    Thank your for this series Rich; I've been eagerly gobbling up these recent videos! Question about this vid: who is the "client"...meaning, who (what entity) are you sending the link to that website to? Is it the realtor that is trying to sell the parcels? Or the construction company that's doing the work? Or is it the owner of the land? Or is it another entity that I haven't thought of? (I'm not asking for specific names of course, just the "category" of the entity.) That's something I've been confused about as I'm trying to drum up construction progression business: what entity wants this type of service? Thank you!!

      I'm glad you're enjoying the series! I've been wanting to build a full class on the projects we've done and are currently doing, and that's some of what you're seeing here on UA-cam. Your question is also AWESOME!
      For this current project I'm doing this for a realtor involved with the new development, and the builders as well. For other projects I've worked for investors who want to monitor commercial build sites. I'm also doing 2 projects right now for the home buyers who are having new homes built for them and want to see the progress of the homes. We've also worked directly for builders. So we work for buyers, builders, venture capitalists, realtors, and brokers.
      I have several class series on the workflow I use, sample projects, and this new series on making money with our drones. classes.azdrone.net/. You can check out some free class previews there to see more of the work we do as well.

      Thanks @Rich Charpentier ! Who consumes this data and how to present it have been my 2 big questions, and I feel that you've answered these better than the other 20-ish youtubers I've looked for answers from. :-) How to connect with the "consumers" of the data is also a huge question that you answered in another video that really helped me as well. I've checked out your training and watched the previews; very good stuff there. Good job!

      BTW, do you have a breakdown of your monthly costs somwhere? I looked thru your classes but didn't see anything specifically about that. Web hosting, themeX, dropbox, sketchfab, kuula, kyno, map pilot pro, drone deploy...it all adds up, and I'm curious what to expect. Thanks!!

      Good morning / afternoon! I've done several breakdowns of my expenditures in my Patreon group. I also included a list of software and hardware I use in my Post Part 107 class as well. You don't have to buy all your gear at once. The big thing is to not over buy gear and software that you rarely use. When you see a use case, that's when you buy the software / hardware. Check out the Post Part 107 course here. classes.azdrone.net/p/what-comes-after-passing-the-faa-part-107-building-your-drone-business-basics

      @@AZ-Drone Thank you, I'll check those out! My philosophy (loosly) is to not buy a subscription to a service unless I have the client base to pay for it. I so far have no clients. Therefore it's opensource and single licenses (like Litchi) for me! :-)

    Mind blowing… This is one of the best representation of construction progress I’ve ever seen. Do your courses teach step by step for dummies? Lol. There is so much going on here! It’s fantastic though…
    One more question, are you working directly with the architect to get actual floor plan options that will be available for the consumer?

      I really appreciate your comment on this one! I'm glad you're finding this useful! My classes are geared toward new drone operators just getting into this business. I actually cover the workflow I use, samples of jobs we do, what tools we use, and we talk realistically about the costs associated with getting into all of this. I have a class bundle of 15 classes at classes.azdrone.net/p/az-drone-s-complete-class-bundle If you're interested in it make sure to use the coupon code "BOO" (for Halloween) on the bundle (it's more than 50% off). Each class has free previews as well so you know if the class is for you.
      And on your final question. We're getting the blueprints from the builders who got them from their architects. We always ask clients for as much information as possible. 😀

    Hey Rich, can you did something similar with a go daddy or square space built website? Plug-ins available with those websites, like 3d viewer, DEM, 2d orthos that allow measurements…etc? Something that can be used to present to individual clients that only they can access? I don’t have the time or skills to build a website in word-press. Just getting started so it’s all new to me. Thanks!

    • @AZ-Drone
      @AZ-Drone Рік тому +1

      I'm pretty sure you can with either of those companies. The big question revolves around what plugins / theme tools they have available to you. I went with Wordpress because I've been using it since 2005. Check with each of the hosting providers to see what tools they can offer you. 😀

    Great stuff, Rich! I have two questions for you:
    1) Do you share 3D models from WebODM with your clients? I'm thinking of models that you can pull measurements from. If so, how?
    2) What is the plugin that allows you to upload the ortho and slider, and is it only available in word-press?

    • @AZ-Drone
      @AZ-Drone Рік тому

      I export my models from WebODM and share them on Sketchfab. Interestingly enough, the bulk of my clients are looking for Orthomosaics and not 3D models. I was a little surprised by that.
      The plugin I'm using is a Wordpress Plugin called Twenty20. It's a free plugin as well.

    When you fly orthomosaic on a property like this, were you using the terrain following to make them all from the same relative height? Or did you just run a flat pattern at the same altitude?

    • @AZ-Drone
      @AZ-Drone Рік тому +1

      In the case of this one just the flat pattern at the same altitude. While I could use terrain aware, there's not to much to be aware of on this job site. Even with the slopes, the elevation change isn't very dramatic. Also, I'm not working around big trees, or other structures.

      @@AZ-Drone Cool. I was trying to get a sense for when it makes sense to follow terrain to improve the end product. I wasn't thinking of it in terms of obstacle avoidance.

    I'm curious, how much time does this take you to build a site like this and process the data for it?

    • @AZ-Drone
      @AZ-Drone 8 місяців тому +1

      Once our initial site was created we made templates for different types of jobs. So for each report we make for a client, there's not a lot of time invested. Getting the site setup initially is a bigger time sink. But once it's all setup, and you start building templates for different types of jobs the pages come together quicker. Still, you have to do all your post processing first (video edits, 3D models, Maps, stills, etc). You'll spend more time on your post processing than actually populating the web page. Once all of my post work is done, page assembly is usually under 30 minutes.
