is the same in Finland and Sweden. There are wild reindeer in Norway, but they are in the south, to the south of Trondheim. The reindeer around Røros are also tame. I love this area, I've been there many times.
Thanks John, we are really glad you are enjoying them and thanks for your comment! Thanks for the information! -it's nice to see that even though they are not wild they do get to roam about freely. It's a really beautiful area indeed and we have really enjoyed touring around Norway. Thanks for watching and it's nice to hear from you. Sean and Emily
Northern Norway has a special place in my heart. I would never live that north because I would get crazy in the darkness in the winter. But those views are somehow relaxing and make me some kind of desire of visiting the area again and again.
Yeas us too now! As you say it's such a special place indeed and it was very emotional reaching the top of Norway. It must be really difficult with the darkness in winter! but the Midnight sun in the summer must also be strange, we were a little bit too late to experience it this time. Hopefully we will return again soon.
Another beautiful video it makes u wonder all the little houses out there in middle of no where what they do for a living love the wildlife you guys are seeing so cool
Hi Jeff! Actually we had a conversation about that exact thing and we concluded they where either in the fishing business or that they were holiday homes. The wildlife is amazing -should have brought a bigger lense for the camera or at least a pair of binoculars. Thanks for commenting Sean and Emily
Ahh good to see the National Trust is alive a well in Nordkapp, we have them here at the Giants Causeway ripping tourists off , when the rocks are free, they have been in court and are still at it. Very inspiring vlogs keep them coming. Robert & Carolyn, and Ellie.
they used to charge a LOT for parking at nordkapp but the goverment shut that down because they deem nature to be the property of the norwegian people and you shuldnt have to pay to enjoy it..... hence the insane entry fee to the visitor centre because that is a "service" 🤣
Hi Robert & Carolyn, and Ellie! I didn't know that about the Giants Causeway (hopefully heading there next year on 'Heading West Tour') Fortunately people can go into the visitors center to go to the café and gift shop but it's just the museum/exhibition that costs -which in our view was not worth it. Although we are happy to support the upkeep of the road and sight though. Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging comments! Sean and Emily
Thanks George! Comments like this are very encouraging so thank you very much. If you ever want more information about our travels or are interested in some photos his can be found on our website. Thanks for watching Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
When you asked about those boulders, you had already driven past some kilometers from thos most famous boulders, those Troll boulders. There was a sign at the road to a place called Trollholmsund, you should have stopped there to get an explanation about those troll boulders.
Hi, i believe it's a bit of a hike to the Trollholmsundin, and if you had seen the previous episode we had had only 4 hours sleep the night before so were a bit tired and had some distance to cover that day hence we didn't stop to see them. We we more interested in how the big rocks by the beach got there, apparently they were deposited by glaciers.
Great blog guys, beautiful views . I n Sweden band Finland it quite normal for being naked and mixed as you normally take a towel in to sit on, poor Emily😂. I have a sauna in my new home in Porjus by the river.🇸🇪🏍👍
Thanks Philip! Yeah we have a sauna culture the same in Switzerland however i just thought it was empty so got a shock when it was full lol 😂😂 Oh that must be nice to have a sauna at your own home!! Must be a lovely place to live. Thanks for your comment. Sean and Emily
Fantastic episode guys! Your story made me laugh Emily, I can just imagine the shock on your face lol 😂😂😂😂 I think I’ve missed a couple of episodes so I will have to check the playlist!
Hi Emily and Sean. Another fantastic video experience with you. Norway is so special in terms of Western Norway with its high mountains, fjords and waterfalls. Northern Norway with its pointed mountains straight down into the sea and not least reindeer that is everywhere. You really got to experience Norway. I have a question for Emily, how is holding the camera when you guys are driving and do you feel safe holding on with one hand? It must then hurt your arm over time, and you really manage to hold the camera so steady. Fantastic job Emily, and not least Sean who drives safely on Norwegian roads. Good trip onward to Finland
Hi Trond, Thanks so much for your continued support and encouragement! Yeah the contrast in landscape and wildlife in Norway is spectacular and makes for a fantastic adventure! Even though we saw a lot we left feeling that there was so much more to discover. Emily does a great job of holding the camera, she uses the Go pole and yeah at the start of the trip Em's arm does start to get tired towards the end of the day! But she has found found some good techniques for wedging the camera pole into the seat to help with the strain. Thanks, it's important to respect the countries that we travel in and be sure to go at a pace that lets us truly take in the scenery whilst being as safe as can be (going to a race track every now and then is good to get the fast riding done lol) If you are interested in what equipment we use it can be found on our website as well as map of our tours, photography and our shop. Wonderful and inspiring video as always! You are such a pleasant couple, and your enthusiasm for traveling and exploring new places is very admirable. I'm really looking forward to the next episode, when you enter my home country and your comments about its nature, forests, lakes etc. By the way, what are your thoughts about the new R1300GS, your next bike perhaps? 😄 Kind regards from Finland, Risto
Hi Risto, Thanks ever so much for your kind and encouraging words! We truly have had an amazing time and have enjoyed every minute of it. We have some great times in Finland (as you will see in the next few episodes). We haven't tested the new R1300 yet but from what i hear it's a great bike with more improvements. It does however feel smaller than i had hoped but perhaps the adventure version will be more what i hoped for. But for now we are so happy with shadow that the thought of replacing him has not entered our minds 😊 Thanks again for commenting and we hope to hear from you again about our Finland Videos. I'm guessing that what you saw towards Nordkapp were seals. On the ferry to Lofoten my guess is harbour porpoise. At sea further out you may encounter "springer" which is a kind of dolphin as far as I know. Cheers:)😅
Hi Rune, thanks for the information! It's hard to identify anything when we only see them for a few seconds so we appreciate your knowledge 😊 We hope you have enjoyed the series so far and thanks for watching. Sean and Emily
@@SeanandEmily Hi Sean and Emily, thank you for keeping in touch. No offense I just thought it would be interesting to know. The porpoises are common in the Norwegian fjords. Yes really interesting thanks Rune 😊 Wow yeah on a kayak it must be a very personnel experience with wildlife. We are so happy to hear you enjoy watching our videos and we are happy to have you along for the journey. Sean and Emily
Don't worry about the sauna experience, people here have a different view of nudity and I'm sure they appreciated the attention! Just wait til you see the Finns, they are really into their saunas! Safe journey!
Hey Matt, no problem with the Sauna culture (we have the same in Switzerland) it was just i thought it was empty lol and it scared the heck out of me when i put the light on lol 😂 😂 Thanks! We hope you enjoy the next part of the Journey. Cheers Sean and Emily
@kristoferolsson heheh yeah i think they had a good laugh about it, wondering what i was doing and then the shock on my face when turning the light on lol 😂😂
No worries Emily. If you have no reservations about being naked in an unfamiliar sauna, in a foreign country, like these men were, then chances are good that it was all taken in stride. I wouldn't give it another thought. I'm sure they've had a good laugh about it.
