FYI: The tank does have a manual chaff toggle but as you can see by how surprised I was it was entirely the APS that launched the chaffs, the system is still fairly unreliable and slow but it is very easy to see that the second missile was deterred by the chaff.
Hey chief, I’m a weapons developer for Stormworks I recommend using 2 radar detectors on an and gate, it’ll detect a missile launch in 4 ticks or a detection time of 0.06 seconds
for people who dont understand the pain to make systems like this may be confused by how much of an achievement this is, making an aps system not shoot missiles that wont hit you is actually too hard, i applaud this amazing creation, hoping to see some more cool stuff from you!
Its not amazingly functional at the moment, but its fairly simple and uses a combination of a radar detector to detect if the tank is being locked on to (if there is no radar detected the chaffs wouldn't do anything anyway) and a missile radar, which I have found is the most sensitive radar and picks up the missile within a certain distance of the tank. If both the missile radar detects an incoming missile and the radar detector is locked on to, it will launch a chaff.
@@pattyindustries I see an issue with that if the munition you are defending from has a semi active radar or is guided via a different system the APS wont activate. Im not sure what would work instead of that though.

Its litteraly just a radar detector connected to a delay and then connected to the chaff too simple

Hmm, seems interesting. I should probably incorporate auto chaff into my Hard Kill aps “Iron Fist”
It could be good just in case the hard kill fails as a back up

the missiles just missed you the active protection didn't fire until the missile was past the tank

Not directly, the chaff distracts the missile causing it to miss the tank
