I'm such a 🤓 haha
I wonder if he 'nutted'
@@BayAreaBFSno you're a Chad, gentleman and a scholar
I have the 2021 Calcutta 100hg and it's an absolute monster for a little tiny reel. It's over-engineered and worth every penny.
Shimano makes incredible reels, right?
I am a huge fan of Shimano. I just got a couple new ones. Really appreciate the share on this one. That is an awesome baitcaster.
Thank you! Shimano's attention to detail is top-notch
Hey, so since you have the Calcutta and the nako cormorant. Can you give me a honesty review between those two? I been debating between those reels. I am looking for my first high end reel that is great for multi-species fishing, mainly panfish, bass (black&white species), walleye, and the occasional rainbow trout season. I would love to have the option to cast lighter lures but I mainly go around 1/32-1/4 most of the time if not 1/16-1/4 oz lures. Which would you take out most of the time between the cormorant and Calcutta for these specifications?
Hey brother. I own 6 Aldebaran BFS reels, 1 Calcutta Conquest BFS, and a bunch of CDM BFS reels. I can easily say my workhorse is the Cormorant. I have no affiliation with Nako. Just the average consumer. The Cormorant is very similar in every way to the Aldebaran. But, a little more forgiving when switching lures of different weights. Don't get me wrong, I love my Shimano reels too. Between the Aldebaran & CQ, I prefer the Alde due to the lower profile and weight. Hope this helps! 👍
That's just a sick reel!
So sick! And solid build!
Hi, how much smoother is the conquest compared to the aldebaran? Or are they the same in smoothness?
Honestly, they feel about the same in terms of smoothness. The Conquest does have a more substantial feel due to its metal body vs the Alde's plastic body. However, the sacrifice is heavier weight. I'm going to use the Conquest for bass fishing. It feels a lot more balanced on my Dobyns 701c and Old 18 Bouyancy. My Alde's will be my workhorse for all fish, including bass on my lighter rods
What size line are your looking to use?
I’m using 8lbs braid (0.6gou) line. Been switching off between various braids, mono, and flouro. I’m back to braid tho
I remember the first time I held a conquest, pretty much the exact reaction you had. They are truly works of art! You can just hold it and feel the quality. As far as the gear ratio goes 7.8 might seem like a fast reel but you have to also account for the spool diamater being much smaller than a normal reel (including the previous conquest bfs) most likely the 7.8 gear ratio of the 23 conquest has a very similar line pick up speed as the 6.8 17 conquest with its bigger diameter spool. Also I have a question. Can you see if you can put the 22 Aldebaran spool into the conquest? I want to see if I can use my avail spool for my aldebaran in the conquest and not have to be another spool. Thanks!
Thanks for the info! Will try the spool swap tomorrow and report back
@@BayAreaBFS thanks bro!
I wondered what the balance be like on the Old 18 Bouancy. Aldebarn 8.0 gear ratio is too high for me.
If I ever get my HG right hand reel I'll let you know. Still waiting to ship. But I'll trade it out with the aldebaran on there now and see how it is.
It's not as balanced as the Aldebaran 22 on the Bouyancy. It's not bad though. Not off-balanced
@Bay Area BFS I ordered one of the Dobyns SUF 650C ultra finesse rods that I planned on pairing it with. Of course I'm sure I'll play musical chairs for a while with the other rods. Thanks for sharing, this will be my first conquest, so I'm just guessing still.
Do you preferred this reel or the curado bfs?
@@Curlee187 I have my 17' Calcutta BFS on the Dobyns 650C. You going to love it! I also have the 691 which is a 1 power that's sweet too. The 22' Aldebaran is my choice for the 650C. It's just so light.
New here, Came for the reel, stayed for the peanuts.
😂
Plat is kinda expensive in price
In general, I agree. However, they had this at 10% discount with free shipping. It matched Digitaka's price.
@@BayAreaBFS Digitaka always give discount every two months, plus on top of that you get points for purchasing there items and use it towards discount as well, shipping is free in 3-4 days only, I ordered from plat once shipping took almost like forever
