Everest of Gujarat : Girnar Hills : Older Than Sacred Himalayas

#Girnar , also known as Girinagar or Revatak Parvata, is a group of mountains in the Junagadh District of Gujarat, India, situated near Junagadh. Is considered older than the Himalayas, Girnar, the mountain and its range are considered sacred. It is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus , who gather here during the Girnar Parikrama festival. Later on some Jain temples were also built, some of which are very recent. Girnar is one of the five major ‘tirthas’ attributed to the ‘panch kalyanakas’ of various ‘Jain tirthankaras’. Girnar is also significant among Shiva devotees for the so-called “mystic space-time” of the mountain range, with the presence and turnover of different sects of Sadhu Babas, Nath sect and others. Flora and fauna fairs are also held at the mountains, such as the Maha Shivratri fair. Different Jain Tirthankaras and monks have in the past visited and practiced severe penance at the peaks of Girnar. It hosts a number of temples and some historical spots across its range. Amidst the lush green Gir Forest, the mountain range serves as the hub of religious activity.

I 'm from Junagadh and I have done Girnar Yatra thrice. The best time to climb Girnar is November - January lots of tourists come every year this time the main part of adventure is to climb the whole 10000 steps and not to take ropeway therefore you should start your journey to climb from 5-6 am so you can attend Maa amba aarti at 8 am on ambaji temple and reach at top by 10 am
And you will be return to downstairs about 1-2 pm.❤

Yesterday I visited girnar and started climbing at 3:45 and at 7 am we reached ambaji mandir and we were on the top at 8 am and went down by 11 am.... but I think descending is way harder than climbing 😅😅😂😅

Let me narrate my story, i was in 7th standard when i climbed girnar. My family and me started climbing at 4:am, at 12:00pm we reached ambaji. Mom and sister didn’t continue further. Dad and me went upto Dattatreya and then had prasad.
By 5:00pm exact we reached the bottom.
Best time to start climbing is in the early hours

Start the climb at 1-2am and reach Dattatreya top at around 7-8 am. Then enjoy sunrise and enjoy the climbdown in day time. This is best way to do Girnar yatra, I did it 5 times.
BTW, Girnar sidiyo pe jyadatar dhongi baba hi hote hai, darate dhamkate rehte hai. Unki mat suno, Girnar is safe in all weather condition. It's ok that you had train so you have to go back, otherwise don't turn around because of weather.

I would say - you really missed Datatrey temple and that mountain. I have climbed this Girnar parvat minimum 40 times. But yeah, jo hota hai acche ke liye hota hai.
We are locals so we have experienced to climb this mountain in every season and has explored its each and every corner.
