My K4b also has the composite resin gear. It had two washers on the bottom and another on top, which looked like it was cut out by hand. I'm not sure why that was done. The assembly was very stiff. I removed the top washer and put the the two remaining washers, one on top; one on the bottom, and that freed up the gear.
I am not sure why that was, perhaps it was replaced previously, and whoever worked on it thought it needed an extra washer? Always interesting what you find inside these old machines!
Thanks for another great video!
Are you accepting mixers now?
Hi Chelcie, not yet , hopefully soon! I will post it on the facebook page, and also with a video on this channel. Thanks!
Help - I just fully reassembled a K5-A and am stuck at basically the last step of adjusting the speed control plate. I don't understand how the speed control link is suppose to connect to the speed control plate at the bottom. At 7:48 into the video you pop a "spring" loose with the screwdriver. is that the sheet metal piece that's connected with the screw/nut on the plate?
It's called a dough hook. :-)
Thank you Patti! :)
