Any road is the best George song ever every time i play it along with the video of george i get the sense of pure bliss and happiness he died right around the time i was born we miss u George RIP!
Stuck inside a cloud is such an earworm. That song got stuck in my head the first time I heard it and never left. It has that typical Harrison longing feeling, pretty melody, thought provoking lyrics, and that oh so catchy guitar work...
Marwa blues sounds pretty useful for relaxing and studying too. Might listen to that in the near future. And as for certain posthumous albums, sometimes I find it hard to listen to them because if the dead musician played an instrument in their lifetime, I don't know if it's from them or from someone else. For example: On Jimi Hendrix's posthumous albums, I can't tell if his guitar solos are his or they were just added in. If they were the latter, I'd try to avoid them.
I too bought this album when it was first released. I actually love the track “Brainwashed”. It is somehow cathartic to me and I love the ELO-ness of the chorus of “Brainwashed” after every line. Definitely a “gold fish” for me. Tasty especially when eaten with chopsticks!
I love this album. It's a fond look back at a life well lived, a searing insight into George's devasting illness and imminent passing, and a final prescient statement on the desperate worsening state of humanity. As I think about it, I'm heartbroken that John was denied the opportunity to make a final definitive contribution along these lines. 10 out of 10 for Brainwashed. It's the final bookend to George's solo career three decades after the magnificent first bookend ATMP.
Brainwashed and all things must pass are my favorite George albums and I think his best. Never Get Over you sits alongside Something for me as his great love songs, classic George time signature change in the bridge. I love all the tracks tho. You are so right about the slide guitar parts in stuck inside a cloud providing comfort to the sad song. Almost as George is saying “Oh, well.”
I love this album. One of the best in his career, although I "Prices Fish," "Looking For My Life," "Run So Far," and "Rocking Chair in Hawaii," could have been cut to make this a shorter more condensed album. Oh yes, and "Marwa Blues" is epic. What a great song to end his life on.
I absolutely love this album, Marwa Blues is an amazing instrumental and I wish he did more instrumentals. I ended up liking every track. It’s definitely the 3rd best album imo.
It's a great album, but it's not his best. Had he lived to finish it the way he wanted, it would have been amazing. Jeff went a bit too...well...Jeff Lynne on it in places which was not what George said he wanted. By all accounts, he was going for something more rough and raw sounding so it'd be interesting to hear some of it remixed to reflect that.
I think the album is pretty amazing already. George's vocals aren't as strong as we knew and loved on Horse To Water. I think it was recorded near the end. I'm glad it was left off. I made a point of buying the Jools Holland record the song is on.
I want to say Paul is next but it’s been 2 or 3 years since this video and his discography is too long and complicated with Wings, Firemen and the classical works, his dozen live albums… That would be an absolute MARATHON for you…Maybe John would be easier…or Ringo..
I listened to this album today for the first time and it didn't really struck me. I think it lacks (in some kind of black humor thing) a soul. For example in "rocking chair in heaven" i would love if clapton was in it singing with his buddy. I think it lacks (for me) the human connection that comes out when you play with someone else P.s. i would pay to see the tedeschi trucks band make a cover of brainwashed
Good assessment, but I think not having a soul is the last thing I'd say about the album. Songs like "Stuck Inside a Cloud" or "Pisces Fish" are definitely George looking inward and expressing his views of his illness. But I do know what you mean about the execution of the album. It would have been fun to have his buddies like Eric and Tom Petty sit in, but I don't think that's really what George wanted the album to be. It was his final wish.
@@patrickisback_ As I said I bought this album when it was brand new and George's passing was still in my mind, so I definitely had an emotional connection to it. It's not for everyone, hence why I couldn't give it a goldfish.
I used a lyric from “Any Road” as my senior quote, it has always been one of my sentimental favorites
Which one?
Rest in peace, George.

Love this album. Top 3 George albums for me.
That was the first George album I bought and I love it. It is really bittersweet.
Thanx for a great playlist and greetings from Brazil.
Rising Sun. My favourite of this album. For sure
Top 3 George album for me, with 33&⅓ & the self-titled.

Marwa blues is an incredible song and so is brainwashed
Thanks for this Deere’s it is great thank you 🙏.
I went to Mr. CD store and bought that album in CD when it was released, but it's weird that it didn't have any booblet with lyrics inside.

Adding "Horse To the Water", the last song George recorded, would have made this a much stronger album!
I think the album is pretty amazing already.

Brilliant album George to me was a better song writer than Lennon or Mc Cartney.
Why does Todd sound like Jim from nostalgia critic?
Marwa Blues such a sad song.
