Queen did such a masterful job writing a thrash song like 10 years pre thrash, that I have always assumed Metallica wrote it and Queen later covered it. It never even occurred to me that this could be a Queen original. Those dudes were so diverse. Writing a song that fits a band this different from them is a real accomplishment. They were and still are magic. So is Metallica. They had a rough patch on their St. Anger days, but I'm convinced they are great again. Long live Metallica and Queen.
Queen invented thrash IMHO, and can pull off all sorts of genres! Listen to Stone Cold Crazy and the Crazy Little Thing Called Love and tell me you aren't impressed!
This cover introduced me to the original song way back in the day, and I still kind of prefer it. It's always been more of a Metallica song than a Queen song to me, despite Sheer Heart Attack later becoming my favorite Queen album after I realized they were more than the singles I had heard on the radio (and were in fact fucking incredible!).
This is one of my favorite songs on planet earth. I don't care who'd does it. Metallica took it and added there own kinda stank on it. James Hetfields voice makes the song in my opinion. But queen came up with this song. That's why queen will always one of the best!!!
Blew my mind today when I found out that Queen originated this song and that Metallica sang it as a cover lol shit Queen well Freddy Mercury sang it just as fast lol wow mind blow hahaha!!
Kirk is not better that Brian May, and vice versa as well. Their style of guitar is so much different. You may like one more than the other, but one isn't exactly better by any stretch. I personally like Brian May more, but Kirk is pretty badass when it comes to the shredding.
Cameron Reyno .... Hammet hits a foul note in almost every lead he plays and his slowhand is atrocious cuz his finger vibrato ain't that good .... sry man ... just sayin' ...
well. amongst fan of Queen (including all of metallica's members) they did have done a good job in this version and the garage inc ver. but goshdarned, why is metallica goes lazy and lazier with their cover over the years? even Queen did so with the recent Q+ adam's performance in bangkok! respectfully wanted to slap Guitar Queen and Siren Queen to plays it like that. >:(
I think They both suck. I've been on tour with both of these acts and I've played with guitarist like Hank Shermann and Andy LaRocque who are in another stratosphere
@@epaulallen7 but Brian May is the only guitarist for Queen and the other guitar parts for lets say hammer to fall are played by spike edney on a different guitar
i just cannot fathom it i listened to this right after the original and teh original sounds heavy, i noticed this doesnt have the layerd vocals but thats not why, ah well theyre both good
You're right, it was on the disc of Garage Inc that was the collection of b-sides and singles from their previous albums. So I guess we're both right? Cheers, and have a Heineken with me, it's what young James would want.
This is the first song i ever heard when i was 4. we had a giant cassette/radio/turntable stereo system one of them glass cabinets you know? some killer headphones to go with it. its no wonder i cant hear well because i used to just sit there head bang and blast this shit. I didn't know anything about genres of music but this song was metal as fuck and that's all i cared about.
He wasn't being sarcastic, he just said that Lars drumming is dumbed down from the original. If he was being sarcastic he would've been saying that Lars wasn't dumbed down.
I love both bands, but Roger has always been a far superior drummer than Lars. Lars, at least these days, all he does is double bass, which I find annoying. He's the most overrated drummer ever!
I don't agree with people who say which one's better... I mean, for example: Metallica is my favorite band. Their version, in my words, is better. But Queen's kicks ass!!! so... it is just about the way is played... I'm with you "capnstoopid"
Lot of hate in the comments for Metallica and Lars in particular. What good does it do? I love 70s Queen with a passion, but I'm not going to shit on Metallica for covering it. It just shows that they love Queen too, and want to share that love with their fans. I respect that.
not really. it was my night off from work and i felt like having an argument to vent some stress from the day at work. appreciate the opportunity you presented as well as the help with my psych report.
In my opinion any song Metallica covered came out better than the original. Most bands butcher a song when they cover it. Quite frankly, all bands with exception of Metallica , should leave it to the original artist and write there own . I’m living in a brain dead society, a copy cat culture. Where’s the creative man we use to be.
one does not simply say which version is better, wanna know why?i'll tell you a secret, people actually have different opinions, how crazy is that, i like both, prefer metallica's because it's heavier and i like heavier music
Had a tape, and this song was on one side. Think it was a solo tape, with one song per side, was back in the 80's. Like the Walking down the street, shooting people down to meat, fully loaded tommy gun part. I like walking in the woods, dueling banjos, and rope. Wanna dance?
um, they both were metal bands. well at least when Queen goes metal. so the comparison were warranted. love metallica and with the respect of fellow Queen's fans, with this lazy cover, metallica had it coming
Someone please explain to me why this isn't on some sort of Album? Fucking kick ass Version of my Favorite Queen song. I grew up listening to 2 bands when i was a kid. Number 1 in my House hold is Led Zeppelin, 2 was Queen, Always playing, when my dad played Stone Cold Crazy i was like......YEAH! there is tape of my air guitaring somewhere at my moms. Fuck yeah! surprised this isn't covered by more bands, Even Queens version was kickin'!
Freddie&james hetfield together = a dream thing that never came true :( Rest in peace freddie ! u need to be in heaven not in Hell Queen is great band metallica is the best :)
It's a great cover, of an awesome song, where the original is nearly impossible to beat! Just like Faith No More's cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs. However, few artists have been able to, one up, the originals such as; Disturbed - Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel or Headstones - Tweeter and the Monkey Man by The Travelling Wilbury's
Queen did such a masterful job writing a thrash song like 10 years pre thrash, that I have always assumed Metallica wrote it and Queen later covered it. couldnt agree more. although, i didnt think St. Anger was *that* bad, but it is certainly their lowest point.
You're spot on. Queen were diverse and versatile. They did a lot of different styles of music. That's why they're one of my top 3 favorite bands.
nice jax pfp
Queen invented thrash IMHO, and can pull off all sorts of genres! Listen to Stone Cold Crazy and the Crazy Little Thing Called Love and tell me you aren't impressed!
Another great cover by Metallica. Other bands might have ruined a Queen classic but they nailed it.
Freddie is still top though.
A Person This cover is garbage what are you talking about..?
Pink Floyd is the Best Band of All Time.
It's not my most favourite cover but I dig it. Everyone's entitled to their oppinion.
Pink Floyd is the Best Band of All Time. Queen is the Best Band of All Time. Floyd is 2nd ;)
NakkisPekkis
I agree. Queen are they greatest band. Freddie is my lord. I was simply admiring Metallicas cover.
A Person i was just joking about yt name of that another guy :D but yes queen is bestest
as a Queen fan and a music fan in general, this is a great cover
Both Queen & Metallica are awesome. Great cover by Metallica, I enjoy them both equally in their own ways.
Just found out today this was a queen song. I’m amazed and amused. Makes me enjoy this cover that much more.
One of the best Queen songs covered by Metallica? The levels of awesomeness can not be counted on normal scales alone.
Now THAT's how you cover a song!

I love Queen and Metallica. But I believe the Queen version is better. Although this is a better metal song I still prefer the original.
Definitely. The drumwork is way better in the original.
+Digger Nick of course it is.
Thats because Lars is a shit drummer
Blew my mind today when I found out that Queen originated this song and that Metallica sang it as a cover lol shit Queen well Freddy Mercury sang it just as fast lol wow mind blow hahaha!!
Who doesnt love Queen there the best band i know
They’re
They say this is first thrash metal song , Queenn's version, offcourse
I don't know how about you, but, coming from a fan of both bands, I am surely glad I can say that both versions are equally awesome in their own ways.
lol that logo looks like a Pokeball
xD
Pepsi
"Some kind of Pokemon"
"Stone cold pokeball ah"
WarheadTV lmao
My head was struck in a blender of awsomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see where the Hit the Lights solo interlude riff comes from
Stone cold crazy came out in 1998 and Hit the lights came out in 1983
@@evanhoing2212 Stone Cold Crazy came out in 1974 xD
Queen forever! Nice cover though. Metallica is great too.
Queen covered the sons as well
the first thrash metal song in the history...along with the symptom of the universe and Ogre Battle
I think both the cover and the original are kickass!

Ahhh great memories!❤😊😮
awesome cover...metallica!!!!!
That is really nice that Metallic plays this one.
My two favorite bands
best cover i ever heard
stone cold crazy
I love Freddie and I prefer his perfect voice, but this cover is really awesome!!
Not bad at all. As a loyal Queen fan, I approve :) Metallica is awesome
Original may be better.. but this one's way crazier. Which is why I like it better 😅
I love this song
It fits Metallica nicely, glad they covered it. Sheer Heart Attack is another good Queen song for you speed heads.
I personally prefer Queen's sound for Stone Cold Crazy, but both are good since the style is just so different.
Muy versátiles, atrevidos y saben evolucionar.buena banda.
if you’re still listening to this in 2021 you’re a legend
Why do people keep compareing them? Obviously it’s not going to sound like Queen. It’s Metallica just having fun playing a song they like.
Wow, awesome picture
Wooow great version!!
Queen for life and Metallica agrees
I love how James is able to sing it the way Freddie did.
+Jamz Hatefeel HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH, sure he sang it like Freddie (not) its still a pretty good cover tho
*applauses* Reply of the year!
Hahaa hadn't heard this before. Metallica's awesome, man!
Queen is better but this is also good. Brian May does this song way better than Kirk Hammett.
+211Appolo tbh i prefer freddy vocals and group vocals and stuff
I cant Wait to see them June 7th
exactly, i think that we all should learn that music taste is a very hard subjecti to discuss on because people have different tastes
The queen version is better, but the speed of this, is a lovely compliment to the awesomeness of queen!!!
seems so metal and they didnt change a thing from the original, Queen were so rock metal!!!
huh. thats pretty cool ill have to go look that over again.
damn, that sounds just awesome! sweet cover!

Forever Queen
That moment when you can listen to Queen AND Metallica at the same time.
original is better but this is a great cover
Agreed
Metal from Queen to oi
This is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the original!
Man, does this song lend itself to hard rock or what? Awesome cover
I like how they dumbed down the drum chart for Lars.
+Shewb Ikr
you were being sarcastic arent you? please tell me you did? because Lars is horrible, i say that with respect between fellow Queen subject
He wasn't being sarcastic, he just said that Lars drumming is dumbed down from the original. If he was being sarcastic he would've been saying that Lars wasn't dumbed down.
He was sarcastic about the "liking it" :)

I LOVE THIS DAMN COVER LIKE WOW BUT THE ORIGINAL IS STILL THE BEST
I just had to say this is probably the coolest! name or title to a rock song I've ever heard , 1st x seeing it 😂 LMAO!!!!!!
this is a great song. queen was great, but Metallica took it to another level. they both rock.
James actually had solid vocals for this.
what do you mean "actually?"
I like the Freddie Mercury vocals a little more, but both versions are AWESOME!!!
Just as good a queen

How about "both guys are great at what they do." Two different styles with May and Hammett. To say one is better than the other disrespects the art.

Queen was never a metal band. Progressive rock band. Please do not type "um", you are not in front of me talking. Hate that.

have you ever listened to one of their songs in "jazz" album
