Because it would be publicity and some other dumbass will offer actually more

That offer was an insult to the 1980's Madonna Day Planner Collecting Community.
He's probably mad that he paid way too much for it himself lol.
Bingo
If there was an explosive revelation inside, you could get many times the $25,000 he wanted for it.
There was an auction for this item back in 2008 for 8-9k. Maybe that really was him who bought it. He tried to sell it online for 21-22k, but no one bid. I saw another diary/planner of Madonna's priced around 2-4k, but I don't know anyone bought it either.
It was probably worth more at the time he bought it in 2008, but doesn't seem like it's worth that much now, even with inflation.
Honestly, the Pawn Shop would probably have had a hard time selling it if they bought it for 4k even by the auctions I'm seeing on Google.

I wouldn't exactly refer to Madonna's day planner as an "iconic" piece of rock 'n roll memorabilia. Madonna's cone shaped bra, that's iconic.
I know Rick said this before but just because something was owned by a celebrity doesn't mean it's necessarily valuable. I mean it's a neat little piece of history I guess but it's just a planner at the end of the day. Most Madonna collectors are gonna want an outfit/hat/shoes she wore in a music video or concert or a piece of her jewelry or something.
Madonna's cone shaped bra, that's conic!

I don't think my comment had anything to do with understanding the selling process. I just don't believe it most of the time when people use the "I've been offered more and turned it down" line. Madonna, a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee, (was one of the artists that was inducted the moment she became eligible, not even a year later.
She wasn’t even voted in. She was just inducted.)
She sold the most records of all time for a female, voted as the best performer in the 90s by Rolling Stone, is critically the most acclaimed woman of ALL TIME.
YES, she has co-written and co-produced most of her songs and YES she plays many instruments.
Yet people still try to downplay her with absolute lies.

You don’t understand how a pawn shop works. All it is about is investing money. If you pay 4K and the money is tied up for 1 years you have to make a lot on that 4K to be worth it that 4K could be used to buy a bunch of smaller items that are sold quickly so that 4K could have made a lot more money in that year time. The longer it takes to sell an item the more you need to make or it’s. It worth the investment.
