Along the lines of "who else is going" . I hate it when I ask my teens if they'll be home for dinner and they ask me what I'm making. Basically saying, I don't know if your cooking is worthy to touch my taste buds. I take it as a personal insult.
I see where John is coming from w/giving direct answers & not beating around the bush but a couple questions when invited to something isn’t unreasonable. Now several questions then still no direct answer?.. I’m out. I do think John is a bit abrasive w/that.
My son (high schooler) was invited to a bday party & so was his friend but he knew the friend would need a ride. Well the friend lives kinda far but I told my son I’d give him a ride. So he texts the friend to see if he wants to go but instead of just saying he didn’t wanna go he kept asking questions & saying “are you sure your mom wants to do all that driving?” Right away my son said never mind mom he’s dropping hints he doesn’t wanna go. I’m like why doesn’t he just say that? My sons like exactly. So yeah in those instances it doesn’t make sense. Don’t have to make excuses .. just say no. But I don’t think asking what time something starts is unreasonable. That’s a relevant question that can determine if someone can go.

I was on a narrow street by the beach & pulled over to let a car going the opposite direction through .. we were both at a stand still then the girl (most likely high school/college age) frantically started waving at me to go so I’m like ok.. started going past her & she flipped me off so I smiled & gave her a peace sign. Lol. Can’t win even when you’re trying to be nice. Also my husband has a train horn on his truck he uses when ppl are being stupid & almost hit him. 😅
John touched his nose a lot. Hmmm. Anyone for a Dr. Pepper or a “Coke”. Just kidding. Really. I’m just kidding.
