Why am I seeing so many likes and wows and greats in the comments?!? There is no way a Cobra won't want to defend itself. It is so obvious that their teeth are broken so they cannot bite, the only reason they barely bite the children is because they have given up on biting because they know it won't work. No matter what people say, whether the snake promised them their trust or not, it is still illegal in both India and Pakistan to take animals from the wild to keep as pets. So in any condition, what they are doing is illegal. I understand that they have nothing else to do to gain money and feed the family, but whatever it is, it is still illegal. Snake charming might be an ancient tradition, but the path it has followed in any manner is wrong. Even I as a child always wondered how did the charmers not get bitten, I really thought they had hypnotized the snake, but only last year did I find out the cruel tradition both countries have been following, and that the snakes were only moving with the flute to make sure it didn't strike them, but they do get mesmerized by the flute, not because of the music(all snakes are deaf) but because of the movement of the flute and the steps of the charmer(given if they are dancing or walking around it or not). Besides snakes can't even drink milk and stuff, even if they can, their bodies are not designed to digest milk, only live or dead animals! This is really a big shame for me as an animal lover to witness.
But I have heard that they can hear vibrations emitting from this instrument ( I dunno what it's called) either way I feel bad for the cobra to be used by humans for their entertainment that too on the cost of getting their teeth removed..
