- deer hunter cavatina scene
the scene that incarnates to an amazing extent that heavy viscous feeling when i used to return home on short military leaves .. that hideous dark feeling of being lonely, odd, grotesque and far apart from everything and everybody ..
can't blend in ..
don't want to blend in ..
everyone seems like a mere stranger no matter how close he really is ..
not mentioning the lost childhood friendships ..
not mentioning a lost love ..
rowing in the nile alone in a small boat till dawn used to be some sort of a remedy .. passing under the dark high bridges .. imagining naively that they might be the last agony castles that holds me under !
Oh, man how I love this scene: no special effects, no explosions, no profanity; just anguish and soul searching.
GOD BLES OUR SOLDIERS
How did he not win the Oscar that year. A truly great actor at his peak
For me, this was one of the most powerful scenes of the movie
my all time favorite movie... next to taxi driver...one of the greatest actor in this planet...
One of my favorite songs from a film and one of my favorite senses. The music was tender and perfect for this moving scene.
Beautiful melancholy song. The fragility of life is being played on the strings.
Probably De Niro's finest hour. Of which there have been many.
@Syntax געש׳דער
One of my all-time favorite De Niro movies. His emotions run the gammit from serious, to soulful, protective, to finally coming to terms with the deer on the last hunting trip. Great music score.
Certainly not of late
Great actor! So handsome too!
What a sublime acting, what an on point song accompanying it.
I was watching this movie while I was on duty and everyone else was on post deployment leave, damn near cried when I saw this scene.
Beautiful scene - the agony of ordinary life after terrible trauma.
What a great movie and a great actor. Love that movie
This piece of music moves one's soul. I hear it and I cry, every single time, as I cry now. It was DeNiro's finest hour - it was everyone's finest hour in the movie. The movie destroys me every time I watch it. It is one of the best movies ever made.
I watch it about every 2 months, it reminds me of my best friend who I knew since the end of 8th grade. We went to High School together and both went to serve our country. He took his life 2 years ago, at the age of 25. I love how raw and in depth every single scene and character is. From having someone so close they're like a brother to you, to serving your country and to losing someone who took his own life, when I found this movie I had no idea what ride I was in for. It is my all time favorite. I think everyone should watch this movie. This scene in particular, I relate to it so much. I often feel overwhelmed with life and the hustle and bustle. When I finally get home, and unwind, it's hard to do so because so much is on your mind. You feel so exhausted. Whenever I miss my bestfriend, I watch this movie. He was always so well read and very intelligent. I always wonder if he ever watched this movie. I'll never know. Bittersweet for sure.
@@realAAron124 Thank you for your service. I am sorry for the loss of your friend.
Christopher Walken won best supporting actor.. what a film & what a tune..
Without a doubt, the best movie made about the Vietnam war.
@@realAAron124sorry for your loss, sir. Thank you for your bravery and service. Look after yourself.
This movie was so well acted, great actors great scene s that required the intense of emotion what more can you ask for. These days people don't pay any attension to these older movies, but this movie is as real as it gets.
Oscars in general are a joke but how .de Niro didn't get one for this is baffling, amazing performance
Studio politics...nothing more :)
PTSD of epic proportions.
Absolutely brilliant music and the film was awesome xx
One of the best movies of all time acting at its best
I cried when I first saw this masterpiece and watching this clip …I’m crying again …probably the powerful piece of cinema ever made.
The best film ever and the music
De Niro should still get an oscar for this film back dated ❤
While I do like seeing it in black and white. Thank you for that. Nice. The color of that military uniform green is pretty nice too. Great to see two versions.
One of the best movie of all time 🦌
The effects of love ,war and loss played brilliantly by De Niro .
I simply adore this scene its a masterpiece music acting everything about it
Ooh I love this man he is my fav actor and I love him
This has to be my favorite Robert De Niro film and performance ever. Not saying Casino and Goodfellas was bad far from it but.. maybe somehow the emotions hit me in Deer Hunter im not so sure.. especially the ending.. that Russian Roulette scene hits hard. I can see it all and I felt it.. it never leaves me.. its so powerful you can't escape it..
Meryl is a true giant
Favourite scene
My favourite scene also and yet no dialogue just the amazing soundtrack from John Williams and the great acting of De Niro.
Legs bent, the back pressed against the wall- "cocooning", a protective instinct.
"Here's to Nick"......
PTSD I think is similar to C-PTSD in its outward expression of trauma; a long prolonged series of increasingly intolerable events.
Sending love, positive energy and friendship to anyone out there affected by either of these…💙🌍❤️🌎💙🌏❤️

Simple, but, Great scene !
Amazing
Un grande films👏👏👏👏👏
God has blessed us with Robert De Niro. In less than a minute he sums up what many war veterans struggle with in returning home with everything pounding in their brain.
With you there my good friend
One of the best & real Lifestyle of coming back home....
Great movie, wonderful soundtrack.. Classic

Um filme impressionante!
How many men and women came home to suffer in silent agony about their expectancies and the lose of their mates???
The pity is that it's so true too.
Damn good movie!!!!

That music and that scene just tore me up 😭
E inolvidable
Heartbreaking 😭
A movie not well appreciated or understood like the time it was based on. We may not like the actors now for their views but this is still a visceral and beautiful expression of humanity through horror.
WHAT DO THEIR VIEWS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? I APPLAUD DE NIRO FOR HIS COMMENTS ON TRUMP.......AND I DESPISE ANYONE WHO HATES HIM FOR IT. ESPECIALLY FELLOW ITALIANS.
@@jimmeale3218 good for you
@@hopswordusmc6973 YEAH. GOOD FOR ME
@@jimmeale3218 very divisive

An empty room. A lonely actor.
And suddenky the room is plenty of sense.
Cavatina....first composed in 1970 by Stanley Myers for the British film: The Walking Stick :-) you're welcome
Mo scuso profondamente....avevo tolto l',audio......fa troppo caldo
War is hell!

He is so broken

Whether or not bloody kill depend on the humanity ?
So sad
So sad world.
he didnt care about his his friends welcoming him back home.
just wanted his buddies wife.
Great scene...the only thing that bothers me is the facial hair on Deniros character...as an Army veteran I'm quite sure he wouldn't be returning stateside with a full goatee
I agree and I'll go further: The whole movie is just outstandingly bad, to anybody who lived through the events of the time. I mean the whole story just doesn't have any link to reality. As a tour of emotions or maybe as a dream it makes sense, but as a coherent story about things that happened or that maybe even might have happened, it's so fantastic, over-the-top, and just plain divorced from reality that it stinks. Everybody goes on about how it's a masterpiece, to me it's like some UCLA film student project put together by an 18 year old with no experience of the real world.
I believe it adds a to his disenchantment with the war he so valiantly set out to fight and what the reality of that war really was. Sheer hell.
Unless he was the pioneers sgt
Bothers the hell out of me too and he's wearing a green beret with 101st unit patch on his left arm. Splain that.
@@mikewhiskey5455 look again...he is wearing the Special Forces patch on his right shoulder....which would be the overseas side
I love the acting of both of those stars to death. I just can't stand their politics.
I have to agree with you. I like Robert DiNiro as an actor, I don't like him as a political person. But, I can look past his politics and appreciate him as a great actor. I don't have to like 100% of him to appreciate him as a great actor.
One of my favorites. Returning from the Vietnam era serving with the 82nd, 5th SF and 7th Inf till '78 my job was that of patrolling the jungles completing missions and returning home all mixed up amid the conflicts of young democrats. My favorite actor turning against the republican machine of Trump told me he was definitely no soldier. So disappointing.
