I can't express enough how important these car-specific how-to videos are. Regardless how good, bad, usefull or useless anyone thinks a video like this is or isn't, just the fact that the viewer gets to take a tour, so-to-speak, of a job they're about to do, which to me, is priceless. I never do a task like a tranny flush unless I know exactly what I'm about to do and your video, along with others on YT, familiarizes me with the task at hand. It show me approximate quantities, order of procedure and other things that are critical, even though I'm actually going to do a more in depth fluid flush tomorrow. It always amazes me when people criticize these kinds of videos. I say... nice job!

Hard to find videos for the good old Toyota’s with good info or a thorough explanation(s). I’m in the process of putting in a transmission in my 99 Camry and I’m going to have to change the fluids as I don’t know how old and how long the fluids are and have been sitting in the “new” transmission. Thank you for uploading this.
Thanks for this helpful video. Funny, I have the same car, the same black and orange funnels, the same ramps and the same drain pan. Maybe we have the same mom?
This guy was very funny but now you're even funnier lol you guys are related I'm trying not to laugh but now this is very funny let's start by how about using a 3/8 breaker bar to begin with hey but pipes are okay for leverage lol . Maybe there's no harbor freight store where this guy lives the plastic gloves are hilarious you can get some at harbor freight tools that will fit you just right I'm sorry to be laughing but I have a Toyota Camry 1998 and know exactly how great this cars are but this guy is very entertaining and funny but very cool I'm actually going to pay attention to this video because I actually did this job on another 98 Toyota Camry let's 4cyl. And I'm about to do it again on another 98 Camry that I just purchased.
I found your instructions quite helpful, as I did this job for the first time. The gasket of my transmission pan seemed to be in perfect shape so I kept the new gasket for the next round. The differential fill plug is indeed not easy to break loose. I decided to let it soak for some time in WD-40 ; spray ,respray . And ordered a ratchet with flexible head, as I don't have it in my toolbox. Again, thank you!
Thanks for the helpful walk through from beginning to end. I got my 2001 Camry Transmission drained and filled. After my special tools arrive in the mail, I'll drain and fill the differential. Thanks again.
Welking, This Saturday, I drained and filled the differential. I would have not gotten that fill plug off without getting the perfect size flex wrench and perfect length short 17mm socket. I used my own version of extending the tool's leverage. The socket still wanted to slip on the drain plug so, with my face right under the exhaust pipe and differential, I stabilized the socket with my right hand and cranked the fill plug loose with my left hand. I felt so relieved when it came loose. This is the most difficult part of the job. Now, I have new Toyota ATF in the differential. Thanks.
Thank you!!! I have the same car and I needed to add differential fluid as I have a leak. Your video was awesome!!! I managed to add it so now I can make it to the shop for my appointment to replace the drivers side output seal! I can’t thank you enough. You are an angel!

Good trick when no room for pipe, plus it changes angle so it's easier to get leverage. I was sure I broke something besides the bolt when loosening it, but it was OK. SNAP!!!

Good job. Mine was full and looks like somebody changed it.. Had it in for major engine work maybe they did it.. It was a pain to get to. I took off my left tire made it easy to get 2 hands on it.. One threw the hole near the rack arm and one under.. I also used a rubber mallet to give the 17 mm wrench a hit to loosen it worked great.. Make sure you use car jack stands for safety.
I have five quarts of the Toyota brand transmission, and am debating whether I can drain the old fluid/replace filter, like I did before, or to get the transmission fluid flushed first. Edit: Transmission is a clear orange color.
Hi Vue Thanks 4 yr video. In my Camry (3VZFE -A540E) the Transmission and Diff share ATF. But like yrs the Diff has separate fill and drain holes. I was able to fill the Diff and Transmission from the Diff fill hole. The front of the car was a little lower than the rear
My question is, since I will be using ramps also, this tilts the car back and when filling the differential until it flows out of the hole (like you are supposed to) it will allow more fluid into it than if the car were on a lift and level. Does this matter much? Should we roll it off the ramps and let the fluid leak until level with the hole and then go back up the ramp and put the fill plug back in? Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It is very helpful.
I learn from books too, a lot of times I just do what the book says. If the book doesn't tell me to lower the car again and then raise it up again, then I probably won't. I'll just tell you this. I done this on multiple cars and haven't had any problem.
@@WelkingVue I believe you I did this same job on a 1998 Toyota Camry and it was probably your video that helped me with the differential fluid I just put the car on ramps and the job was a success sadly I got hit from behind and my car is no longer drivable but I bought another 98 Camry and I'm about to do this job again in a couple months. Thank you for this video. I have a 2000 camry and wonder if it has a filter (or I think you refer to it as strainer)? I'm asking this because your method of just refilling the oil is easier and I can do myself, but it gets more complicated if I take that pan out.
I don't think this car has a filter, just a strainer. You don't really need to change the strainer, just clean it. The strainer could be washed with clean transmission fluid. I believe strainer is under the transmission pan and it's bolted onto the transmission. I didn't want to deal with new fluid pan gasket and leaks that's why I didn't clean the strainer. If there's magnet on the strainer you could clean them, but don't throw them away.
Hey Velking, I appreciate the tutorial! Just changed my transmission fluid but couldn’t get the differential fill bolt off. Where did you buy that breaker bar attachment?
I made this video years ago, so I don't remember every detail of breaker bar attachment. If there was a breaker bar attachment I was probably just using a pipe and attach the pipe to a short ratchet. I usually get my pipe at Home Depot and cut them to shorter size. If what I'm saying don't make sense let me know I'll re-watch the video to see what you are talking about.
